1 In the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth of the month, the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and prophesy against him, and against the whole of Egypt; 3 speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which saith, My river is mine own, and I made it for myself. 4 And I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales; 5 and I will cast thee into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open field; thou shalt not be brought together nor gathered: I will give thee for meat to the beasts of the earth and to the fowl of the heavens. 6 And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am Jehovah, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel. 7 When they took hold of thee by thy hand, thou didst give way and rend all their shoulder; and when they leaned upon thee, thou didst break, and didst make all their loins to tremble.

8 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast from thee. 9 And the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste: and they shall know that I am Jehovah, because he saith, The river is mine, and I made it. 10 Therefore behold, I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt deserts of wasteness and desolation, from Migdol to Syene, even unto the border of Ethiopia. 11 No foot of man shall pass through it, nor shall foot of beast pass through it, nor shall it be inhabited, forty years. 12 And I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of the countries that are desolated, and her cities shall be, in the midst of the cities that are laid waste, a desolation forty years; and I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and will disperse them through the countries. 13 Yet thus saith the Lord Jehovah: At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the peoples whither they were scattered; 14 and I will turn again the captivity of Egypt, and will cause them to return to the land of Pathros, into the land of their birth, and they shall there be a base kingdom. 15 It shall be the basest of kingdoms; neither shall it exalt itself any more above the nations; and I will diminish them, so that they shall no more rule over the nations. 16 And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, bringing iniquity to remembrance, when they turn after them: and they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.

17 And it came to pass in the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first of the month, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 18 Son of man, Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon caused his army to do hard service against Tyre; every head was made bald, and every shoulder was peeled: yet had he from Tyre no wages, nor his army, for the service that he had served against it. 19 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall carry away her multitude, and seize her spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army. 20 I have given him the land of Egypt for his labour wherewith he served against it, because they wrought for me, saith the Lord Jehovah. 21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them: and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

1 În anul al zecelea, în ziua a douăsprezecea a lunii a zecea, cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 2 „Fiul omului, întoarce-te cu fața*Cap. 28:21. spre Faraon, împăratul Egiptului, și prorocește împotriva lui și împotriva întregului*Is. 19:1.Ier. 25:19;46:2,25. Egipt! 3 Vorbește și spune: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Iată că*Ier. 44:30. Cap. 28:22. Vers. 10. am necaz pe tine, Faraoane, împăratul Egiptului, crocodil*Ps. 74:13,14.Is. 27:1;51:9. Cap. 32:2. mare, care te culci în mijlocul râurilor tale și*Cap. 28:2. zici: ‹Râul meu, Nilul, este al meu, eu l-am făcut!› 4 Îți voi pune*Is. 37:29. Cap. 38:4. însă un cârlig în fălci, voi lipi peștii râurilor tale de solzii tăi și te voi scoate din mijlocul râurilor tale cu toți peștii care se află în ele și care se vor lipi de solzii tăi. 5 Te voi arunca în pustie, pe tine și pe toți peștii din râurile tale. Vei cădea pe fața ogoarelor, nu vei fi ridicat*Ier. 8:2;16:4;25:33., nici îngropat, ci te voi*Ier. 7:33;34:20. da de mâncare fiarelor pământului și păsărilor cerului. 6 Și toți locuitorii Egiptului vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul, pentru că au fost o proptea de trestie*2 Împ. 18:21.Is. 36:6. pentru casa lui Israel. 7 Când au pus mâna*Ier. 37:5,7,11. Cap. 17:17. pe tine, te-ai rupt și le-ai străpuns tot umărul; când s-au proptit de tine, te-ai sfărâmat și le-ai scrântit șoldurile.» 8 De aceea așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Iată, voi aduce sabia*Cap. 14:17;32:11-13. împotriva ta și voi nimici cu desăvârșire din mijlocul tău oamenii și vitele. 9 Țara Egiptului va ajunge o pustietate și un pustiu și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul, pentru că a zis: ‹Nilul este al meu, eu l-am făcut!› 10 De aceea, iată că am necaz pe tine și pe râurile tale și voi*Cap. 30:12. preface țara Egiptului într-un pustiu și într-o pustietate, de la*Cap. 30:6. Migdol până la Siena și până la hotarele Etiopiei. 11 Nici picior de om nu va trece prin ea, nici picior de vită nu va trece prin ea și va rămâne patruzeci de ani fără să fie locuită. 12 Voi preface*Cap. 30:7,26. țara Egiptului într-o pustietate în mijlocul altor țări pustiite, și cetățile ei vor fi pustii între alte cetăți pustii timp de patruzeci de ani. Iar pe egipteni îi voi risipi printre neamuri și-i voi împrăștia în felurite țări.»

13 Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «După*Is. 19:23.Ier. 46:26. patruzeci de ani, voi strânge pe egipteni din mijlocul popoarelor între care îi voi risipi. 14 Voi aduce înapoi pe prinșii de război ai Egiptului, îi voi aduce înapoi în țara Patros, în țara lor de baștină, și vor alcătui acolo o împărăție*Cap. 17:6,14. slabă. 15 Da, va fi cea mai neînsemnată dintre împărății și nu se va mai înălța peste neamuri; îi voi împuțina, ca să nu stăpânească peste neamuri. 16 Împărăția aceasta nu va mai fi pentru casa lui Israel o pricină de încredere*Is. 30:2,3;36:4,6., ci îi va aduce aminte de nelegiuirea ei, când se întorcea spre ei. Și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeu.»’" 17 În al douăzeci și șaptelea an, în ziua întâi a lunii întâi, cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 18 „Fiul omului, Nebucadnețar*Ier. 27:6. Cap. 26:7,8., împăratul Babilonului, și-a pus oastea să facă o slujbă grea împotriva Tirului. Toate capetele au ajuns pleșuve, toți umerii sunt jupuiți și n-a luat de la Tir nicio plată, nici el, nici oastea lui, pentru slujba pe care a făcut-o împotriva lui. 19 De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Iată că dau lui Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, țara Egiptului; el îi va ridica bogățiile, o va prăda și o va jefui; aceasta va fi plata oștii lui! 20 Ca plată pentru slujba făcută împotriva Tirului, îi dau țara Egiptului, căci pentru Mine s-au*Ier. 25:9. ostenit’, zice Domnul Dumnezeu. 21 ‘În ziua aceea, voi da tărie*Ps. 132:17. casei lui Israel și-ți voi deschide*Cap. 24:27. gura veselă în mijlocul lor; și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul.’"
