1 — Chamem a seus irmãos Ami, e a suas irmãs Ruama.*2.1 Ami significa meu povo; e Ruama significa amada.

2 "Repreendam a sua mãe, repreendam-na,

pois ela não é a minha esposa,

e eu não sou o seu marido.

Que ela retire do rosto as suas prostituições

e do meio dos seios os seus adultérios.

3 Do contrário, eu a deixarei nua

como no dia em que nasceu.

Farei dela um deserto,

uma terra ressequida,

e a matarei de sede.

4 Não tratarei com compaixão os seus filhos,

porque são filhos de prostituição.

5 A mãe deles se prostituiu,

engravidou deles e está coberta de vergonha.

Pois ela disse: ‘Irei atrás dos meus amantes,

que me dão comida, água,

lã, linho, azeite e bebida’.

6 Por isso, bloquearei o seu caminho com espinheiros;

eu a cercarei com um muro

de modo que ela não encontre as suas veredas.

7 Ela correrá atrás dos seus amantes, mas não os alcançará;

procurará por eles, mas não os encontrará.

Então, ela dirá:

‘Irei e voltarei ao meu primeiro marido,

pois eu estava bem melhor do que agora’.

8 Ela não reconheceu que fui eu

quem lhe deu o trigo, o vinho e o azeite,

quem lhe multiplicou a prata e o ouro,

que depois usaram para Baal.

9 "Por isso, voltarei e levarei o meu trigo quando ele amadurecer,

e o meu vinho, quando ficar pronto.

Arrancarei dela a minha lã e o meu linho,

que serviam para cobrir a sua nudez.

10 Pois, agora, vou expor a sua vergonha

diante dos olhos dos seus amantes,

e ninguém a livrará das minhas mãos.

11 Acabarei com toda a sua alegria:

as suas festas anuais, as suas Festas da Lua Nova,

os seus dias de sábado e todas as suas festas fixas.

12 Arruinarei as suas videiras e as suas figueiras,

das quais ela disse:

‘Estes são os meus pagamentos

recebidos dos meus amantes’.

Farei delas um matagal,

e os animais selvagens as devorarão.

13 Eu a castigarei pelos dias

em que queimou incenso aos baalins.

Ela se enfeitou com anéis e joias

e foi atrás dos seus amantes,

mas se esqueceu de mim", declara o Senhor.

14 "Portanto, agora, vou atraí-la;

vou levá-la para o deserto

e falar-lhe com ternura.

15 Ali devolverei a ela as suas vinhas

e farei do vale de Acor*2.15 Acor significa desgraça. uma porta de esperança.

Ali ela me responderá como nos dias da sua infância,

como no dia em que saiu do Egito.

16 "Naquele dia", declara o Senhor,

"você me chamará ‘meu marido’

e não mais me chamará ‘meu senhor’.*2.16 O termo hebraico para senhor poderia ser empregado tanto como termo de respeito quanto para se referir ao deus cananeu Baal.

17 Tirarei dos seus lábios os nomes dos baalins,

e os nomes deles não serão mais lembrados.

18 Naquele dia, em favor deles farei um acordo

com os animais do campo, com as aves do céu

e com os animais rastejantes da terra.

Arco, espada e guerra,

eu os abolirei da terra,

para que todos possam dormir em segurança.

19 Eu me casarei com você para sempre;

eu me casarei com você com justiça e retidão,

com amor e compaixão.

20 Eu me casarei com você com fidelidade,

e você conhecerá o Senhor.

21 "Naquele dia, eu responderei",

declara o Senhor.

"Responderei aos céus,

e eles responderão à terra;

22 e a terra responderá ao cereal,

ao vinho novo e ao azeite,

e eles responderão a Jezreel.*2.22 Jezreel significa Deus planta.

23 Eu a plantarei para mim mesmo na terra;

tratarei com amor aquela que chamei Não amada.*2.23 Hebraico: Lo-Ruama.

Direi àquele chamado Não meu povo:*2.23 Hebraico: Lo-Ami. ‘Você é o meu povo’;

e ele dirá: ‘Tu és o meu Deus’."

2 "Rebuke your mother, rebuke her,

for she is not my wife,

and I am not her husband.

Let her remove the adulterous look from her face

and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.

3 Otherwise I will strip her naked

and make her as bare as on the day she was born;

I will make her like a desert,

turn her into a parched land,

and slay her with thirst.

4 I will not show my love to her children,

because they are the children of adultery.

5 Their mother has been unfaithful

and has conceived them in disgrace.

She said, ‘I will go after my lovers,

who give me my food and my water,

my wool and my linen, my olive oil and my drink.’

6 Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes;

I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.

7 She will chase after her lovers but not catch them;

she will look for them but not find them.

Then she will say,

‘I will go back to my husband as at first,

for then I was better off than now.’

8 She has not acknowledged that I was the one

who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil,

who lavished on her the silver and gold—

which they used for Baal.

9 "Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens,

and my new wine when it is ready.

I will take back my wool and my linen,

intended to cover her naked body.

10 So now I will expose her lewdness

before the eyes of her lovers;

no one will take her out of my hands.

11 I will stop all her celebrations:

her yearly festivals, her New Moons,

her Sabbath days—all her appointed festivals.

12 I will ruin her vines and her fig trees,

which she said were her pay from her lovers;

I will make them a thicket,

and wild animals will devour them.

13 I will punish her for the days

she burned incense to the Baals;

she decked herself with rings and jewelry,

and went after her lovers,

but me she forgot,"

declares the Lord.

14 "Therefore I am now going to allure her;

I will lead her into the wilderness

and speak tenderly to her.

15 There I will give her back her vineyards,

and will make the Valley of Achor*2:15 Achor means trouble. a door of hope.

There she will respond*2:15 Or sing as in the days of her youth,

as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

16 "In that day," declares the Lord,

"you will call me ‘my husband’;

you will no longer call me ‘my master.*2:16 Hebrew baal’

17 I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips;

no longer will their names be invoked.

18 In that day I will make a covenant for them

with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky

and the creatures that move along the ground.

Bow and sword and battle

I will abolish from the land,

so that all may lie down in safety.

19 I will betroth you to me forever;

I will betroth you in*2:19 Or with; also in verse 20 righteousness and justice,

in*2:19 Or with love and compassion.

20 I will betroth you in faithfulness,

and you will acknowledge the Lord.

21 "In that day I will respond,"

declares the Lord—

"I will respond to the skies,

and they will respond to the earth;

22 and the earth will respond to the grain,

the new wine and the olive oil,

and they will respond to Jezreel.*2:22 Jezreel means God plants.

23 I will plant her for myself in the land;

I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.*2:23 Hebrew Lo-Ruhamah (see 1:6)’

I will say to those called ‘Not my people,*2:23 Hebrew Lo-Ammi (see 1:9)’ ‘You are my people’;

and they will say, ‘You are my God.’ "
