1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Jerusalem, and drop words against the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel, 3 and say to the land of Israel, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, and I will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked. 4 Seeing that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh, from the south to the north; 5 and all flesh shall know that I Jehovah have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath: it shall not return any more. 6 Sigh then, thou son of man; with breaking of the loins, and with bitterness sigh before their eyes. 7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore dost thou sigh? that thou shalt say, Because of the tidings, for it cometh; and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall languish, and all knees shall melt into water: behold, it cometh; it is here, saith the Lord Jehovah.

8 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith Jehovah: Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished. 10 It is sharpened for sore slaughter, it is furbished that it may glitter. Shall we then make mirth, saying, The sceptre of my son contemneth all wood? 11 And he hath given it to be furbished that it may be handled. The sword, — it is sharpened, and it is furbished to give it into the hand of the slayer. 12 Cry and howl, son of man; for it shall be against my people, it shall be against all the princes of Israel: they are given up to the sword along with my people: smite therefore upon the thigh. 13 For the trial is made; and what if even the contemning sceptre shall be no more? saith the Lord Jehovah. 14 And thou, son of man, prophesy, and smite thy hands together; for the strokes of the sword shall be doubled the third time: it is the sword of the slain, the sword that hath slain the great one, which encompasseth them privily. 15 In order that the heart may melt, and the stumbling-blocks be multiplied, I have set the threatening sword against all their gates: ah! it is made glittering, it is whetted for the slaughter. 16 Gather up strength, go to the right hand, turn thee, go to the left, whithersoever thy face is appointed. 17 And I myself will smite my hands together, and I will satisfy my fury: I Jehovah have spoken it.

18 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 19 And thou, son of man, set thee two ways, by which the sword of the king of Babylon may come — out of one land shall they both come — and make thee a signpost, make it at the head of the way to the city. 20 Appoint a way for the coming of the sword to Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and to Judah at the fenced city of Jerusalem. 21 For the king of Babylon standeth at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he shaketh his arrows, he inquireth of the teraphim, he looketh in the liver. 22 In his right hand is the lot of Jerusalem to appoint battering-rams, to open the mouth for bloodshed, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering-rams against the gates, to cast mounds, to build siege-towers. 23 And this shall be a false divination in their sight, for them that have sworn oaths; but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken. 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Because ye make your iniquity to be remembered in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand. 25 And thou, profane, wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, at the time of the iniquity of the end, 26 — thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Remove the mitre and take off the crown; what is shall be no more. Exalt that which is low, and abase that which is high. 27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn it! This also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it to him.

28 And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus speaketh the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, A sword, a sword is drawn; for the slaughter is it furbished, that it may consume, that it may glitter: 29 whilst they see vanity for thee, whilst they divine a lie unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are slain, whose day is come at the time of the iniquity of the end. 30 Restore it to its sheath. I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy birth. 31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow upon thee the fire of my wrath, and give thee into the hand of brutish men, skilful to destroy. 32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt not be remembered: for I Jehovah have spoken.

