1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah, and they sat before me. 2 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Are ye come to inquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you. 4 Wilt thou judge them, wilt thou judge, son of man? Cause them to know the abominations of their fathers,

5 and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up my hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up my hand unto them, saying, I am Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim6 in that day I lifted up my hand unto them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the ornament of all lands; 7 and I said unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: none of them cast away the abominations of his eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I thought to pour out my fury upon them, so as to accomplish mine anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they were, in whose sight I had made myself known unto them in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 And I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. 11 And I gave them my statutes, and made known unto them mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them. 12 And I also gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Jehovah that hallow them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they rejected mine ordinances, which if a man do, he shall live by them; and my sabbaths they greatly profaned: and I said I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. 15 And I also lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land that I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the ornament of all lands; 16 because they rejected mine ordinances and walked not in my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 17 But mine eye spared them so as not to destroy them, neither did I make a full end of them in the wilderness. 18 And I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk not in the statutes of your fathers, neither keep their ordinances, nor defile yourselves with their idols. 19 I am Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them; 20 and hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim21 And the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept mine ordinances to do them, which if a man do, he shall live by them; they profaned my sabbaths: and I said I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish mine anger against them in the wilderness. 22 But I withdrew my hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. 23 I lifted up my hand also unto them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations, and disperse them through the countries; 24 because they performed not mine ordinances, and rejected my statutes, and profaned my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. 25 And I also gave them statutes that were not good, and ordinances whereby they should not live; 26 and I defiled them by their own gifts, in that they devoted all that opened the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am Jehovah.

27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In this moreover have your fathers blasphemed me, in that they have wrought unfaithfulness against me. 28 When I had brought them into the land which I had lifted up my hand to give unto them, then they saw every high hill and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering; and there they placed their sweet savour, and there poured out their drink-offerings. 29 And I said unto them, What is the high place whither ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. 30 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Do ye defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers? and do ye commit fornication after their abominations? 31 And when ye offer your gifts, making your sons to pass through the fire, ye defile yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day; and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you. 32 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the nations, as the families of the countries, in serving wood and stone.

33 As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, verily with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, will I reign over you. 34 And I will bring you out from the peoples, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out; 35 and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face. 36 Like as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I enter into judgment with you, saith the Lord Jehovah. 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant. 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me; I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, but they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I amJehovah. 39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Go ye, serve every one his idols henceforth also, if none of you will hearken unto me; but profane my holy name no more with your gifts and with your idols. 40 For in my holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, there shall all the house of Israel serve me, the whole of it, in the land; there will I accept them, and there will I require your heave-offerings and the first-fruits of your offerings, with all your holy things. 41 As a sweet savour will I accept you, when I bring you out from the peoples, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you in the sight of the nations. 42 And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have brought you into the land of Israel, into the country which I lifted up my hand to give to your fathers. 43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils which ye have committed. 44 And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah.

45 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop words against the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; 47 and say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flashing flame shall not be quenched; and all that it meets from the south to the north shall be burned thereby. 48 And all flesh shall see that I Jehovah have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. 49 And I said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?

