Ka Wero a Ihowā i a Hopa hei Whakautu

1 I kōrero mai anō a Ihowā ki a Hopa, i mea:

2 "E tohe ana rānei ki te Kaha Rawa te tangata whakatohutohu?

Mā te tangata e whakatūpehupehu ana ki te Atua, māna e kōrero mai."

Te Whakautu a Hopa ki te Atua

3 Anō rā ko Hopa ki a Ihowā, i mea ia:

4 "Nanā, ehara noa iho ahau; ko te aha tāku e whakahoki atu ai ki a koe?

Ka kōpania tōku ringa ki tōku māngai.

5 Kua kotahi tāku kōrerotanga, ā, e kore ahau e whakahoki kupu atu;

ā, tuarua rawa, otirā kāhore atu āku."

Te Tuma a Ihowā ki a Hopa

6 Kātahi ka whakahokia mai e Ihowā ki a Hopa i roto i te tūkauati, ka mea:

7 "Tēnā rā, whakatāne, whītikiria tōu hope,

ā, ka ui atu ahau ki a koe, māu anō e whakaatu mai ki ahau.

8 Me whakakāhore anō rānei e koe tāku whakawā?

Me whakahē ki ahau kia whakatikaia ai tāu?

9 He ringa pērā rānei tōu i tō te Atua?

He reo whatitiri rānei tōu, he pērā i tōna?

10 "Tēnā rā, rākai i a koe ināianei ki te rangatiratanga, ki te korōria;

tātai i a koe ki te hōnore, ki te mana.

11 Ringihia atu te puhaketanga o tōu riri;

tirohia atu ngā mea whakakake katoa, whakaititia iho.

12 Titiro atu ki ngā mea whakakake katoa, whakapikoa iho;

takahia iho anō hoki te hunga kino i te wāhi e tū nā rātou.

13 Huihuia atu rātou, hunā ki te puehu,

herea ō rātou mata ki te wāhi ngaro.

14 Nā, ko reira ahau whakaae ai ki a koe,

mā tōu ringa matau anō koe e whakaora.

15 "Nā, whakaaroa a Pehemoto,

he mea hanga ngātahi kōrua nāku;

e kai rā i te tarutaru, ānō he kau.

16 Nanā, ko tōna kaha kei tōna hope,

ko tōna pakaritanga kei ngā uaua o tōna kōpū.

17 Ko tōna hiawero, ānō he hīta e tāwhiria ana e ia;

pōwhiwhiwhi tonu ngā uaua o tōna hūhā.

18 Ko ōna wheua, ānō he kōrere parāhi;

ko ōna rara, he poro rino.

19 "Ko ia te tino mea nui o ngā ara o te Atua –

ko tōna kaihanga anake hei whakapā i tāna hoari ki a ia.

20 He pono ko ngā maunga hei hōmai kai māna;

kei reira anō e tākaro ana ngā kīrehe katoa o te pārae.

21 Ko tōna takotoranga ko raro i ngā rākau kōuru nui,

i te rake kākaho, i te repo.

22 Hei taupoki mōna te whakamarumaru o ngā rākau kōuru nui,

kei tētahi taha ōna, kei tētahi taha, ngā wirou o te awa.

23 Nanā, ki te āki mai te waipuke, e kore ia e tūiri;

ū tonu tōna whakaaro, ahakoa kōkiri noa mai a Horano ki tōna māngai.

24 E hopukia rānei ia e tētahi i a ia e mataara ana,

e poka rānei i tōna ihu ki te rore, puta noa?

1 Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said,

2 Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty?

He that argueth with God, let him answer it.

3 Then Job answered Jehovah, and said,

4 Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer thee?

I lay my hand upon my mouth.

5 Once have I spoken, and I will not answer;

Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further.

6 Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

7 Gird up thy loins now like a man:

I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.

8 Wilt thou even annul my judgment?

Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

9 Or hast thou an arm like God?

And canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

10 Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity;

And array thyself with honor and majesty.

11 Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger;

And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him.

12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low;

And tread down the wicked where they stand.

13 Hide them in the dust together;

Bind their faces in the hidden place.

14 Then will I also confess of thee

That thine own right hand can save thee.

15 Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee;

He eateth grass as an ox.

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins,

And his force is in the muscles of his belly.

17 He moveth his tail like a cedar:

The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

18 His bones are as tubes of brass;

His limbs are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God:

He only that made him giveth him his sword.

20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food,

Where all the beasts of the field do play.

21 He lieth under the lotus-trees,

In the covert of the reed, and the fen.

22 The lotus-trees cover him with their shade;

The willows of the brook compass him about.

23 Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not;

He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth.

24 Shall any take him when he is on the watch,

Or pierce through his nose with a snare?
