1 And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers unto David, and timber of cedars, with masons and artificers, to build for him a house.2 So David perceived, that Yahweh, had confirmed him, as king over Israel,that his kingship was exalted, for the sake of his people Israel.3 And David took more wives, in Jerusalem,and David begat more sons and daughters.4 Now, these, are the names of them who were born, whom he had in Jerusalem,Shammua and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon;5 and Ibhar and Elishua, and Elpelet;6 and Nogah and Nepheg, and Japhia;7 and Elishama and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.8 And, when the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek to secure David,and David, hearing, went out against them.9 Now, the Philistines, had come and spread themselves out, in the vale of Rephaim.10 Then David asked of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into my hand? And Yahweh said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into thy hand.11 So they came up in Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and David said, God hath broken forth against mine enemies by my hand, like the breaking forth of waters,For this cause, called they the name of that place, Baal-perazim.12 And they left their gods there,and David gave the word, and they were burned up in fire.13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves out in the vale.14 So David, asked again, of God, and God said to him, Thou shalt not go up after them,get thee round, away from them, so shalt thou come in upon them, over against the mulberry-trees;15 and it shall be, when thou hearest a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry-trees, then, shalt thou go forth into the battle,for God will have gone forth before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.16 So David did as God commanded him,and they smote the host of the Philistines, from Gibeon even unto Gezer.17 And the name of David went forth, throughout all the lands,and, Yahweh, put the dread of him upon all the nations.

1 Então, Hirão, rei de Tiro, mandou mensageiros a Davi, e madeira de cedro, e pedreiros, e carpinteiros, para lhe edificar uma casa. 2 E entendeu Davi que o Senhor o tinha confirmado rei sobre Israel; porque o seu reino se tinha muito exaltado por amor do seu povo Israel.

3 E Davi tomou ainda mais mulheres em Jerusalém; e gerou Davi ainda mais filhos e filhas. 4 E estes são os nomes dos filhos que tinha em Jerusalém: Samua, e Sobabe, Natã, e Salomão, 5 e Ibar, e Elisua, e Elpelete, 6 e Nogá, e Nefegue, e Jafia, 7 e Elisama, e Beeliada, e Elifelete.

8 Ouvindo, pois, os filisteus que Davi havia sido ungido rei sobre todo o Israel, todos os filisteus subiram em busca de Davi; o que ouvindo Davi, logo saiu contra eles. 9 E, vindo os filisteus, se estenderam pelo vale dos Refains. 10 Então, consultou Davi a Deus, dizendo: Subirei contra os filisteus, e nas minhas mãos os entregarás? E o Senhor lhe disse: Sobe, porque os entregarei nas tuas mãos. 11 E, subindo a Baal-Perazim, Davi ali os feriu; e disse Davi: Por minha mão, Deus derrotou a meus inimigos, como a rotura das águas. Pelo que chamaram o nome daquele lugar Baal-Perazim. 12 E deixaram ali seus deuses; e ordenou Davi que se queimassem a fogo.

13 Porém os filisteus tornaram e se estenderam pelo vale. 14 E tornou Davi a consultar a Deus; e disse-lhe Deus: Não subirás atrás deles; mas anda em roda por detrás deles e vem a eles por defronte das amoreiras; 15 e há de ser que, ouvindo tu um ruído de andadura pelas copas das amoreiras, então, sai à peleja; porque Deus haverá saído diante de ti, a ferir o exército dos filisteus. 16 E fez Davi como Deus lhe ordenara; e feriram o exército dos filisteus desde Gibeão até Gezer. 17 Assim se espalhou o nome de Davi por todas aquelas terras; e o Senhor pôs o seu temor sobre todas aquelas gentes.
