1 Then did all Israel gather themselves together to David, unto Hebron, saying,Lo! thy bone and thy flesh, are we.2 Moreover also, in time past even when Saul was king, thou, wast he that led out and brought in Israel,and Yahweh thy God said unto thee, Thou, shalt shepherd my people Israel, Yea, thou, shalt be chief ruler, over my people Israel.3 Thus came all the elders of Israel unto the king, to Hebron, and David solemnised to them a covenant in Hebron, before Yahweh,and they anointed David to be king over Israel, according to the word of Yahweh, through Samuel.4 Then went David and all Israel to Jerusalem, the same, was Jebus,where were the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land.5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said unto David, Thou shalt not come in hither,But David captured the citadel of Zion, the same, is the city of David.6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites, first, shall become a chief, and a ruler,So then Joab son of Zeruiah, went up first, and became a chief.7 And David dwelt in the citadel,for this cause, did they call it, The City of David.8 And he built the city round about, from Millo even as far as the circuit,but, Joab, suffered the remainder of the city to live.9 Thus did David wax greater and yet greater,and, Yahweh of Hosts, was with him.10 Now, these, are the chiefs of the heroes, that pertained to David, who held strongly with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king,according to the word of Yahweh, concerning Israel.11 And, this, is the number of the heroes who pertained to David,Jashobeam son of a Hachmonite, chief of the thirty, the same, brandished his spear over three hundredslain at one time.12 And, after him, was Eleazar son of Dodai, the Ahohite,he, was among the three heroes;13 he, was with David in Pas-dammim, where, the Philistines, were gathered together to battle, and there was a field-plot full of barley,and, the people, fled, from before the Philistines;14 so they took their stand in the midst of the plot and rescued it, and smote the Philistines,and Yahweh wrought a great victory.15 And three of the thirty chiefs went down upon the rock, unto David, into the cave of Adullam,a host of Philistines, being encamped in the vale of Rephaim.16 Now, David, then was in the stronghold,and, a garrison of Philistines, then was in Bethlehem.17 And David longed, and saidWho will give me to drink of the water, out of the well of Bethlehem, that is within the gate?18 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was within the gate, and bare it, and brought it in unto David,yet would not David drink it, but poured it out unto Yahweh;19 and saidFar be it from me, of my God, that I should do this! The blood of these men, shall I drink, with their lives? For, with their lives, have they brought it! So he would not drink it. These things, did the three heroes.20 And, Abishai brother of Joabhe, was the chief of three, he, having brandished his spear against three hundredwho were slain,and so, he, had a name among three.21 Of the three in the second rank, was he honourable, therefore became he their captain,though, unto the three, did he not attain.22 Benaiah, son of Jehoiada, son of a man of valour, hero of many a deed, from Kabzielhe, smote the two of Ariel of Moab, he, also went down and smote a lion in the midst of a pit, in time of snow;23 he, also smote an Egyptian, a man of stature, five cubits, and, in the hand of the Egyptian, was a spear like a weavers beam, so he went down unto him with a staff,and wrested the spear out of the hand of the Egyptian, and slew him with his spear.24 These things, did Benaiah son of Jehoiada, so, he, had a name among three heroes.25 Among the thirty, lo! honourable, was he, but, unto the three, did he not attain,howbeit David set him over his council.26 Now, the heroes of the forces, were,Asahel, brother of Joab, Elhanan, son of Dodo, of Bethlehem;27 Shammoth, the Harorite, Helez the Paltite;28 Ira, son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Anathothite;29 Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite;30 Maharai, the Netophathite, Heled, son of Baanah, the Netophathite;31 Ithai, son of Ribai, of Gibeah, of the sons of Benjamin,Benaiah, the Pirathonite;32 Hurai, of the torrents of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite;33 Azmaveth, the Baharumite, Eliahba, the Shaalbonite;34 the sons of Hashem, the Gizonite, Jonathan, son of Shageh, the Hararite;35 Ahiam, son of Sacar, the Hararite, Eliphal, son of Ur;36 Hepher, the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite;37 Hezro, the Carmelite, Naarai, son of Ezbai;38 Joel, brother of Nathan, Mibhar son of Hagri;39 Zelek, the Ammonite,Naharai, the Berothite, the armour-bearer of Joab son of Zeruiah;40 Ira, the Ithrite, Gareb, the Ithrite;41 Uriah, the Hittite, Zabad son of Ahlai;42 Adina, son of Shiza, the Reubenite, a chief of the Reubenites and over the thirty;43 Hanan, son of Maacah, and Joshaphat, the Mithnite;44 Uzzia, the Ashterathite,Shama, and Jeiel, sons of Hotham, the Aroerite;45 Jediael, son of Shimri, and Joha, his brother, the Tizite;46 Eliel, the Mahavite, and Jeribai and Joshaviah, sons of Elnaam,and Ithmah the Moabite;47 Eliel, and Obed, and Jaasiel, of Zobah.

1 Então, todo o Israel se ajuntou a Davi em Hebrom, dizendo: Eis que somos teus ossos e tua carne. 2 E também já dantes, sendo Saul ainda rei, eras tu o que fazias sair e entrar a Israel; também o Senhor, teu Deus, te disse: Tu apascentarás o meu povo de Israel e tu serás chefe sobre o meu povo de Israel. 3 Também vieram todos os anciãos de Israel ao rei, a Hebrom, e Davi fez com eles aliança em Hebrom, perante o Senhor; e ungiram Davi rei sobre Israel, conforme a palavra do Senhor pelo ministério de Samuel.

