1 A respeito dos dons espirituais, irmãos, não quero que sejais ignorantes.2 Sabeis que quando éreis gentios, concorríeis aos ídolos mudos, conforme éreis levados.3 Por isso vos faço conhecer que ninguém, falando pelo Espírito de Deus, diz: Jesus é anátema; ninguém pode dizer: Jesus é Senhor, senão pelo Espírito Santo.4 Ora há diversidades de dons, mas um mesmo é o Espírito;5 há diversidades de ministérios, e um mesmo é o Senhor;6 há diversidades de operações, mas é o mesmo Deus que opera tudo em todos.7 A cada um, porém, é dada a manifestação do Espírito para proveito.8 Pois a um pelo Espírito é dada a palavra da sabedoria; a outro a palavra de ciência, segundo o mesmo Espírito;9 a outro fé, no mesmo Espírito; a outro dons de curar, em um só Espírito;10 a outro operações de milagres; a outro profecia; a outro discernimento de espíritos; a outro diversidades de línguas, e a outro interpretação de línguas;11 mas todas estas coisas opera um só e o mesmo Espírito, distribuindo a cada um particularmente como lhe apraz.12 Pois assim como o corpo é um e tem muitos membros, e todos os membros do corpo, embora muitos, constituem um só corpo; assim também é Cristo.13 Em um só Espírito fomos batizados todos nós em um só corpo, quer judeus, quer gregos, quer escravos, quer livres; e a todos nós foi dado beber dum só Espírito.14 Também o corpo não é um só membro, mas muitos.15 Se disser o pé: Porque não sou mão, não sou do corpo; nem por isso deixa de ser do corpo.16 Se a orelha disser: Uma vez que eu não sou olho, não sou do corpo; nem por isso deixa de ser do corpo.17 Se o corpo inteiro fosse olho, onde estaria o ouvido? Se o corpo inteiro fosse ouvido, onde estaria o olfato?18 Mas agora Deus dispôs os membros no corpo, cada um deles como lhe aprouve.19 Se todos, porém, fossem um só membro, onde estaria o corpo?20 Agora, na verdade, são muitos membros, mas um só corpo.21 O olho não pode dizer à mão: Eu não preciso de ti; nem ainda a cabeça aos pés:22 Eu não preciso de vós. Antes pelo contrário os membros do corpo, que parecem ser mais fracos, são necessários;23 os membros do corpo, que reputamos menos honrosos, a estes revestimos com muito mais honra, e os que em nós não são decorosos, têm mais abundante decoro,24 ao passo que os decorosos em nós não têm necessidade de decoro. Mas Deus arranjou os membros do corpo, dando muito mais honra àquele membro que não a tem em si,25 para que não houvesse cisma no corpo, mas os membros tivessem o mesmo cuidado uns pelos outros.26 Se um só membro sofre, todos os membros sofrem com ele; se um é honrado, todos os membros se regozijam com ele.27 Ora vós sois corpo de Cristo, e individualmente um de seus membros.28 A uns pôs Deus na igreja, primeiramente apóstolos, em segundo lugar profetas, em terceiro lugar doutores, depois milagres, depois dons de curar, socorros, governos, variedades de línguas.29 São, porventura, todos apóstolos? são todos profetas? são todos doutores? são todos operadores de milagres?30 têm todos dons de curar? falam todos em línguas? interpretam todos?31 Mas desejai ardentemente os dons que são maiores. E ainda um caminho sobremodo excelente vou mostrar-vos.

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers, I don't want you to be ignorant.2 You know that when you were Gentiles, you were enticed and led away to idols that couldn't even speak.3 Therefore, I want you to know that no one who is speaking by God's Spirit can say, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the Spirit is the same;5 and there are varieties of ministries, but the Lord is the same;6 and there are varieties of results, but God is the same, and it is he who produces all the results in everyone.7 To each person has been given the ability to display the Spirit for the common good.8 To one has been given a message of wisdom by the Spirit; to another the ability to speak with knowledge according to the same Spirit;9 to another faith by the same Spirit; to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit;10 to another miraculous results; to another prophecy; to another the ability to distinguish between spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; and to another the interpretation of tongues.11 But one and the same Spirit produces all these results and gives what he wants to each person.12 For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, form one body, so it is with Christ.13 For by one Spirit all of us—Jews and Greeks, slaves and free—were baptized into one body and were all privileged to drink from one Spirit.14 For the body does not consist of only one part, but of many.15 If the foot says, "Since I'm not a hand, I'm not part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?16 And if the ear says, "Since I'm not an eye, I'm not part of the body," that does not make it any less a part of the body, does it?17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?18 But at this very time God has arranged the parts, every one of them, in the body just as he wanted to.19 Now if they were all one part, where would the body be?20 So there are many parts, but one body.21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you," or the head to the feet, "I don't need you."22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are in fact indispensable,23 and the parts of the body that we think are less honorable are treated with special honor, and we make our less attractive parts more attractive.24 However, our attractive parts don't need this. But God has put the body together and has given special honor to the parts that lack it,25 so that there might be no disharmony in the body, but that its parts should have the same concern for each other.26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it. If one part is praised, every part rejoices with it.27 Now you are Christ's body and individual parts of it.28 God has appointed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then those who perform miracles, those who have gifts of healing, those who help others, administrators, and various kinds of tongues.29 Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they? Not all are teachers, are they? Not all perform miracles, do they?30 Not all have the gift of healing, do they? Not all speak in tongues, do they? Not all interpret, do they?31 Keep on desiring the better gifts. And now I will show you the best way of all.