1 În al șaptelea an, în ziua a zecea a lunii a cincea, unii din bătrânii*Cap. 8:1;14:1. lui Israel au venit la mine să întrebe pe Domnul și au șezut jos înaintea mea. 2 Și cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 3 „Fiul omului, vorbește bătrânilor lui Israel și spune-le: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Să Mă întrebați ați venit? Pe viața Mea că nu*Vers. 31. Cap. 14:3. Mă voi lăsa să fiu întrebat de voi», zice Domnul Dumnezeu.’ 4 Vrei să-i judeci*Cap. 22:2;23:36., fiul omului? Dacă vrei să-i judeci, pune-le*Cap. 16:2. înainte urâciunile părinților lor! 5 Spune-le: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «În ziua când am*Exod 6:7.Deut. 7:6. ales pe Israel, Mi-am ridicat mâna spre sămânța casei lui Iacov și M-am arătat*Exod 3:8;4:31.Deut. 4:34. lor în țara Egiptului; Mi-am ridicat mâna spre ei și am zis: ‹Eu sunt*Exod 20:2. Domnul Dumnezeul vostru!› 6 În ziua aceea, Mi-am ridicat mâna spre ei ca să-i duc*Exod 3:8,17.Deut. 8:7-9.Ier. 32:22. din țara Egiptului într-o țară pe care o căutasem pentru ei, țară în care curge lapte și miere, cea mai frumoasă*Ps. 48:2. Vers. 15.Dan. 8:9;11:16,41.Zah. 7:14. dintre toate țările. 7 Atunci le-am zis: ‹Lepădați*Cap. 18:31., fiecare, urâciunile*2 Cron. 15:8. care vă atrag privirile și nu vă spurcați cu idolii*Lev. 17:7;18:3.Deut. 29:16-18.Ios. 24:14. Egiptului! Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeul vostru!› 8 Dar ei s-au răzvrătit împotriva Mea și n-au vrut să Mă asculte. Niciunul n-a lepădat urâciunile care îi atrăgeau privirile și n-au părăsit idolii Egiptului. Atunci Mi-am pus de gând să-Mi vărs mânia*Cap. 7:8. Vers. 13,21. peste ei, să-Mi sleiesc mânia împotriva lor, în mijlocul țării Egiptului. 9 Dar am avut în vedere*Exod 32:12.Num. 14:13.Deut. 9:28. Vers. 14,22. Cap. 36:21,22. Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pângărit în ochii neamurilor printre care se aflau și în fața cărora Mă arătasem lor, ca să-i scot din țara Egiptului. 10 Și i-am scos*Exod 13:18. astfel din țara Egiptului și i-am dus în pustie. 11 Le-am dat*Deut. 4:8.Neem. 9:13,14.Ps. 147:19,20. legile Mele și le-am făcut cunoscute poruncile Mele pe care*Lev. 18:5. Vers. 13,21.Rom. 10:5.Gal. 3:12. trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască prin ele. 12 Le-am dat și Sabatele Mele*Exod 20:8;31:13;35:2.Deut. 5:12.Neem. 9:14. să fie ca un semn între Mine și ei, pentru ca să știe că Eu sunt Domnul, care-i sfințesc. 13 Dar casa lui Israel s-a răzvrătit împotriva Mea*Num. 14:22.Ps. 78:40;95:8-10. în pustie. N-au urmat legile Mele, ci au lepădat poruncile*Prov. 1:25. Vers. 16,24. Mele pe care trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască prin ele și Mi-au pângărit*Exod 16:27. peste măsură de mult Sabatele Mele. Atunci am avut de gând să-Mi vărs mânia peste ei în pustie*Num. 14:29;26:65.Ps. 106:23., ca să-i nimicesc. 14 Dar am avut în vedere*Vers. 9,22. Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pângărit în ochii neamurilor în fața cărora îi scosesem din Egipt. 15 Chiar și în pustie Mi-am ridicat*Num. 14:28.Ps. 95:11;106:26. mâna spre ei și le-am jurat că nu-i voi duce în țara pe care le-o hotărâsem, țară în care curge lapte și miere, cea mai frumoasă*Vers. 6. din toate țările, 16 și aceasta pentru că*Vers. 13,24. au lepădat poruncile Mele și n-au urmat legile Mele și pentru că au pângărit Sabatele Mele, căci inima*Num. 15:39.Ps. 78:37.Amos 5:25,26.Fapte 7:42,43. nu li s-a depărtat de la idolii lor. 17 Dar M-am uitat cu milă*Ps. 78:38. la ei, nu i-am nimicit și nu i-am stârpit în pustie. 