1 The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son, maketh a glad father, but, a foolish son, is the grief of his mother.2 The treasures of lawlessness, do not profit, but, righteousness, delivereth from death.3 Yahweh, suffereth not to famish, the soul of the righteous, but, the desire of the lawless, he thrusteth away.4 He becometh poor, who dealeth with a slack hand, but, the hand of the diligent, maketh rich.5 He that gathereth in summer, is a prudent son, he that sleepeth long in harvest, is a son causing shame.6 Blessings, are for the head of the righteous man, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth up wrong.7 The memory of the righteous, yieldeth blessing, but, the name of the lawless, dieth out.8 The wise in heart, will accept commandments, but, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust away.9 He that walketh uprightly, may walk securely, but, he that maketh crooked his ways, shall be found out.10 He that winketh with the eye, causeth sorrow, and, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust aside.11 A well-spring of life, is the mouth of the righteous, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth wrong.12 Hatred, stirreth up strifes, but, over all transgressions, love throweth a covering.13 In the lips of the intelligent, is found wisdom, but, a rod, is for the back of him that lacketh sense.14 Wise men, treasure up knowledge, but, the mouth of the foolish, is a terror near at hand.15 The substance of the rich, is his strong city, the terror of the poor, is their poverty.16 The labour of the righteous,17 On the way to life, is he that heedeth correction, but, he that hateth reproof, is going astray.18 He that concealeth hatred, hath false lips, and he that sendeth forth slander, the same, is a dullard.19 In the multitude of words, there wanteth not transgression, but, he that restraineth his lips, sheweth prudence.20 Choice silver, is the tongue of the righteous, but, the sense of the lawless, is very small.21 The lips of the righteous, feed multitudes, but, the foolish, for lack of sense, shall die.22 The blessing of Yahweh, itself maketh rich, and he addeth no grievance therewith.23 It is, mere sport to a stupid man, to commit lewdness, but, wisdom, pertaineth to a man of understanding.24 The dread of the lawless one, the same, shall overtake him, but, the desire of the righteous, shall he granted.25 Like the passing away of a tempest, so the lawless one is not, but, the righteous,26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so, is the sluggard, to them who send him.27 The reverence of Yahweh, addeth days, but, the years of the lawless, shall be shortened.28 The hope of the righteous, shall be gladness, but, the expectation of the lawless, shall vanish.29 A refuge for the blameless, is the path of Yahweh, but, destruction, the workers of iniquity.30 The righteous, to times age-abiding, shall remain unshaken, but, the lawless, shall not inhabit the earth.31 The mouth of the righteous, beareth the fruit of wisdom, but, a perverse tongue, shall be cut off.32 The lips of the righteous, know what is pleasing, but, the mouth of the lawless,

O filho sábio alegra a seu pai, mas o filho louco é a tristeza de sua mãe. 2 Os tesouros da impiedade de nada aproveitam; mas a justiça livra da morte. 3 O Senhor não deixa ter fome a alma do justo, mas o desejo dos ímpios rechaça. 4 O que trabalha com mão enganosa empobrece, mas a mão dos diligentes enriquece. 5 O que ajunta no verão é filho sábio, mas o que dorme na sega é filho que envergonha. 6 Bênçãos há sobre a cabeça do justo, mas a violência cobre a boca dos ímpios. 7 A memória do justo é abençoada, mas o nome dos ímpios apodrecerá. 8 O sábio de coração aceita os mandamentos, mas o louco palrador será transtornado. 9 Quem anda em sinceridade anda seguro, mas o que perverte os seus caminhos será conhecido. 10 O que acena com os olhos dá dores, e o tolo de lábios será transtornado. 11 A boca do justo é manancial de vida, mas a violência cobre a boca dos ímpios. 12 O ódio excita contendas, mas o amor cobre todas as transgressões. 13 Nos lábios do sábio se acha a sabedoria, mas a vara é para as costas do falto de entendimento. 14 Os sábios escondem a sabedoria, mas a boca do tolo é uma destruição. 15 A fazenda do rico é a cidade da sua fortaleza; a destruição dos pobres é a sua pobreza. 16 A obra do justo conduz à vida, as produções do ímpio, ao pecado. 17 O caminho para a vida é daquele que guarda a correção, mas o que abandona a repreensão erra. 18 O que encobre o ódio tem lábios falsos, e o que difama é um insensato. 19 Na multidão de palavras não falta transgressão, mas o que modera os seus lábios é prudente. 20 Prata escolhida é a língua do justo; o coração dos ímpios é de nenhum preço. 21 Os lábios do justo apascentam muitos, mas os tolos, por falta de entendimento, morrem. 22 A bênção do Senhor é que enriquece, e ele não acrescenta dores. 23 Um divertimento é para o tolo praticar a iniquidade; para o homem inteligente, o mesmo é o ser sábio. 24 O temor do ímpio virá sobre ele, mas o desejo dos justos Deus o cumprirá. 25 Como a tempestade, assim passa o ímpio, mas o justo tem perpétuo fundamento. 26 Como vinagre para os dentes, como fumaça para os olhos, assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o mandam. 27 O temor do Senhor aumenta os dias, mas os anos dos ímpios serão abreviados. 28 A esperança dos justos é alegria, mas a expectação dos ímpios perecerá. 29 O caminho do Senhor é fortaleza para os retos, mas ruína virá aos que praticam a iniquidade. 30 O justo nunca será abalado, mas os ímpios não habitarão a terra. 31 A boca do justo produz sabedoria em abundância, mas a língua da perversidade será desarraigada. 32 Os lábios do justo sabem o que agrada, mas a boca dos ímpios anda cheia de perversidades.
