1 Grande é o Senhor

e mui digno de ser louvado,

na cidade do nosso Deus,

seu santo monte.

2 Alto e belo, alegria

de toda a terra,

é o monte Sião,

para os lados do Norte,

a cidade do grande Rei.

3 Nos palácios dela,

Deus se faz conhecer

como alto refúgio.

4 Por isso, eis que os reis se uniram

e juntos a atacaram.

5 Quando viram, se espantaram;

ficaram com medo

e fugiram apressados.

6 O terror ali os venceu,

e sentiram dores como de mulher

que está dando à luz.

7 Com vento leste destruíste

as naus de Társis.

8 Como temos ouvido dizer,

agora vimos que aconteceu

na cidade do Senhor dos Exércitos,

na cidade do nosso Deus.

Deus a estabelece para sempre.

9 Pensamos, ó Deus,

na tua misericórdia

no meio do teu templo.

10 Como o teu nome, ó Deus,

assim o teu louvor se estende

até os confins da terra;

a tua mão direita

está cheia de justiça.

11 Alegre-se o monte Sião,

exultem as filhas de Judá,

por causa dos teus juízos.

12 Andem em volta de Sião,

rodeiem-na toda,

contem as suas torres;

13 notem bem as suas muralhas,

observem os seus palácios,

para que possam contar

às gerações vindouras

14 que este é Deus,

o nosso Deus para todo o sempre;

ele será nosso guia até a morte.

In the city of our God, in his holy mountain.

2 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth,

Is mount Zion, on the sides of the north,

The city of the great King.

3 God hath made himself known in her palaces for a refuge.

4 For, lo, the kings assembled themselves,

They passed by together.

5 They saw it, then were they amazed;

They were dismayed, they hasted away.

6 Trembling took hold of them there,

Pain, as of a woman in travail.

7 With the east wind

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

8 As we have heard, so have we seen

In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God:

God will establish it for ever. [Selah

9 We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God,

In the midst of thy temple.

10 As is thy name, O God,

So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth:

Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let mount Zion be glad,

Let the daughters of Judah rejoice,

Because of thy judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her;

Number the towers thereof;

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks;

Consider her palaces:

That ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever:

He will be our guide even unto death.
