1 And David said, This is the house of Jehovah Elohim, and this is the altar of burnt-offering for Israel. 2 And David commanded to collect the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God*GodHebrew: Elohim3 And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joists, and brass in abundance without weight; 4 and cedar-trees innumerable; for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought cedar-wood in abundance to David. 5 For David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Jehovah must be exceeding great in fame and in beauty in all lands: I will therefore make preparation for it. And David prepared abundantly before his death.

6 And he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build a house for Jehovah the God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Israel. 7 And David said to Solomon, As for me, my son, I was minded to build a house unto the name of Jehovah my God*GodHebrew: Elohim8 But the word of Jehovah came to me saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build a house unto my name, for thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. 9 Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and in his days I will give peace and quietness unto Israel. 10 He shall build a house unto my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. 11 Now, my son, Jehovah be with thee, that thou mayest prosper, and build the house of Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim as he has said of thee. 12 Only, Jehovah give thee wisdom and understanding, and place thee over Israel, and to keep the law of Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim13 Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to perform the statutes and ordinances which Jehovah commanded Moses for Israel: be strong and courageous; fear not, neither be dismayed. 14 And behold, in my affliction I have prepared for the house of Jehovah a hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight, for it is in abundance; and timber and stone have I prepared; and thou shalt add to it. 15 And there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of skilful men for every kind of work. 16 Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise and be doing and Jehovah be with thee.

17 And David commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying,18 Is not Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim with you? and has he not given you rest on every side? for he has given the inhabitants of the land into my hand; and the land is subdued before Jehovah, and before his people. 19 Now set your heart and your soul to seek Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim and arise and build the sanctuary of Jehovah Elohim, to bring the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and the vessels of the sanctuary of God*GodHebrew: Elohim into the house that is to be built unto the name of Jehovah.

2 David a strâns pe străinii*1 Împ. 9:21. din țara lui Israel și a însărcinat pe cioplitorii de piatră să pregătească pietre cioplite pentru zidirea Casei lui Dumnezeu. 3 A pregătit și fier din belșug pentru cuiele de la aripile ușilor și pentru scoabe, aramă atât de multă, încât nu puteau s-o numere*1 Împ. 7:47. Vers. 14.4 și lemne de cedru fără număr, căci sidonienii*1 Împ. 5:6. și tirienii aduseseră lui David lemne de cedru din belșug. 5 David zicea: „Fiul meu Solomon*Cap. 29:1. este tânăr și plăpând și casa care va fi zidită Domnului trebuie să fie de mare faimă și slavă în toate țările, de aceea vreau să-i pregătesc cele de trebuință pentru zidirea ei." Și David a făcut mari pregătiri înainte de moarte.

6 David a chemat pe fiul său Solomon și i-a poruncit să zidească o casă Domnului Dumnezeului lui Israel. 7 David a zis lui Solomon: „Fiul meu, aveam de gând*2 Sam. 7:2.1 Împ. 8:17. Cap. 17:1; 28:2. să zidesc o casă Numelui*Deut. 12:5,11. Domnului Dumnezeului meu. 8 Dar cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: ‘Tu ai vărsat mult sânge*1 Împ. 5:3. Cap. 28:3. și ai făcut mari războaie, de aceea nu vei zidi o casă Numelui Meu, căci ai vărsat înaintea Mea mult sânge pe pământ. 9 Iată*Cap. 28:5. că ți se va naște un fiu, care va fi un om al odihnei și căruia îi voi da odihnă*1 Împ. 4:25;5:4., izbăvindu-l din mâna tuturor vrăjmașilor lui de jur împrejur, căci numele lui va fi Solomon (Pace), și voi aduce peste Israel pacea și liniștea în timpul vieții lui. 10 El*2 Sam. 7:13.1 Împ. 5:5. Cap. 17:12,13; 28:6. va zidi o casă Numelui Meu. El*Evr. 1:5. Îmi va fi fiu și Eu îi voi fi Tată și voi întări pe vecie scaunul de domnie al împărăției lui în Israel.’ 11 Acum, fiule, Domnul*Vers. 16. să fie cu tine ca să propășești și să zidești Casa Domnului Dumnezeului tău, cum a spus El despre tine! 12 Numai să-ți dea*1 Împ. 3:9,12.Ps. 72:1. Domnul înțelepciune și pricepere și să te facă să domnești peste Israel în păzirea Legii Domnului Dumnezeului tău! 13 Atunci*Ios. 1:7,8. Cap. 28:7. vei propăși, dacă vei căuta să împlinești legile și poruncile pe care le-a dat lui Moise Domnul pentru Israel. Întărește-te și îmbărbătează-te*Deut. 31:7,8.Ios. 1:6,7,9. Cap. 28:20., nu te teme și nu te înspăimânta. 14 Iată, prin străduințele mele, am pregătit pentru Casa Domnului o sută de mii de talanți de aur, un milion de talanți de argint și o mulțime de aramă și de fier care nu se poate cântări*Vers. 3., căci este foarte mult; am pregătit, de asemenea, lemne și pietre și vei mai adăuga și tu. 15 Tu ai la tine un mare număr de lucrători, cioplitori de piatră și tâmplari, și oameni îndemânatici în tot felul de lucrări. 16 Aurul, argintul, arama și fierul sunt fără număr. Scoală-te dar și lucrează și Domnul*Vers. 11. să fie cu tine." 17 David a poruncit tuturor căpeteniilor lui Israel să vină în ajutor fiului său Solomon, zicând: 18 „Domnul Dumnezeul vostru*Deut. 12:10.Ios. 22:4.2 Sam. 7:1. Cap. 23:25. nu este oare cu voi și nu v-a dat El odihnă din toate părțile? Căci a dat în mâinile mele pe locuitorii țării și țara este supusă înaintea Domnului și înaintea poporului Său. 19 Puneți-vă*2 Cron. 30:3. acum inima și sufletul să caute pe Domnul Dumnezeul vostru; sculați-vă și zidiți Sfântul Locaș al Domnului Dumnezeu, ca să aduceți*1 Împ. 8:6,21.2 Cron. 5:7;6:11. chivotul legământului Domnului și uneltele închinate lui Dumnezeu în casa care va fi zidită Numelui*Vers. 7.1 Împ. 5:3. Domnului."
