1 Now, David, was old, and satisfied with days,so he made Solomon his son king, over Israel;2 and gathered together all the rulers of Israel, with the priests, and the Levites.3 Now the Levites were numbered, from thirty years old and upwards,and their number by their polls, of mature men, was thirty-eight thousand.4 Of theseto preside over the work of the house of Yahweh, were twenty-four thousand,and officers and judges, six thousand;5 and four thousand, were doorkeepers,and, four thousand, were offerers of praise unto Yahweh, with instruments, which I made for offering praise.6 And David divided them into courses,pertaining to the sons of Levi, to Gershon, Kohath and Merari.7 Of the Gershonites, Ladan and Shimei.8 The sons of Ladan, the chief Jehiel, and Zetham and Joel, three.9 The sons of Shimei, Shelomoth and Haziel and Haran, three,these, were the ancestral chiefs of Ladan.10 And, the sons of Shimei, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah,these, were the sons of Shimei, four.11 And Jahath was chief, and Zizah the second,but, Jeush and Beriah, had not many sons, so they became an ancestral house, by one reckoning.12 The sons of Kohath, Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.13 The sons of Amram, Aaron and Moses,and Aaron was separated, to hallow the holy of holies, he and his sons, unto times age-abiding, to make a perfume before Yahweh, to be in attendance upon him, and to bless in his name, unto times age-abiding;14 and, as for Moses, the man of God, his sons, were called unto the tribe of Levi.15 The sons of Moses, were Gershom, and Eliezer.16 the sons of Gershom, were Shebuel the chief;17 and the sons of Eliezer were Rehabiah the chief,and Eliezer had no other sons, but, the sons of Rehabiah, were very many.18 The sons of Izhar, Shelomith the chief.19 The sons of Hebron, Jeriah the chief, Amariah the second, Jehaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.20 The sons of Uzziel, Micah the chief, and Isshiah the second.21 The sons of Merari, were Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli, were Eleazar and Kish.22 But Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters only,and so the sons of Kish their brethren took them.23 The sons of Mushi, were Mahli and Eder and Jeremoth, three.24 These, were the sons of Levi by their ancestral house, the ancestral chiefs of them who were counted in the number of their names, by their polls, doing the work, for the service of the house of Yahweh,from twenty years old, and upwards.25 For, said David, Yahweh the God of Israel hath given rest unto his people,and hath taken up his habitation in Jerusalem, unto times age-abiding;26 moreover also, as for the Levites, they have no need to bear the habitation, nor any of its vessels in the laborious work thereof.27 For, by the last words of David, the same, were the number of the sons of Levi,from twenty years old, and upwards.28 For, their duty, wasto be in attendance upon the sons of Aaron, in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh, over the courts, and over the chambers, and over the purifying of everything holy,and doing the laborious work, of the house of God;29 and for the bread set in array, and for the fine meal for the meal-offering, and for the unleavened cakes, even for that which is baked in a pan, for the moistened food,even of every measure, and size;30 and to stand, morning by morning, to give thanks and offer praise unto Yahweh,and, likewise, at even;31 and for all the offering of ascending-sacrifices unto Yahweh, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts,by number, according to the manner prescribed for them continually, before Yahweh;32 and they shall keep the charge of the tent of meeting, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren,in the laborious work of the house of Yahweh.

2 E ajuntou todos os príncipes de Israel, como também os sacerdotes e levitas. 3 E foram contados os levitas de trinta anos para cima; e foi o número deles, segundo as suas cabeças, trinta e oito mil homens. 4 Destes, havia vinte e quatro mil, para promoverem a obra da Casa do Senhor, e seis mil oficiais e juízes, 5 e quatro mil porteiros, e quatro mil, para louvarem ao Senhor com os instrumentos, que eu fiz para o louvar, disse Davi. 6 E Davi os repartiu por turnos, segundo os filhos de Levi: Gérson, Coate e Merari.

7 Dos gersonitas: Ladã e Simei. 8 Os filhos de Ladã; Jeiel, o chefe, e Zetã, e Joel, três. 9 Os filhos de Simei: Selomite, e Haziel, e Harã, três; estes foram os chefes dos pais de Ladã. 10 E os filhos de Simei: Jaate, e Ziza, e Jeús, e Berias; estes foram os filhos de Simei, quatro. 11 E Jaate era o chefe, e Ziza, o segundo; mas Jeús e Berias não tiveram muitos filhos; pelo que foram contados em casa de seus pais por uma só família.

12 Os filhos de Coate: Anrão, e Isar, e Hebrom, e Uziel, quatro. 13 Os filhos de Anrão: Arão e Moisés; e Arão foi separado para santificar a Santidade das Santidades, ele e seus filhos, eternamente, e para incensar diante do Senhor, e para o servirem, e para darem a bênção em seu nome, eternamente. 14 E, quanto a Moisés, homem de Deus, seus filhos foram contados entre a tribo de Levi. 15 Foram, pois, os filhos de Moisés: Gérson e Eliézer. 16 O filho de Gérson foi Sebuel, o chefe. 17 E, quanto ao filho de Eliézer, foi Reabias o chefe; e Eliézer não teve outros filhos; porém os filhos de Reabias se multiplicaram grandemente. 18 O filho de Isar foi Selomite, o chefe. 19 Quanto aos filhos de Hebrom, foi Jerias o chefe, e Amarias, o segundo, e Jaaziel, o terceiro, e Jecameão, o quarto. 20 Quanto aos filhos de Uziel, Mica, o chefe, e Issias, o segundo.

21 Os filhos de Merari: Mali e Musi; os filhos de Mali: Eleazar e Quis. 22 E morreu Eleazar e não teve filhos, porém filhas; e os filhos de Quis, seus irmãos, as tomaram por mulheres. 23 Os filhos de Musi: Mali, e Éder, e Jerimote, três.

24 Estes são os filhos de Levi, segundo a casa de seus pais, chefes dos pais, segundo foram contados pelo número dos nomes, segundo os seus chefes, que faziam a obra do ministério da Casa do Senhor, da idade de vinte anos para cima. 25 Porque disse Davi: O Senhor, Deus de Israel, deu repouso ao seu povo e habitará em Jerusalém para sempre. 26 E também, quanto aos levitas, que nunca mais levassem o tabernáculo, nem algum de seus objetos pertencentes ao seu ministério. 27 Porque, segundo as últimas palavras de Davi, foram contados os filhos de Levi da idade de vinte anos para cima. 28 Porque o seu cargo era de estar ao mandado dos filhos de Arão no ministério da Casa do Senhor, nos átrios, e nas câmaras, e na purificação de todas as coisas sagradas, e na obra do ministério da Casa de Deus, 29 a saber: para os pães da proposição, e para a flor de farinha, e para a oferta de manjares, e para os coscorões asmos, e para as assadeiras, e para o tostado, e para toda medida e mensura; 30 e para estarem cada manhã em pé para louvarem e celebrarem ao Senhor; e semelhantemente, à tarde; 31 e para cada oferecimento dos holocaustos do Senhor, nos sábados, e nas luas novas, e nas solenidades, por conta, segundo o seu costume, continuamente perante o Senhor; 32 e para que tivessem cuidado da guarda da tenda da congregação, e da guarda do santuário, e da guarda dos filhos de Arão, seus irmãos, no ministério da Casa do Senhor.