1 Și cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 2 „Fiul omului*Cap. 20:46., întoarce-ți fața spre Ierusalim și vorbește*Deut. 32:2.Amos 7:16.Mica 2:6,11. împotriva locurilor sfinte, prorocește împotriva țării lui Israel! 3 Spune țării lui Israel: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul: «Iată, am necaz pe tine, Îmi voi trage sabia din teacă și voi nimici cu desăvârșire în mijlocul tău pe cel neprihănit*Iov 9:22. și pe cel rău. 4 Pentru că vreau să nimicesc cu desăvârșire din mijlocul tău pe cel neprihănit și pe cel rău, sabia Mea va ieși din teacă, pentru ca să lovească orice făptură, de la*Cap. 20:47. miazăzi până la miazănoapte. 5 Și orice făptură va ști că Eu, Domnul, Mi-am scos sabia din teacă și nu*Is. 45:23;55:11. se va mai întoarce înapoi în ea.»’ 6 Și tu, fiul omului, gemi*Is. 22:4.! Cu rărunchii zdrobiți și cu amărăciunea în suflet, gemi sub privirile lor! 7 Și, dacă te vor întreba: ‘Pentru ce gemi?’, să răspunzi: ‘Pentru că vine o veste… Când va veni, toate inimile se vor înspăimânta, toate mâinile*Cap. 7:17. vor slăbi, toate sufletele se vor mâhni și toți genunchii se vor topi ca apa!… Iată că vine, a sosit’, zice Domnul Dumnezeu." 8 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 9 „Fiul omului, prorocește și spune: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul.’ Zi: ‘Sabia, da, sabia*Deut. 32:41. Vers. 15,28. este ascuțită și lustruită. 10 Este ascuțită pentru măcel și lustruită ca să lucească!… O, sabie, tu tai toiagul de cârmuire al fiului meu, care nesocotește orice lemn… 11 A dat-o la lustruit ca s-o apuce cu mâna; este ascuțită sabia și lustruită ca să înarmeze mâna celui ce*Vers. 19. măcelărește.’ 12 Strigă și vaită-te, fiul omului! Căci este scoasă împotriva poporului Meu, împotriva tuturor voievozilor lui Israel, care sunt dați pradă sabiei împreună cu poporul Meu; de aceea, bate-te*Ier. 31:19. pe coapsă! 13 Da, încercarea*Iov 9:23.2 Cor. 8:2. s-a făcut. Și ce va fi dacă toiagul acesta de cârmuire care nesocotește totul va fi*Vers. 27. nimicit?", zice Domnul Dumnezeu. 14 „Și tu, fiul omului, prorocește și bate*Num. 24:10. Vers. 17. Cap. 6:11. din mâini! Loviturile sabiei să fie îndoite, întreite! Este sabia de măcel, sabia măcelului celui mare, care îi urmărește*1 Împ. 20:30;22:25. din toate părțile. 15 Ca să arunc groaza în inimi, ca să înmulțesc pe cei loviți, de aceea am tras sabia, amenințându-i la toate porțile lor. Vai, e făcută*Vers. 10,28. să fulgere și ascuțită pentru măcel! 16 Strânge-ți*Cap. 14:17. puterile, sabie, întoarce-te la dreapta! Așază-te, întoarce-te la stânga! Îndreaptă-ți ascuțișul în toate părțile! 17 Și Eu voi bate*Vers. 14. Cap. 22:13. din mâini de bucurie și Îmi voi*Cap. 5:13. potoli urgia. Eu, Domnul, vorbesc!" 18 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 19 „Fiul omului, croiește-ți două drumuri pe unde să treacă sabia împăratului Babilonului! Amândouă trebuie să iasă din aceeași țară. Fă un semn pe drum, fă-l la începutul drumului care duce într-o cetate. 20 Să faci unul din aceste drumuri așa ca sabia să vină la Raba*Ier. 49:2. Cap. 25:5.Amos 1:14., cetatea copiilor lui Amon, și pe celălalt, așa ca sabia să vină în Iuda, la Ierusalim, cetatea întărită. 21 Căci împăratul Babilonului stă la răscruce, la capătul celor două drumuri, ca să dea cu bobii; el scutură săgețile, întreabă terafimii și cercetează ficatul. 22 Sorțul care este în dreapta lui înseamnă Ierusalimul, unde vor trebui să ridice berbeci, să dea poruncă pentru măcel și să scoată strigăte*Ier. 51:14. de război; vor ridica berbeci*Cap. 4:2. împotriva porților, vor ridica întărituri și vor face șanțuri de apărare. 23 Copiii lui Israel nu văd în aceasta decât niște vrăjitorii deșarte, ei, care au făcut jurăminte*Cap. 17:13,15,16,18. mincinoase. Dar împăratul Babilonului își aduce aminte de nelegiuirea lor, așa că vor fi prinși. 24 De aceea, așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: ‘Pentru că vă făliți cu nelegiuirea voastră, vădindu-vă fărădelegile, arătându-vă păcatele în toate faptele voastre; pentru că vă făliți cu ele, veți fi prinși de mâna lui! 25 Și tu, domn*2 Cron. 36:13.Ier. 52:2. Cap. 17:19. nelegiuit, gata să fii ucis, domn al lui Israel, a cărui zi*Vers. 29. Cap. 35:5. vine tocmai când nelegiuirea este la culme! 26 Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «La o parte cu mitra, jos cununa împărătească! Nu mai este cum a fost. Ce este plecat va*Cap. 17:24.Luca 1:52. fi înălțat și ce este înălțat va fi plecat! 27 Voi da jos cununa, o voi da jos, o voi*Gen. 49:10. Vers. 13.Luca 1:32,33.Ioan 1:49. da jos. Dar lucrul acesta nu va avea loc decât la venirea Aceluia care are drept la ea și în mâna căruia o voi încredința.»’ 28 Și tu, fiul omului, prorocește și spune: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu despre copiii lui Amon*Ier. 49:1. Cap. 25:2,3,6.Ţef. 2:8-10. și despre ocara lor.’ Spune: ‘Sabia, da, sabia*Vers. 9,10. este scoasă pentru măcel; este lustruită pentru nimicire, ca să lucească! 29 În mijlocul vedeniilor*Cap. 12:24;22:28. cu care te înșală ei și în mijlocul prorociilor mincinoase pe care ți le fac ei, te vor face să cazi între trupurile moarte ale celor răi, a căror*Vers. 25.Iov 18:20.Ps. 37:13. zi vine tocmai când nelegiuirea lor este la culme. 30 Bagă-ți sabia*Ier. 47:6,7. înapoi în teacă! În locul în care ai fost făcut, în țara ta*Gen. 15:14. Cap. 16:38. de naștere, te voi*Cap. 16:3. judeca! 31 Îmi voi vărsa*Cap. 7:8;14:19;22:22. mânia peste tine, voi sufla*Cap. 22:20,21. împotriva ta cu focul urgiei Mele și te voi da în mâinile unor oameni care nu lucrează decât la nimicire. 32 Vei fi ars de foc; sângele tău va curge în mijlocul țării! Nu-și*Cap. 25:10. vor mai aduce aminte de tine! Căci Eu, Domnul, am vorbit.’"