18 Atunci am zis fiilor lor în pustie: ‹Nu vă luați după rânduielile părinților voștri, nu țineți obiceiurile lor și nu vă spurcați cu idolii lor! 19 Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeul vostru; umblați*Deut. 5:32,33;6;7;8;10;11;12. întocmai după rânduielile Mele, păziți poruncile Mele și împliniți-le! 20 Sfințiți*Ier. 17:22. Vers. 12. Sabatele Mele, căci ele sunt un semn între Mine și voi, ca să știți că Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeul vostru!› 21 Dar fiii s-au răzvrătit*Num. 25:1,2.Deut. 9:23,24;31:27. și ei împotriva Mea. N-au umblat după rânduielile Mele, n-au păzit și n-au împlinit poruncile Mele pe care*Vers. 11,13. trebuie să le împlinească omul ca să trăiască prin ele și au pângărit Sabatele Mele. Atunci am avut de gând să-Mi vărs*Vers. 8,13. urgia peste ei, să-Mi sting mânia împotriva lor în pustie. 22 Dar Mi-am tras mâna*Ps. 78:38. Vers. 17. înapoi și am avut în vedere*Vers. 9,14. Numele Meu, ca să nu fie pângărit înaintea neamurilor în fața cărora îi scosesem din Egipt. 23 În pustie, Mi-am ridicat iarăși mâna spre ei și le-am jurat că am să-i împrăștii*Lev. 26:33.Deut. 28:64.Ps. 106:27.Ier. 15:4. printre neamuri și să-i risipesc în felurite țări, 24 pentru că n-au împlinit*Vers. 13,16. poruncile Mele și au lepădat învățăturile Mele, au pângărit Sabatele mele și și-au întors ochii*Cap. 6:9. spre idolii părinților lor. 25 Ba încă le-am dat și legi*Ps. 81:12. Vers. 39.Rom. 1:24.2 Tes. 2:11. care nu erau bune și porunci prin care nu puteau să trăiască. 26 I-am spurcat prin darurile lor de mâncare, când treceau prin foc*2 Împ. 17:17;21:6.2 Cron. 28:3;33:6.Ier. 32:35. Cap. 16:20,21. pe toți întâii lor născuți; am vrut să-i pedepsesc astfel și să le arăt*Cap. 6:7. că Eu sunt Domnul.»’ 27 De aceea, fiul omului, vorbește casei lui Israel și spune-le: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Părinții voștri M-au batjocorit*Rom. 2:24. și mai mult, arătându-se necredincioși față de Mine. 28 Și anume, când i-am dus în țara pe care jurasem că le-o voi da, și ei și-au aruncat ochii*Is. 57:5. Cap. 6:13; 16:19. spre orice deal înalt și spre orice copac stufos, acolo și-au adus jertfele, acolo și-au adus darurile de mâncare care Mă mâniau, acolo și-au ars miresmele de un miros plăcut și acolo și-au turnat jertfele de băutură. 29 Eu i-am întrebat: ‹Ce sunt aceste înălțimi la care vă duceți?› De aceea li s-a dat numele de înălțimi până în ziua de azi!»’ 30 De aceea spune casei lui Israel: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Voiți voi să vă spurcați în felul părinților voștri și să curviți alergând după urâciunile lor? 31 Da, aducându-vă darurile*Vers. 26. de mâncare, trecându-vă copiii prin foc, vă spurcați și azi prin idolii voștri. Și Eu să Mă las*Vers. 3. să fiu întrebat de voi, casa lui Israel! Pe viața Mea», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «că nu Mă voi lăsa întrebat de voi! 32 Nu veți vedea împlinindu-se ce vă*Cap. 11:5. închipuiți când ziceți: ‹Vrem să fim ca neamurile, ca familiile celorlalte țări, vrem să slujim lemnului și pietrei!