1 mapa Now after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. Ezek után pedig megveré Dávid a Filiszteusokat, és megalázá õket, és Gáth városát faluival együtt elvevé a Filiszteusok kezébõl.
2 mapa And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts. A Moábitákat is megveré; és a Moábiták Dávidnak adófizetõ szolgái lettek.
3 mapa And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah to Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. Továbbá megveré Dávid Hámátban Hadadézert is, Sóbának királyát, mikor elindult vala, hogy az Eufrátes folyóvízig vesse birodalmának határát.
4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot-horses, but reserved of them a hundred chariots. Dávid pedig nyere õ tõle ezer szekeret és hétezer lovast és húszezer gyalogost; és minden szekeres lovaknak inait elvagdaltatá Dávid, és csak száz szekérbe valót tarta meg azokból.
5 mapa And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. És mikor eljövének Damaskusból a Siriabeliek, hogy megsegéllenék Hadadézert, a Sóba királyát: levága Dávid a Siriabeliek közül huszonkétezer férfit.
6 mapa Then David put garrisons in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. És rendele Dávid [tiszttartókat] Siriában, a hol Damaskus van; és lettek a Siriabeliek Dávidnak adófizetõ szolgái. És megsegíté az Úr Dávidot mindenütt, a merre csak ment.
7 mapa And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. És vevé Dávid az arany paizsokat, a melyeket a Hadadézer szolgái viselének, és vivé Jeruzsálembe.
8 mapa Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, David brought very much brass, with which Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass. És hoza Dávid Tibhátból és Kúnból, a Hadadézer városaiból igen sok rezet. Abból csinálá Salamon a réztengert, az oszlopokat és a rézedényeket.
9 mapa Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah; Mikor meghallotta volna pedig Tóhu, a Hamáthbeli király, hogy Dávid megverte Hadadézernek, a Sóba királyának egész hadát:
10 He sent Hadoram his son to king David to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had warred with Tou;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold, and silver, and brass. Küldé Dávid királyhoz az õ fiát, Hadorámot, hogy köszöntené õt és megáldaná, mivelhogy megharczolt vala Hadadézerrel és megverte vala õt; mert Tóhu is hadakozik Hadadézer ellen. És [külde Dávidnak ]sok arany, ezüst és rézedényt,
11 mapa Them also king David dedicated to the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek. És Dávid király ezeket is az Úrnak szentelé, az ezüsttel és az aranynyal együtt, a melyet nyert vala minden pogányoktól, az Edomitáktól, a Moábitáktól, az Ammon fiaitól, a Filiszteusoktól és Amálekitáktól.
12 mapa Moreover, Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand. Abisai pedig, a Séruja fia, az Edomiták közül a Sónak völgyében megvere tizennyolczezeret.
13 mapa And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. És rendele Edomban [Dávid] tiszttartókat, és lettek az Edombeliek mind Dávidnak szolgái. És megsegíté az Úr Dávidot mindenütt, a merre csak ment.
14 So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people. Így uralkodék Dávid az egész Izráel felett, és ítéletet és igazságot szolgáltat vala egész népének.
15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder; Joáb pedig, Séruja fia, a sereg elõljárója volt, Jósafát, az Ahilud fia pedig emlékíró.
16 And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe; Sádók, az Akhitub fia és Abimélek, az Abjátár fia, voltak a papok; Sausa az íródeák.
17 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king. És Benája, a Jójada fia, a Kereteusok és Peleteusok elõljárója volt; a Dávid fiai pedig elsõk a király mellett.
