Ka Whakanuia e Erihu te Painga o te Atua

1 I kōrero anō a Erihu, i mea:

2 "Tukua ahau, kia iti nei, ā, ka whakaatu ahau ki a koe;

3 Ka tīkina atu e ahau tōku mōhio i tawhiti,

ka whakatikaia e ahau tā tōku Kaihanga.

4 E kore rawa hoki; āku kupu e teka;

tēnei kei a koe te tangata kua tino nui tōna mātauranga.

5 "Nanā, he pakari te Atua, e kore anō ia e whakahāwea;

pakari tonu te kaha o tōna mātauranga.

6 E kore te tangata kino e whakaorangia e ia;

māna te hunga mate e whiwhi ai ki ngā mea e tika ana mā rātou.

7 E kore e mutu tāna titiro ki te tangata tika;

engari ka whakanohoia ngātahitia rātou e ia

me ngā kīngi ki runga ki te torōna ake ake,

ā, ka whakanekehia ake hoki rātou.

8 Ki te mea kua herea rātou ki te mekameka,

mau pū i te rāhiri, arā i ngā mate,

9 ā, ka whakakitea e ia ki a rātou tā rātou mahi,

me ō rātou hē, i mea ai rātou i ngā mea whakapehapeha.

10 Ka whakapuaretia anō e ia ō rātou taringa ki te ako,

ā, ka kī kia hoki i te kino.

11 Ki te rongo rātou, ā, ka mahi ki a ia,

ka pau ō rātou rā i runga i te pai,

ō rātou tau i runga i ngā āhuareka.

12 Otirā, ki te kore rātou e rongo, ka ngaro rātou i te hoari,

hemo iho rātou, kāhore hoki he mātauranga.

13 "Ko te hunga whakapono kore ō rātou ngākau,

pūranga rawa i a rātou te riri;

kāhore ā rātou karanga āwhina ina herea rātou e ia.

14 Ka mate rātou i te taitamarikitanga,

ā, ka ngaro tō rātou ora i roto i te hunga poke.

15 Ko tāna he whakaora i te rawakore ina mate,

e whakapuaretia ana e ia ō rātou taringa ina tūkinotia.

16 Āe rā, me koe anō, tērā koe e riro i a ia

i roto i te kūititanga ki te wāhi whānui;

ā, kī tonu i te ngako te mea e whakatakotoria ki runga ki tāu tēpu.

17 "Otiia kī tonu koe i te tikanga a te tangata kino;

ā, mau pū koe i ngā tikanga, i te whakarite whakawā.

18 Nā, i te mea he riri tēnei, kia tūpato kei riro koe i te nui o āu rawa;

aua hoki koe e whakapeautia e te nui o te utu.

19 E ranea rānei ōu rawa, e kore ai koe e taka hē?

Ngā uaua katoa rānei o tōu kaha?

20 Kaua e hiahiatia te pō,

te wā e riro ai ngā tāngata i runga i tō rātou wāhi.

21 Kia tūpato, kaua e tahuri ki te kino;

ki tāu hoki he pai ake tēnei i ngā mate.

22 Nanā, ko te Atua, ko tōna kaha hei whakanui,

ko wai te kaiwhakaako hei rite mōna?

23 Ko wai te kaitohutohu i te ara mōna?

Ko wai hei mea, ‘Kua hē tāu mahi’?"

Ka Kauwhau a Erihu i te Rangatiratanga o te Atua

24 "Kia mahara kia whakanuia e koe tāna mahi,

e waiatatia nei e te tangata.

25 Kua tirohia nei e ngā tāngata katoa

e mātakitakina mai nei e te tangata i tawhiti.

26 Nanā, he nui te Atua, e kore anō e mōhiotia e tātou;

e kore anō hoki te maha o ōna tau e taea te rapu atu.

27 "Ko ia nei hei ngongo ake i ngā pata wai,

ka tauia i tōna kohu hei āwhā;

28 ka ringihia iho nei e ngā kapua,

ā, ka māturuturu nui ki runga ki te tangata.

29 Āe rā, e mōhiotia ana rānei e tētahi ngā horahanga o ngā kapua,

te ngangau o tōna tapenākara?

30 Nanā, e horahia ana e ia tōna mārama ā tawhio noa i a ia;

e hīpokina ana hoki e ia te takere o te moana.

31 Ko āna mea hoki ēnā hei whakawā mō ngā iwi,

nui tonu te kai e hōmai ana e ia.

32 E hīpokina ana e ia ōna ringa ki te uira,

ā, whakahaua iho e ia te wāhi e pā atu ai.

33 Hei kaiwhakaatu i a ia tōna haruru,

e waitohu ana hoki ki ngā kararehe i te tūpuhi meāke puta mai.

1 Elihu also proceeded, and said,

2 Suffer me a little, and I will show thee;

For I have yet somewhat to say on God’s behalf.

3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar,

And will ascribe righteousness to my Maker.

4 For truly my words are not false:

One that is perfect in knowledge is with thee.

5 Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any:

He is mighty in strength of understanding.

6 He preserveth not the life of the wicked,

But giveth to the afflicted their right.

7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous:

But with kings upon the throne

He setteth them for ever, and they are exalted.

8 And if they be bound in fetters,

And be taken in the cords of affliction;

9 Then he showeth them their work,

And their transgressions, that they have behaved themselves proudly.

10 He openeth also their ear to instruction,

And commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11 If they hearken and serve him,

They shall spend their days in prosperity,

And their years in pleasures.

12 But if they hearken not, they shall perish by the sword,

And they shall die without knowledge.

13 But they that are godless in heart lay up anger:

They cry not for help when he bindeth them.

14 They die in youth,

And their life perisheth among the unclean.

15 He delivereth the afflicted by their affliction,

And openeth their ear in oppression.

16 Yea, he would have allured thee out of distress

Into a broad place, where there is no straitness;

And that which is set on thy table would be full of fatness.

17 But thou art full of the judgment of the wicked:

Judgment and justice take hold on thee.

18 For let not wrath stir thee up against chastisements;

Neither let the greatness of the ransom turn thee aside.

19 Will thy cry avail, that thou be not in distress,

Or all the forces of thy strength?

20 Desire not the night,

When peoples are cut off in their place.

21 Take heed, regard not iniquity:

For this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

22 Behold, God doeth loftily in his power:

Who is a teacher like unto him?

23 Who hath enjoined him his way?

Or who can say, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness?

24 Remember that thou magnify his work,

Whereof men have sung.

25 All men have looked thereon;

Man beholdeth it afar off.

26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not;

The number of his years is unsearchable.

27 For he draweth up the drops of water,

Which distil in rain from his vapor,

28 Which the skies pour down

And drop upon man abundantly.

29 Yea, can any understand the spreadings of the clouds,

The thunderings of his pavilion?

30 Behold, he spreadeth his light around him;

And he covereth the bottom of the sea.

31 For by these he judgeth the peoples;

He giveth food in abundance.

32 He covereth his hands with the lightning,

And giveth it a charge that it strike the mark.

33 The noise thereof telleth concerning him,

The cattle also concerning the storm that cometh up.
