1 Wisdom, hath builded her house, hath hewn out her seven pillars;2 hath slaughtered her beasts, hath mingled her wine, hath even set in order her table;3 hath sent forth her maidens, She crieth aloud, upon the tops of the heights of the city:4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither, as for him that lacketh sense, she saith to him5 Come, feed on my food, and drink of the wine I have mingled;6 Forsake the simple ones, and live, and advance in the way of understanding.7 He that rebuketh a scoffer, getteth to himself contempt, and, he that reproveth a lawless man, his shame.8 Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate thee, Reprove a wise man, and he will love thee.9 Give to a wise man, and he will be wiser still, Inform a righteous man, and he will increase learning.10 The beginning of wisdom, is the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of the Holy, is understanding;11 For, by me, shall be multipliedthy days, and there be added to theethe years of life.12 If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself, but, if thou scoff, alone, shalt thou bear it.13 The woman Stupidity, is boisterous, so simple that she knoweth not what she would do;14 So she sitteth at the entrance of her house, upon a seat, in the heights of the city;15 To invite them who pass by the way, who are going straight on in their paths:16 Whoso is simple, let him turn aside hither, and, as for him that lacketh sense, she saith to him:17 Stolen waters, will be sweet,and a secret meal, will be pleasant;18 But he knoweth not, that the shades are there; In the depths of hades, are her guests.

1 A sabedoria já edificou a sua casa, já lavrou as suas sete colunas. 2 Já sacrificou as suas vítimas, misturou o seu vinho e já preparou a sua mesa. 3 Já deu ordens às suas criadas, já anda convidando desde as alturas da cidade, dizendo: 4 Quem é simples volte-se para aqui. Aos faltos de entendimento diz: 5 Vinde, comei do meu pão e bebei do vinho que tenho misturado. 6 Deixai os insensatos, e vivei, e andai pelo caminho do entendimento.

7 O que repreende o escarnecedor afronta toma para si; e o que censura o ímpio recebe a sua mancha. 8 Não repreendas o escarnecedor, para que te não aborreça; repreende o sábio, e amar-te-á. 9 Dá instrução ao sábio, e ele se fará mais sábio; ensina ao justo, e ele crescerá em entendimento. 10 O temor do Senhor é o princípio da sabedoria, e a ciência do Santo, a prudência. 11 Porque, por mim, se multiplicam os teus dias, e anos de vida se te acrescentarão. 12 Se fores sábio, para ti sábio serás; e, se fores escarnecedor, tu só o suportarás.

13 A mulher louca é alvoroçadora; é néscia e não sabe coisa alguma. 14 E assenta-se à porta da sua casa ou numa cadeira, nas alturas da cidade, 15 para chamar os que passam e seguem direito o seu caminho. 16 Quem é simples, volte-se para aqui. E aos faltos de entendimento diz: 17 As águas roubadas são doces, e o pão comido às ocultas é suave. 18 Mas não sabem que ali estão os mortos, que os seus convidados estão nas profundezas do inferno.
