1 Tornai-vos meus imitadores, como eu o sou de Cristo.2 Ora eu vos louvo, porque em tudo vos lembrais de mim, e guardais os ensinos conforme vo-los entreguei.3 Mas quero que vos saibais que Cristo é a cabeça de todo o homem, e o homem é a cabeça da mulher, e Deus é a cabeça de Cristo.4 Todo o homem quando ora, ou profetiza, tendo a cabeça coberta, desonra a sua cabeça.5 Toda a mulher, porém, quando ora, ou profetiza, não tendo a cabeça coberta, desonra a sua cabeça; pois é uma e a mesma coisa como se estivesse rapada.6 Portanto se a mulher não se cobre com véu, seja também tosquiada; mas se é vergonhoso à mulher o ser tosquiada ou rapada, cubra-se ela com véu.7 Pois o homem, na verdade, não deve ter a cabeça coberta, sendo ele a imagem e glória de Deus; a mulher, porém, é a glória do homem.8 Pois o homem não é formado da mulher, mas a mulher do homem;9 nem foi o homem criado por causa da mulher, mas a mulher por causa do homem.10 Por esta razão deve a mulher ter o sinal de autoridade sobre a cabeça por causa dos anjos.11 Não obstante nem a mulher é independente do homem, nem o homem é independente da mulher, no Senhor;12 pois assim como a mulher foi formada do homem, assim também é o homem nascido da mulher; mas todas as coisas vêm de Deus.13 Julgai lá vós mesmos; é conveniente que uma mulher ore a Deus, não trazendo véu?14 Não vos ensina a própria natureza que se o homem tiver cabelo comprido, é para ele uma desonra;15 mas se a mulher tiver o cabelo comprido, é para ela uma glória? Pois o cabelo lhe é dado em lugar de véu.16 Contudo se alguém quer ser discutidor, nós não temos tal costume, nem tampouco as igrejas de Deus.17 Mas ordenando-vos isto, não vos louvo, porque vos congregais não para melhor, e sim para pior.18 Pois antes de tudo, quando vos congregais na igreja, ouço dizer que existem divisões entre vós; e em parte o creio.19 Pois é necessário que haja facções entre vós, para que os aprovados entre vós se tornem manifestos.20 Quando vos reunis no mesmo lugar, não é possível comer a ceia do Senhor,21 porque cada um, no comer, toma de antemão sua própria ceia; um tem fome, e outro está embriagado.22 Porventura não tendes casas onde podeis comer e beber? ou menosprezais a igreja de Deus, e envergonhais aos que não têm? Que vos direi? louvar-vos-ei? Nisto não vos louvo.23 Pois eu recebi do Senhor, o que também vos entreguei, que o Senhor Jesus na noite em que foi traído, tomou pão24 e, havendo dado graças, o partiu e disse: Este é o meu corpo que é por vós; fazei isto em memória de mim.25 Do mesmo modo tomou o cálice, depois de haver ceado, dizendo: Este cálice é a nova aliança no meu sangue; fazei isto todas as vezes que o beberdes em memória de mim.26 Pois todas as vezes que comerdes deste pão e beberdes do cálice, anunciais a morte do Senhor, até que ele venha.27 De maneira que aquele que comer o pão ou beber o cálice do Senhor indignamente, será réu do corpo e do sangue do Senhor.28 Mas cada um prove-se a si mesmo, e assim coma do pão e beba do cálice;29 pois aquele que come e bebe, come e bebe para si juízo, se não discernir o corpo do Senhor.30 Por esta razão há entre vós muitos fracos e adoentados, e não poucos dormem.31 Se, porém, bem julgássemos a nós mesmos, não seríamos julgados;32 mas sendo julgados pelo Senhor, somos corrigidos, para não sermos condenados com o mundo.33 Por isso, meus irmãos, reunindo-vos para comer a ceia, esperai uns pelos outros.34 Se alguem tem fome, coma em casa, a fim de que a vossa reunião não seja para juízo. As demais coisas eu as ordenarei quando for.

1 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.2 I praise you for remembering me in everything and for carefully following the traditions, just as I passed them on to you.3 Now I want you to realize that Christ is the head of every man, and man is the head of the woman, and God is the head of Christ.4 Every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head dishonors his head,5 and every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, which is the same as having her head shaved.6 So if a woman does not cover her head, she should cut off her hair. If it is a disgrace for a woman to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her own head.7 A man should not cover his own head, because he exists as God's image and glory. But the woman is man's glory.8 For man did not come from woman, but woman from man;9 and man was not created for woman, but woman for man.10 This is why a woman should have authority over her own head: because of the angels.11 In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man of woman.12 For as woman came from man, so man comes through woman. But everything comes from God.13 Decide for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?14 Nature itself teaches you neither that it is disgraceful for a man to have long hair15 nor that hair is a woman's glory, for hair is given as a substitute for coverings.16 But if anyone wants to argue about this, we do not have any custom like this, nor do any of God's churches.17 Now I am not praising you in giving you the following instructions. When you gather, it is not for the better but for the worse.18 For in the first place, I hear that when you gather as a church there are divisions among you, and I partly believe it.19 Of course, there must be factions among you to show which of you are genuine!20 When you gather in the same place, it is not to eat the Lord's Supper.21 For as you eat, each of you rushes to eat his own supper, and one person goes hungry while another gets drunk.22 You have homes in which to eat and drink, don't you? Or do you despise God's church and humiliate those who have nothing? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I will not praise you for this!23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you—how the Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took a loaf of bread,24 gave thanks for it, and broke it in pieces, saying,"This is my body that isfor you. Keep doing this in memory of me."25 He did the same with the cup after the supper, saying,"This cup is the new covenant in my blood. As often as you drink from it, keep doing this in memory of me."26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.27 Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks from the cup in an unworthy manner will be held responsible for the Lord's body and blood.28 A person must examine himself and then eat the bread and drink from the cup.29 For the one who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.30 That's why so many of you are weak and sick and a considerable number are dying.31 But if we judged ourselves correctly, we would not be judged.32 Now, while we are being judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined lest we be condemned along with the world.33 Therefore, my brothers, when you gather to eat, wait for each other.34 If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you gather it may not bring judgment on you. And when I come I will give instructions concerning the other matters.
