1 Then said Yahweh unto MosesSee! I have appointed thee to be God unto Pharaoh,and, Aaron thy brother, shall be thy prophet!2 Thou, shalt speak all that which I may command thee, and, Aaron thy brother, shall speak unto Pharaoh, and he shall let the sons of Israel go out of his land.3 But, I, will suffer Pharaoh to harden his heart,so will I multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt.4 And Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, so will I lay my hand on Egypt,and bring forth my hostsmy people the sons of Israel out of the land of Egypt, with great judgments.5 And the Egyptians shall know that I, am Yahweh, when I have stretched forth my hand over Egypt,and brought forth the sons of Israel out of their midst.6 And Moses and Aaron did ,as Yahweh commanded them, so, did they.7 Now Moses, was eighty years old, and, Aaron, eighty-three years old,when they spake unto Pharaoh.8 And Yahweh spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying:9 When Pharaoh shall speak unto you saying, Shew for yourselves a wonder, then shalt thou say unto Aaron, Take thy staff, and cast it down before Pharaoh let it become a sea-serpent.10 So Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and did so as Yahweh had commanded,and Aaron cast down his staff before Pharaoh and before his servants and it became a sea-serpent,11 Then called Pharaoh also for the wise men and for the magicians,and they too, the sacred scribes of Egypt with their secret arts, did in like manner;12 yea they cast down each man his staff, and they became sea-serpents,but Aarons staff swallowed up their staves.13 Then waxed bold the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not unto them,as spake Yahweh.14 Then said Yahweh unto Moses, Dull, is the heart of Pharaoh,he hath refused to let the people go.15 Get thee unto Pharaoh in the morninglo! he is coming out to the waters, therefore shalt thou station thyself to meet him on the bank of the river,and the staff which was turned into a serpent, shalt thou take in thy hand.16 Then shalt thou say unto himYahweh God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee saying,Let my people go, that they may serve me in the desert,And lo! thou hast not hearkened hitherto.17 Thus, saith Yahweh, Hereby, shalt thou know that, I, am Yahweh,Lo! I, am smiting with the staff that is in my hand upon the waters that are in the river and they shall be turned to blood;18 and, the fish that is in the river shall die and the river shall be loathsome,and the Egyptians, shall disdain, to drink water out of the river.19 And Yahweh said unto Moses,Say unto AaronTake thy staff, and stretch forth thy hand over the waters of Egypt, over their streams over their rivers, and over their pools and over all their collections of waterthat they may become blood,so shall there be blood in all the land of Egypt, both in vessels of wood and in vessels of stone.20 And Moses and Aaron, did so, as Yahweh commanded, and he lifted high the staff, and smote the waters which were in the river, before the eyes of Pharaoh, and before the eyes of his servants,and all the waters which were in the river were turned to blood;21 and the fish that was in the river, died and the river became loathsome, so that the Egyptians could not drink water out of the river,thus came it to pass that blood was in all the land of Egypt.22 And the sacred scribes of Egypt did in like manner with their secret arts,so the heart of Pharaoh waxed bold and he hearkened not unto them, as spake Yahweh.23 Then Pharaoh, turned away, and entered into his houseneither applied he his heart, even to this.24 And all the Egyptians digged round about the river for water to drink,for they could not drink of the water of the river.25 And seven days were fulfilled,after Yahweh had smitten the river.

1 Então, disse o Senhor a Moisés: Eis que te tenho posto por Deus sobre Faraó; e Arão, teu irmão, será o teu profeta. 2 Tu falarás tudo o que eu te mandar; e Arão, teu irmão, falará a Faraó que deixe ir os filhos de Israel da sua terra. 3 Eu, porém, endurecerei o coração de Faraó, e multiplicarei na terra do Egito os meus sinais e as minhas maravilhas. 4 Faraó, porém, não vos ouvirá; e eu porei a mão sobre o Egito e tirarei os meus exércitos, o meu povo, os filhos de Israel, da terra do Egito com grandes juízos. 5 Então, os egípcios saberão que eu sou o Senhor, quando estender a mão sobre o Egito e tirar os filhos de Israel do meio deles. 6 Então, fez assim Moisés e Arão; como o Senhor lhes ordenara, assim fizeram. 7 E Moisés era da idade de oitenta anos, e Arão, da idade de oitenta e três anos, quando falaram a Faraó.

8 E o Senhor falou a Moisés e a Arão, dizendo: 9 Quando Faraó vos falar, dizendo: Fazei por vós algum milagre; dirás a Arão: Toma a tua vara e lança-a diante de Faraó; e se tornará em serpente. 10 Então, Moisés e Arão entraram a Faraó e fizeram assim como o Senhor ordenara; e lançou Arão a sua vara diante de Faraó, e diante dos seus servos, e tornou-se em serpente. 11 E Faraó também chamou os sábios e encantadores; e os magos do Egito fizeram também o mesmo com os seus encantamentos. 12 Porque cada um lançou sua vara, e tornaram-se em serpentes; mas a vara de Arão tragou as varas deles. 13 Porém o coração de Faraó se endureceu, e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha dito.

14 Então, disse o Senhor a Moisés: O coração de Faraó está obstinado; recusa deixar ir o povo. 15 Vai pela manhã a Faraó; eis que ele sairá às águas; põe-te em frente dele na praia do rio e tomarás em tua mão a vara que se tornou em cobra. 16 E lhe dirás: O Senhor, o Deus dos hebreus, me tem enviado a ti, dizendo: Deixa ir o meu povo, para que me sirva no deserto; porém eis que até agora não tens ouvido. 17 Assim diz o Senhor: Nisto saberás que eu sou o Senhor: Eis que eu com esta vara, que tenho em minha mão, ferirei as águas que estão no rio, e tornar-se-ão em sangue. 18 E os peixes que estão no rio morrerão, e o rio cheirará mal; e os egípcios nausear-se-ão, bebendo a água do rio.

19 Disse mais o Senhor a Moisés: Dize a Arão: Toma tua vara e estende a mão sobre as águas do Egito, sobre as suas correntes, sobre os seus rios, sobre os seus tanques e sobre todo o ajuntamento das suas águas, para que se tornem em sangue; e haja sangue em toda a terra do Egito, assim nos vasos de madeira como nos de pedra.

20 E Moisés e Arão fizeram assim como o Senhor tinha mandado; e levantou a vara e feriu as águas que estavam no rio, diante dos olhos de Faraó e diante dos olhos de seus servos; e todas as águas do rio se tornaram em sangue. 21 E os peixes que estavam no rio morreram, e o rio fedeu, e os egípcios não podiam beber a água do rio; e houve sangue por toda a terra do Egito. 22 Porém os magos do Egito também fizeram o mesmo com os seus encantamentos; de maneira que o coração de Faraó se endureceu, e não os ouviu, como o Senhor tinha dito. 23 E virou-se Faraó e foi para sua casa; nem ainda nisto pôs seu coração. 24 E todos os egípcios cavaram poços junto ao rio, para beberem água; porquanto não podiam beber das águas do rio. 25 Assim, se cumpriram sete dias, depois que o Senhor ferira o rio.
