γύρισε να σε καμαρώσουμε!

Τι έχετε στη Σουλαμίτισσα να δείτε

καθώς χορεύει τον κυκλοτερή

χορό των στρατοπέδων;

ΕΚΕΙΝΟΣ:

2 Τι όμορφα που ’ναι τα βήματά σου

με τα σανδάλια σου,

αρχοντογεννημένη!

Είν’ η καμπύλη των μηρών σου περιδέραιο

από τεχνίτη χέρια σμιλεμένο.

3 Ο κόλπος σου κρατήρας τορνευτός,

και το κρασί το ευωδιαστό δεν του απολείπει.

Είν’ η κοιλιά σου θημωνιά σταριού

φραγμένη ολόγυρα με κρίνα.

4 Τα στήθη σου τα δυο σαν δυο ελαφόπουλα,

δίδυμα ζαρκαδάκια.

5 Ο τράχηλός σου πύργος από φίλντισι,

τα μάτια σου σαν της Εσεβών τις στέρνες

κοντά στην πύλη Βαθ-Ραβίμ,

η μύτη σου σαν πύργος του Λιβάνου

αντίκρυ από τη Δαμασκό.

6 Η κεφαλή σου σαν τον Κάρμηλο υψώνεται

και τα χυτά σου τα μαλλιά σαν την πορφύρα,

κι ο βασιλιάς στα κύματά τους δέσμιος.

ΕΚΕΙΝΟΣ:

7 Τι όμορφη που είσαι και τι θελκτική

μέσα στα χάδια, αγάπη μου!

8 Μοιάζει η κορμοστασιά σου με το φοίνικα,

τα στήθη σου τσαμπιά χουρμάδες.

9 Είπα: «Θ’ ανέβω απά’ στο φοίνικα

τα βάγια του θα πιάσω,

θα γίνουνε τα στήθη σου σαν τα σταφύλια του αμπελιού,

και της ανάσας σου η οσμή μοσκοβολιά από μήλα.

10 Το στόμα σου θα γίνει

σαν το εξαίσιο το κρασί...»

ΕΚΕΙΝΗ:

12 Έλα κι ας βγούμε στα χωράφια, αγαπημένε μου,

ας την περάσουμε τη νύχτα στα χωριά,

13 κι ας πάμε ξημερώματα στ’ αμπέλια

να δούμε αν βλάστησαν τα κλήματα,

του σταφυλιού ο ανθός αν άνοιξε,

αν λουλουδίσαν οι ροδιές.
