1 Now these, are they who came unto David, to Ziklag, he yet being shut up, because of Saul son of Kish,and, they, were among the heroes, helpers in the war;2 armed with the bow, using right hand or left with stones, and with arrows in the bow,of the brethren of Saul, out of Benjamin:3 the chief, Ahiezer, and Joash, sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth,and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite;4 and Ishmaiah, the Gibeonite, a hero among the thirty, and over the thirty,and Jeremiah and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad, the Gederathite;5 Eluzai and Jerimoth and Bealiah and Shemariah, and Shephatiah, the Haruphite;6 Elkanah and Isshiah, and Azarel, and Joezer and Jashobeam, the Korahites;7 and Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham, of Gedor.8 And, of the Gadites, there separated themselves unto David, to the stronghold towards the desert, heroes of valour, men of war, for battle, men that could handle shield and spear,and, faces of lions, were their faces, and, like gazelles upon the mountains, were they, for swiftness:9 Ezer, the chief, Obadiah, the second,Eliab, the third;10 Mashmannah, the fourth, Jeremiah, the fifth;11 Attai, the sixth, Eliel the seventh;12 Johanan, the eighth, Elzabad, the ninth;13 Jeremiah, the tenth, Machbannai, the eleventh.14 These, were of the sons of Gad, chiefs of the host,one to a hundred, the least, and, the greatest, to a thousand.15 These, are they who passed over the Jordan, in the first month, when, it, was full, over all its banks,and they put to flight all them of the vales, to the east and to the west.16 And there came, of the sons of Benjamin, and Judah, as far as the stronghold, unto David.17 And David went forth to meet them, and responded, and said to them, If, peaceably, ye are come unto me, to help me, I shall have towards you, a heart for unity,but, if to betray me to mine adversaries, there being no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and rebuke!18 Then, the spirit, clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, Thine, O David, Yea, with, thee, O son of Jesse! Prosperity, prosperity to thee, And prosperity to thy helpers, For thy God, hath helped thee: So David accepted them, and set them among the chiefs of the band.19 And, of Manasseh, there fell away unto David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle, but they helped them not,for the lords of the Philistines advisedly sent him away, saying, At the price of our heads, he might fall away to his master, Saul.20 When he went into Ziklag, there fell away unto him, of Manasseh, Adnah and Jozabad, and Jediael and Michael and Jozabad, and Elihu and Zillethai,chiefs of the thousands that pertained to Manasseh;21 and, they, helped with David, against the band, for, heroes of valour, were they all,and they became captains in the host;22 for, from day to day, there came unto David, to help him,until it was a great camp, like a camp of God.23 And, these, are the numbers of the chiefs armed for war, they came unto David, to Hebron,to turn round the kingdom of Saul unto him, according to the bidding of Yahweh:24 Sons of Judah, bearers of shield and spear, six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.25 Of sons of Simeon, heroes of valour for the war, seven thousand, and one hundred.26 Of the sons of Levi, four thousand, and six hundred.27 And Jehoiada, was chief ruler for Aaron,and, with him, three thousand and seven hundred;28 and Zadok, a young man, a hero of valour,and the house of his father, captains twenty and two.29 And, of the sons of Benjamin, brethren of Saul, three thousand,and, hitherto, the greater part of them, had been keeping the charge of the house of Saul.30 And, of the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand, and eight hundred,heroes of valour, men of renown, to their ancestral house.31 And, of the half tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were distinguished by name, coming in to make David king.32 And, of the sons of Issachar, such as were of good understanding of the times, to know what Israel, should do, their chiefs, were two hundred, and, all their brethren, were at their bidding.33 Of Zebulunsuch as were ready to go forth in host, expert for battle with all weapons of war, fifty thousand,and for setting in array, not of two minds!34 And, of Naphtali, a thousand captains,and, with them, with shield and spear, thirty-seven thousand.35 And, of the Danite, expert for war, twenty-eight thousand, and six hundred.36 And, of Asher, such as were ready to go forth in host to set in array for battle, forty thousand.37 And, from over the Jordan, of the Reubenites and Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of weapons of war for battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.38 All these, being men of war, expert in setting in battle-array, with a perfect heart, came to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel,moreover also, all the rest of Israel, were of one heart to make David king.39 So they were there, with David, three days, eating and drinking,for their brethren had made preparation for them.40 Moreover also, they who were near of kin unto them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, were bringing bread, on asses and on camels and on mules and on oxen, meal-food, cakes of figs and cakes of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheepin abundance,for there was joy Israel.

1 Estes, porém, são os que vieram a Davi, a Ziclague, sendo ele ainda fugitivo, por causa de Saul, filho de Quis; e eram dos valentes que ajudaram nesta guerra. 2 Armados de arco, usavam da mão direita e esquerda em atirar pedras e em despedir flechas com o arco; eram estes dos irmãos de Saul, benjamitas:

3 Aiezer, o chefe, e Joás, filhos de Semaá, o gibeatita; Jeziel e Pelete, filhos de Azmavete; e Beraca, e Jeú, o anatotita; 4 e Ismaías, o gibeonita, valente entre os trinta e capitão dos trinta; Jeremias, e Jaaziel, e Joanã, e Jozabade, o gederatita; 5 Eluzai, e Jerimote, e Bealias, e Semarias, e Sefatias, o harufita; 6 Elcana, e Issias, e Azarel, e Joezer, e Jasobeão, os coraítas; 7 e Joela, e Zebadias, filhos de Jeroão, de Gedor.

