1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth of the month, as I was among the captives by the river Chebar, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God*GodHebrew: Elohim2 On the fifth of the month, (it was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity,) 3 the word of Jehovah came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of Jehovah was there upon him.

4 And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the look of glowing brass, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also out of the midst thereof, the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. 6 And every one had four faces, and every one of them had four wings. 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot; and they sparkled as the look of burnished brass. 8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings: 9 their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 10 And the likeness of their faces was the face of a man; and they four had the face of a lion on the right side; and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four had also the face of an eagle. 11 And their faces and their wings were parted above; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the Spirit was to go, they went; they turned not when they went. 13 And as for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, as the appearance of torches: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright; and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

15 And I looked at the living creatures, and behold, one wheel upon the earth beside the living creatures, toward their four faces. 16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was as the look of a chrysolite; and they four had one likeness; and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel. 17 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not when they went. 18 As for their rims, they were high and dreadful; and they four had their rims full of eyes round about. 19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went beside them; and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up. 20 Whithersoever the Spirit was to go, they went, thither would their spirit go; and the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 21 When those went, they went; and when those stood, they stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up along with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 22 And there was the likeness of an expanse over the heads of the living creature, as the look of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above. 23 And under the expanse were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two which covered on this side, and every one had two which covered on that side their bodies. 24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, a tumultuous noise, as the noise of a host: when they stood, they let down their wings; 25 and there was a voice from above the expanse that was over their heads. When they stood, they let down their wings.

26 And above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone; and upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27 And I saw as the look of glowing brass, as the appearance of fire, within it round about; from the appearance of his loins and upward, and from the appearance of his loins and downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of one that spoke.

Domnului peste el. 4 M-am uitat și iată că au venit de la miazănoapte*Ier. 1:14;4:6;6:1. un vânt*Ier. 23:19;25:32. năprasnic, un nor gros și un snop de foc, care răspândea de jur împrejur o lumină strălucitoare, în mijlocul căreia lucea ca o aramă lustruită, care ieșea din mijlocul focului. 5 Tot în mijloc*Apoc. 4:6., se mai vedeau patru făpturi vii, a căror înfățișare*Cap. 10:8. avea o asemănare*Vers. 10. Cap. 10:14,21. omenească. 6 Fiecare din ele avea patru fețe și fiecare avea patru aripi. 7 Picioarele lor erau drepte și talpa picioarelor lor era ca a piciorului unui vițel și scânteiau*Dan. 10:6.Apoc. 1:15. ca niște aramă lustruită. 8 Sub aripi, de cele patru părți ale lor, aveau niște mâini*Cap. 10:8,21. de om și toate patru aveau fețe și aripi. 9 Aripile*Vers. 11. lor erau prinse una de alta. Și când mergeau*Vers. 12. Cap. 10:11., nu se întorceau în nicio parte, ci fiecare mergea drept înainte. 10 Cât despre chipul*Apoc. 4:7. fețelor lor, era așa: înainte, toate*Num. 2:10. aveau o față de om; la dreapta lor, toate patru aveau*Num. 2:3. câte o față de leu; la stânga lor*Num. 2:18., toate patru aveau câte o față de bou, iar înapoi, toate patru aveau câte o*Num. 2:25. față de vultur. 11 Aripile fiecăreia erau întinse în sus, așa că două din aripile lor ajungeau până la cele învecinate, iar două*Is. 6:2. le acopereau trupurile. 12 Fiecare*Vers. 9. Cap. 10:22. mergea drept înainte, și anume încotro le mâna*Vers. 20. duhul să meargă, într-acolo mergeau, iar în mersul lor nu se*Vers. 9,17. întorceau în nicio parte. 13 În mijlocul acestor făpturi vii era ceva ca niște cărbuni de foc aprinși, care ardeau, și ceva ca niște făclii*Apoc. 4:5. umbla încoace și încolo printre aceste făpturi vii; focul acesta arunca o lumină strălucitoare și din el ieșeau fulgere. 14 Făpturile vii însă, când alergau*Zah. 4:10. și se întorceau, erau ca fulgerul*Mat. 24:27.. 15 Mă uitam la aceste făpturi vii și iată că pe pământ, afară de făpturile vii, era o roată*Cap. 10:9. la fiecare din cele patru fețe ale lor. 16 Înfățișarea*Cap. 10:9,10. acestor roți și materialul din care erau făcute păreau de crisolit*Dan. 10:6. și toate patru aveau aceeași întocmire. Înfățișarea și alcătuirea lor erau de așa fel, încât fiecare roată părea că este în mijlocul unei alte roți. 17 Când mergeau*Vers. 12., alergau pe toate cele patru laturi ale lor și nu se întorceau deloc în mersul lor. 18 Aveau niște obezi de o înălțime înspăimântătoare și, pe obezile lor, cele patru roți erau pline cu ochi*Cap. 10:12.Zah. 4:10. de jur împrejur. 19 Când mergeau*Cap. 10:16,17. făpturile vii, mergeau și roțile pe lângă ele și, când se ridicau făpturile vii de la pământ, se ridicau și roțile. 20 Unde*Vers. 12. le mâna duhul să meargă, acolo mergeau, încotro voia duhul, și împreună cu ele se ridicau și roțile, căci*Cap. 10:17. duhul făpturilor vii era în roți. 21 Când*Vers. 19,20. Cap. 10:17. mergeau făpturile vii, mergeau și roțile; când se opreau ele, se opreau și roțile; când se ridicau de pe pământ, se ridicau și roțile; căci duhul făpturilor vii era în roți. 22 Deasupra capetelor făpturilor vii era ceva ca o întindere*Cap. 10:1. a cerului, care semăna cu cristalul strălucitor și se întindea în aer sus, peste capetele lor. 23 Sub cerul acesta, aripile lor stăteau drepte, întinse una spre alta, și mai aveau, fiecare, câte două aripi, care le acopereau trupurile. 24 Când*Cap. 10:5. umblau, am auzit vâjâitul aripilor lor ca*Cap. 43:2.Dan. 10:6.Apoc. 1:15. vâjâitul unor ape mari și ca glasul*Iov 37:4,5.Ps. 29:3,4;68:33. Celui Atotputernic. Când mergeau, era un vuiet gălăgios, ca al unei oștiri, iar când se opreau, își lăsau aripile în jos. 25 Și venea un vuiet care pornea de deasupra cerului întins peste capetele lor, iar când se opreau își lăsau aripile în jos. 26 Deasupra*Cap. 10:1. cerului care era peste capetele lor, era ceva ca*Exod 24:10. o piatră de safir, în chipul unui scaun de domnie; pe acest chip de scaun de domnie se vedea ca un chip de om, care ședea pe el. 27 Am*Cap. 8:2. mai văzut iarăși o lucire de aramă lustruită, ca niște foc, înăuntrul căruia era omul acesta și care strălucea de jur împrejur; de la chipul rărunchilor lui până sus și de la chipul rărunchilor lui până jos, am văzut ca un fel de foc și, de jur împrejur, era înconjurat cu o lumină strălucitoare. 28 Ca înfățișarea curcubeului*Apoc. 4:3;10:1., care stă în nor într-o zi de ploaie, așa era și înfățișarea acestei lumini strălucitoare care-l înconjura. Astfel*Cap. 3:23;8:4. era arătarea slavei Domnului. Când am văzut-o, am*Cap. 3:23.Dan. 8:17.Fapte 9:4.Apoc. 1:17. căzut cu fața la pământ și am auzit glasul Unuia care vorbea.