4 E partiu Davi e todo o Israel para Jerusalém, que é Jebus, porque ali estavam os jebuseus, moradores da terra. 5 E disseram os moradores de Jebus a Davi: Tu não entrarás aqui. Porém Davi ganhou a fortaleza de Sião, que é a Cidade de Davi. 6 Porque disse Davi: Qualquer que primeiro ferir os jebuseus será chefe e maioral. Então, Joabe, filho de Zeruia, subiu primeiro a ela, pelo que foi feito chefe. 7 E Davi habitou na fortaleza, pelo que se chamou a Cidade de Davi. 8 E edificou a cidade ao redor, desde Milo até completar o circuito; e Joabe renovou o resto da cidade. 9 E ia Davi cada vez mais aumentando e crescendo, porque o Senhor dos Exércitos era com ele.

10 E estes foram os chefes dos heróis que Davi tinha e que o apoiaram fortemente no seu reino, com todo o Israel, para o fazerem rei, conforme a palavra do Senhor, no tocante a Israel. 11 E estes foram do número dos heróis que Davi tinha: Jasobeão, hacmonita, o principal dos capitães, o qual, brandindo a sua lança contra trezentos, de uma vez os matou. 12 E, depois dele, Eleazar, filho de Dodô, o aoíta; ele estava entre os três varões. 13 Este esteve com Davi em Pas-Damim, quando os filisteus ali se ajuntaram à peleja, e o pedaço de campo estava cheio de cevada, e o povo fugiu de diante dos filisteus. 14 E puseram-se no meio daquele pedaço, e o defenderam, e feriram os filisteus; e promoveu o Senhor um grande livramento.

15 E três dos trinta chefes desceram à penha, a Davi, na caverna de Adulão; e o arraial dos filisteus estava acampado no vale dos Refains. 16 E Davi estava, então, no lugar forte, e o alojamento dos filisteus estava, então, em Belém. 17 E desejou Davi e disse: Quem me dará a beber da água do poço de Belém, que está junto à porta? 18 Então, aqueles três romperam pelo arraial dos filisteus e tiraram água do poço de Belém que estava à porta; e tomaram dela e a trouxeram a Davi, porém Davi não a quis beber, mas a derramou perante o Senhor. 19 E disse: Nunca meu Deus permita que faça tal! Beberia eu o sangue destes varões com as suas vidas? Pois, com perigo das suas vidas, a trouxeram. E ele não a quis beber. Isto fizeram aqueles três valentes.

20 E também Abisai, irmão de Joabe, foi chefe de três, o qual, brandindo a sua lança contra trezentos, os feriu; e teve nome entre os três. 21 Dos três foi mais ilustre do que os outros dois, pelo que foi chefe deles; porém não chegou aos primeiros três.

22 Também Benaia, filho de Joiada, filho de um valente varão, grande em obras, de Cabzeel; ele feriu dois fortes leões de Moabe; e também desceu e feriu um leão dentro de uma cova, no tempo da neve. 23 Também feriu ele a um homem egípcio, homem de grande altura, de cinco côvados; e trazia o egípcio uma lança na mão, como o eixo do tecelão; mas desceu contra ele com uma vara, e arrancou a lança da mão do egípcio, e o matou com a sua própria lança. 24 Estas coisas fez Benaia, filho de Joiada, pelo que teve nome entre aqueles três varões. 25 Eis que dos trinta foi ele o mais ilustre; contudo, não chegou aos três; e Davi o pôs sobre os da sua guarda.

26 E foram os heróis dos exércitos: Asael, irmão de Joabe, Elanã, filho de Dodô, de Belém; 27 Samote, o harodita; Heles, o pelonita; 28 Ira, filho de Iques, o tecoíta; Abiezer, o anatotita; 29 Sibecai, o husatita; Ilai, o aoíta; 30 Maarai, o netofatita; Helede, filho de Baaná, o netofatita; 31 Itai, filho de Ribai, de Gibeá, dos filhos de Benjamim; Benaia, o piratonita; 32 Hurai, do ribeiro de Gaás; Abiel, o arbatita; 33 Azmavete, o baarumita; Eliaba, o saalbonita. 34 Dos filhos de Hasém, o gizonita: Jônatas, filho de Sage, o hararita; 35 Aião, filho de Sacar, o hararita; Elifal, filho de Ur; 36 Héfer, o mequeratita; Aías, o pelonita; 37 Hezro, o carmelita; Naarai, filho de Ezbai; 38 Joel, irmão de Natã; Mibar, filho de Hagri; 39 Zeleque, o amonita; Naarai, o berotita, escudeiro de Joabe, filho de Zeruia; 40 Ira, o itrita; Garebe, o itrita; 41 Urias, o heteu; Zabade, filho de Alai; 42 Adina, filho de Siza, o rubenita, chefe dos rubenitas; todavia, sobre ele havia trinta; 43 Hanã, filho de Maaca; e Josafá, o mitenita; 44 Uzias, o astaratita; Sama e Jeiel, filhos de Hotão, o aroerita; 45 Jediael, filho de Sinri; e Joá, seu irmão, o tizita; 46 Eliel, o maavita; Jeribai e Josavias, filhos de Elnaão; e Itma, o moabita, 47 Eliel, e Obede, e Jaasiel, o mezobaíta.