8 E dos gaditas se retiraram a Davi, ao lugar forte no deserto, varões valentes, homens de guerra para pelejar, armados com rodela e lança; e seus rostos eram como rostos de leões, e eles eram ligeiros como corças sobre os montes; 9 Eser, o cabeça, Obadias, o segundo, Eliabe, o terceiro, 10 Mismana, o quarto, Jeremias, o quinto, 11 Atai, o sexto, Eliel, o sétimo, 12 Joanã, o oitavo, Elzabade, o nono, 13 Jeremias, o décimo, Macbanai, o undécimo; 14 estes, dos filhos de Gade, foram os capitães do exército; um dos menores tinha o cargo de cem, e o maior, de mil. 15 Estes são os que passaram o Jordão no mês primeiro, quando ele transbordava por todas as suas ribanceiras, e fizeram fugir a todos os dos vales para o oriente e para o ocidente.

16 Também vieram alguns dos filhos de Benjamim e de Judá a Davi, ao lugar forte. 17 E Davi lhes saiu ao encontro e lhes falou, dizendo: Se vós vindes a mim pacificamente e para me ajudar, o meu coração se unirá convosco; porém, se é para me entregardes aos meus inimigos, sem que haja deslealdade nas minhas mãos, o Deus de nossos pais o veja e o repreenda. 18 Então, entrou o Espírito em Amasai, chefe de trinta, e disse: Nós somos teus, ó Davi! E contigo estamos, ó filho de Jessé! Paz, paz seja contigo! E paz com quem te ajuda! Pois que teu Deus te ajuda. E Davi os recebeu e os fez capitães das tropas.

19 Também de Manassés alguns passaram a Davi, quando veio com os filisteus para a batalha contra Saul, ainda que não ajudaram os filisteus; porque os príncipes dos filisteus, com conselho, o despediram, dizendo: À custa de nossa cabeça passará a Saul, seu senhor. 20 Voltando ele, pois, a Ziclague, passaram para ele, de Manassés, Adna, e Jozabade, e Jediael, e Micael, e Jozabade, e Eliú, e Ziletai, chefes de milhares dos de Manassés. 21 E estes ajudaram a Davi contra aquela tropa, porque todos eles eram heróis valentes e foram capitães no exército. 22 Porque, naquele tempo, de dia em dia, vinham a Davi para o ajudar, até que se fez um grande exército, como exército de Deus.

23 Ora, este é o número dos chefes armados para a peleja, que vieram a Davi em Hebrom, para transferir a ele o reino de Saul, conforme a palavra do Senhor: 24 dos filhos de Judá, que traziam rodela e lança, seis mil e oitocentos, armados para a peleja; 25 dos filhos de Simeão, varões valentes para pelejar, sete mil e cem; 26 dos filhos de Levi, quatro mil e seiscentos. 27 Joiada, porém, era o chefe dos de Arão, e com ele vieram três mil e setecentos; 28 Zadoque, sendo ainda jovem, varão valente, da família de seu pai, trouxe vinte e dois príncipes. 29 E dos filhos de Benjamim, irmãos de Saul, vieram três mil, porque até então havia ainda muitos deles que eram pela casa de Saul; 30 dos filhos de Efraim, vinte mil e oitocentos varões valentes, homens de nome em casa de seus pais; 31 da meia tribo de Manassés, dezoito mil, que foram apontados pelos seus nomes para vir a fazer rei a Davi; 32 dos filhos de Issacar, destros na ciência dos tempos, para saberem o que Israel devia fazer, duzentos de seus chefes e todos os seus irmãos, que seguiam a sua palavra; 33 de Zebulom, dos que saíam ao exército, ordenados para a peleja com todas as armas de guerra, cinquenta mil, também destros, para ordenarem uma batalha com coração constante; 34 de Naftali, mil capitães e com eles trinta e sete mil com rodela e lança; 35 dos danitas, ordenados para a peleja, vinte e oito mil e seiscentos; 36 de Aser, dos que saíam para o exército, para ordenarem a batalha, quarenta mil; 37 da banda dalém do Jordão, dos rubenitas e gaditas e da meia tribo de Manassés, com toda sorte de instrumentos de guerra para pelejar, cento e vinte mil.

38 Todos estes homens de guerra, postos em ordem de batalha, com coração inteiro, vieram a Hebrom para levantar a Davi rei sobre todo o Israel; e também todo o resto de Israel tinha o mesmo coração para levantar a Davi rei. 39 E estiveram ali com Davi três dias, comendo e bebendo; porque seus irmãos lhes tinham preparado as provisões. 40 E também seus vizinhos de mais perto, até Issacar, e Zebulom, e Naftali, trouxeram pão sobre jumentos, e sobre camelos, e sobre mulos, e sobre bois, provisões de farinha, pastas de figos, e cachos de passas, e vinho, e azeite, e bois, e gado miúdo em abundância; porque havia alegria em Israel.