› 33 Pe viața Mea», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «că Eu Însumi voi fi Împărat peste voi, cu mână tare și cu braț întins*Ier. 21:5. și vărsându-Mi urgia. 34 Vă voi scoate din mijlocul popoarelor și vă voi strânge din țările în care v-am risipit cu mână tare și cu braț întins și vărsându-Mi urgia. 35 Vă voi aduce în pustia popoarelor și acolo*Ier. 2:9,35. Cap. 17:20. Mă voi judeca față în față cu voi. 36 Cum M-am judecat*Num. 14:21-23,28,29. cu părinții voștri în pustia țării Egiptului, așa Mă voi judeca și cu voi», zice Domnul Dumnezeu. 37 «Vă voi trece*Lev. 27:32.Ier. 33:13. pe sub toiag și vă voi pune sub mustrarea legământului. 38 Voi deosebi*Cap. 34:17,20.Mat. 25:32,33. dintre voi pe cei îndărătnici și pe cei ce nu-Mi sunt credincioși; îi voi scoate din țara în care sunt străini, dar nu vor merge*Ier. 44:14. iarăși în țara lui Israel. Și veți ști*Cap. 6:7;15:7;23:49. că Eu sunt Domnul.»’" 39 Acum, casa lui Israel, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: „Duceți-vă și slujiți*Jud. 10:14.Ps. 81:12.Amos 4:4. fiecare la idolii voștri! După aceea, Mă veți asculta negreșit și nu veți mai pângări*Is. 1:13. Cap. 23:38,39. Numele Meu cel sfânt cu darurile voastre de mâncare și cu idolii voștri! 40 Căci pe muntele Meu*Is. 2:2,3. Cap. 17:23.Mica 4:1. cel sfânt, pe muntele cel înalt al lui Israel", zice Domnul Dumnezeu, „acolo Îmi va sluji toată casa lui Israel, toți cei ce vor fi în țară; acolo îi*Is. 56:7;60:7.Zah. 8:20.Mal. 3:4.Rom. 12:1. voi primi cu bunăvoință, voi cere darurile voastre de mâncare, cele dintâi roade din darurile voastre și tot ce-Mi veți închina. 41 Vă voi primi ca pe niște miresme*Efes. 5:2.Filip. 4:18. cu miros plăcut, după ce vă voi scoate din mijlocul popoarelor și vă voi strânge din țările în care sunteți risipiți, și voi fi sfințit de voi înaintea neamurilor. 42 Și*Vers. 38,44. Cap. 36:23;38:23. veți ști că Eu sunt Domnul când*Cap. 11:17;34:13;36:24. vă voi aduce înapoi în țara lui Israel, în țara pe care jurasem că o voi da părinților voștri. 43 Acolo*Cap. 16:61. vă veți aduce aminte de purtarea voastră și de toate faptele voastre cu care v-ați spurcat și vă va fi scârbă*Lev. 26:39. Cap. 6:9.Osea 5:15. de voi înșivă din pricina tuturor fărădelegilor pe care le-ați făcut. 44 Și veți ști*Vers. 38. Cap. 24:24. că Eu sunt Domnul când Mă voi purta cu voi având în vedere*Cap. 36:22. Numele Meu, și nicidecum după purtarea voastră rea, nici după faptele voastre stricate, casa lui Israel", zice Domnul Dumnezeu.

45 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 46 „Fiul omului*Cap. 6:2;21:2., întoarce-ți fața spre miazăzi și vorbește împotriva locurilor de miazăzi! Prorocește împotriva pădurii din câmpiile de miazăzi! 47 Spune pădurii de la miazăzi: ‘Ascultă cuvântul Domnului! Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Iată, voi aprinde*Ier. 21:14. un foc în tine care va mistui orice*Luca 23:31. copac verde și orice copac uscat: nimeni nu va putea stinge flacăra aprinsă și totul va fi ars de ea, de la miazăzi*Cap. 21:4. până la miazănoapte. 48 Și orice făptură va vedea că Eu, Domnul, l-am aprins, și nu se va stinge nicidecum!»’" 49 Eu am zis: „Ah, Doamne Dumnezeule! Ei zic despre mine: ‘Omul acesta face întruna la pilde!’"
