13 For what reason does the wicked contemn (despise with mockery; show contempt) God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered]? he has said in his heart, youi will not require [it].
14 Youi have seen [it]; for youi behold mischief and spite (anger toward someone; grief), to requite (repay) [it] with youri hand: the poor commits himself unto youi; youi are the helper of the fatherless.
13 Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

13 Why does the wicked man revile God?
Why does he say to himself,
"He won’t call me to account"?
14 But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted;
you consider their grief and take it in hand.
The victims commit themselves to you;
you are the helper of the fatherless.

and say in his heart, "You will not Ps. 9:12call to account"?
14 But you do see, for you Ps. 33:13note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;

13 Why do the wicked get away with despising God?
They think, "God will never call us to account."
14 But you see the trouble and grief they cause.
You take note of it and punish them.
The helpless put their trust in you.
You defend the orphans.
13 Why do the wicked renounce God?
He has said in his heart,
"You will not require anaccount."
14 But You have (Ps. 11:4)seen, for You observe trouble and grief,
To repay it by Your hand.
The helpless (2 Tim. 1:12)commits himself to You;
Ps. 68:5; Hos. 14:3You are the helper of the fatherless.
13 Why has the wicked treated God disrespectfully?
He has said to himself, "10:13 I.e., as though God will ignore itYou will not require an account."
