1 Aleluia! Louve, ó minha alma ao Senhor.2 Louvarei ao Senhor por toda a minha vida; cantarei louvores ao meu Deus enquanto eu viver.3 Não confiem em príncipes, em meros mortais, incapazes de salvar.4 Quando o espírito deles se vai, voltam ao pó; naquele mesmo dia acabam-se os seus planos.5 Como é feliz aquele cujo auxílio é o Deus de Jacó, cuja esperança está no Senhor, no seu Deus,6 que fez os céus e a terra, o mar e tudo o que neles há, e que mantém a sua fidelidade para sempre!7 Ele defende a causa dos oprimidos e dá alimento aos famintos. O Senhor liberta os presos,8 o Senhor dá vista aos cegos, o Senhor levanta os abatidos, o Senhor ama os justos.9 O Senhor protege o estrangeiro e sustém o órfão e a viúva, mas frustra o propósito dos ímpios.10 O Senhor reina para sempre! O teu Deus, ó Sião, reina de geração em geração. Aleluia!

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises to my God while I have any being.3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:6 Who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that is in them: who keepeth truth for ever:7 Who executeth judgment for the oppressed: who giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:8 The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:9 The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.10 The LORD will reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, to all generations.
