1 Como é que acontece que quando têm alguma coisa contra outro cristão esperam que seja um tribunal secular a decidir a questão, em vez de a resolverem entre crentes?2 Não sabem que nós, os cristãos, havemos de julgar o mundo? Como é que não são capazes de encontrar solução para essas pequenas divergências no vosso meio?3 Não compreendem que nós, cristãos, julgaremos até os anjos? Por isso deveriam ser capazes de resolver no vosso meio os problemas desta vida.4 Se têm questões legais para resolver, por que vão procurar os juízes lá fora que não são respeitados pela igreja?5 Digo isto para vossa vergonha. Será que em toda a igreja não há ninguém capaz de resolver tais diferendos?6 É assim pois necessário que um cristão chegue ao ponto de meter um outro em processo, e acusar o seu irmão na presença de descrentes?7 Que tais processos possam existir já é uma derrota para vocês como cristãos. Porque não receber simplesmente a ofensa sem reagir? Seria melhor ficar-se antes prejudicado.8 Mas em vez disso são vocês mesmos que fazem o mal, enganando-se uns aos outros, até aos próprios irmãos na fé.9 Não sabem que quem faz tais coisas não pode participar no reino de Deus? Não se deixem enganar; ninguém que viva na imoralidade sexual, que pratique a idolatria ou o adultério ou a homossexualidade terá parte no seu reino; nem tão-pouco os espoliadores, os avarentos, os bêbedos, os caluniadores, os violentadores.11 E houve um tempo em que alguns de vocês foram como eles. Mas agora os vossos pecados foram lavados, e vocês foram separados para Deus, o qual vos aceitou em razão daquilo que o Senhor Jesus Cristo e o Espírito do nosso Deus fez por vocês.12 Tudo me é permitido mas nem tudo convém. Tudo me é permitido , mas eu não me deixarei dominar por coisa alguma.13 Por exemplo, a comida: Deus deu-nos apetite para o alimento e um estômago para o digerir. Mas o dia vai vir em que Deus acabará tanto com o estômago como com o alimento. Já com a prostituição o caso não é o mesmo porque não foi para tal que os nossos corpos foram feitos, mas para Deus, que os quer encher dele mesmo.14 E Deus, pelo seu poder, ressuscitará os nossos corpos dentre os mortos, tal como ressuscitou nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo.15 Não estão a ver que os vossos corpos são membros de Cristo? Sendo assim poderia eu tomar uma dessas partes de Cristo e uni-la a uma prostituta? Nunca.16 Não sabem vocês que aquele que se junta com uma prostituta se torna parte dela e ela dele? Porque Deus diz-nos na Escritura: Os dois se tornam num só .17 Mas aquele que se der ao Senhor, torna-se um só espírito com ele.18 Fujam de toda a ligação sexual ilícita! Nunca outro pecado atinge tanto o corpo como este; é como um pecado contra o seu próprio corpo.19 Não aprenderam já que o vosso corpo é a morada do Espírito Santo que Deus vos deu e que vive portanto em vocês. Por isso o vosso corpo não vos pertence.20 Porque Deus vos comprou por um preço elevado. Sendo assim, usem todo o vosso ser, tanto o corpo como o espírito, para a glória de Deus, porque a ele pertencem.

1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?2 Do ye not know that the saints will judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more, things that pertain to this life?4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that will be able to judge between his brethren?6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before unbelievers.7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?8 But ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.12 All things are lawful to me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.13 Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for lewdness, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.14 And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.15 Know ye not, that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? By no means.16 What? know ye not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.17 But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit.18 Flee lewdness. Every sin that a man doeth, is without the body; but he that committeth lewdness, sinneth against his own body.19 What, know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God, and ye are not your own?20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
