1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, with every prince. 2 And David said to all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good to you, and it be of Jehovah our God*GodHebrew: Elohim let us send abroad to our brethren everywhere, that are left in all the lands of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us; 3 and let us bring again the ark of our God*GodHebrew: Elohim to us; for we inquired not of it in the days of Saul. 4 And all the congregation said that they should do so; for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. 5 And David assembled all Israel from the Shihor of Egypt unto the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God*GodHebrew: Elohim from Kirjath-jearim. 6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, to Kirjath-jearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Jehovah, who sitteth between the cherubim, whose name is placed there. 7 And they carried the ark of God*GodHebrew: Elohim on a new cart out of the house of Abinadab; and Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. 8 And David and all Israel played before God*GodHebrew: Elohim with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with lutes, and with tambours, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9 And when they came to the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen had stumbled. 10 And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he had put forth his hand to the ark; and there he died before God*GodHebrew: Elohim11 And David was indignant; for Jehovah had made a breach upon Uzza; and he called that place Perez-Uzza to this day. 12 And David was afraid of God*GodHebrew: Elohim that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God*GodHebrew: Elohim to me? 13 And David brought not the ark home unto himself into the city of David, but he carried it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 14 And the ark of God*GodHebrew: Elohim remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And Jehovah blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he had.

1 David a ținut sfat cu căpeteniile peste mii și peste sute, cu toți mai-marii. 2 Și David a zis întregii adunări a lui Israel: „Dacă găsiți cu cale și dacă lucrul acesta vine de la Domnul Dumnezeul nostru, să trimitem în toate părțile la frații noștri care au rămas*1 Sam. 31:1.Is. 37:4. în toate ținuturile lui Israel și la preoți și leviți în cetățile și împrejurimile lor, ca să se strângă la noi 3 și să aducem la noi chivotul Dumnezeului nostru, căci*1 Sam. 7:1,2. nu ne-am mai îngrijit de el de pe vremea lui Saul." 4 Toată adunarea a hotărât să facă așa, căci lucrul acesta a părut bun întregului popor. 5 David a strâns*1 Sam. 7:5.2 Sam. 6:1. pe tot Israelul, de la Șilhor*Ios. 13:3., în Egipt, până la intrarea Hamatului, ca să aducă din*1 Sam. 6:21;7:1. Chiriat-Iearim chivotul lui Dumnezeu. 6 Și David, împreună cu tot Israelul, s-a suit la Baala*Ios. 15:9,60., la Chiriat-Iearim, care este al lui Iuda, ca să ridice de acolo chivotul lui Dumnezeu, înaintea căruia este chemat Numele Domnului care șade*1 Sam. 4:4.2 Sam. 6:2. între heruvimi. 7 Au pus într-un car*Num. 4:15. Cap. 15:2,13. nou chivotul lui Dumnezeu, pe care l-au luat din casa*1 Sam. 7:1. lui Abinadab. Uza și Ahio cârmuiau carul. 8 David*2 Sam. 6:5. și tot Israelul jucau înaintea lui Dumnezeu cu toată puterea lor, cântând și zicând din harpe, din lăute, din tobe, din chimvale și din trâmbițe. 9 Când au ajuns la aria lui Chidon, Uza a întins mâna să apuce chivotul, pentru că boii erau să-l răstoarne. 10 Domnul S-a aprins de mânie împotriva lui Uza și Domnul l-a lovit pentru că*Num. 4:15. Cap. 15:13,15. întinsese mâna pe chivot. Uza a murit*Lev. 10:2. acolo înaintea lui Dumnezeu. 11 David s-a mâniat că Domnul făcuse o spărtură lovind pe Uza cu o asemenea pedeapsă. De aceea, locul acesta a fost numit până în ziua de azi Pereț-Uza*13:11 Sau: Spărtura lui Uza.. 12 David s-a temut de Dumnezeu în ziua aceea și a zis: „Cum să aduc chivotul lui Dumnezeu la mine?" 13 David n-a tras chivotul la el, în cetatea lui David, ci l-a dus în casa lui Obed-Edom din Gat. 14 Chivotul*2 Sam. 6:11. lui Dumnezeu a rămas trei luni la familia lui Obed-Edom, în casa lui. Și Domnul a binecuvântat casa lui Obed-Edom*Gen. 30:27. Cap. 26:5. și tot ce era al lui.
