A glória e o poder de Deus

Ao mestre de canto, com instrumentos de cordas. Salmo de Asafe. Cântico

1 Conhecido é Deus em Judá;

grande é o seu nome em Israel.

2 E em Salém está o seu tabernáculo,

e a sua morada em Sião.

3 Ali quebrou as flechas do arco;

o escudo, e a espada, e a guerra. (Selá.)

4 Tu és mais ilustre e glorioso

do que os montes de caça.

5 Os que são ousados de coração são despojados;

dormiram o seu sono;

e nenhum dos homens

de força achou as próprias mãos.

6 À tua repreensão,

ó Deus de Jacó,

carros

e cavalos são lançados

num sono profundo.

7 Tu, tu és temível;

e quem subsistirá

à tua vista,

uma vez que te irares?

8 Desde os céus fizeste ouvir

o teu juízo;

a terra tremeu e se aquietou,

9 Quando Deus se levantou para fazer juízo,

para livrar

a todos os mansos da terra. (Selá.)

10 Certamente a cólera do homem redundará

em teu louvor;

o restante da cólera tu o restringirás.

11 Fazei votos,

e pagai ao Senhor vosso Deus;

tragam presentes,

os que estão em redor dele,

àquele que é temível.

12 Ele ceifará o espírito dos príncipes;

é tremendo para

com os reis da terra.

1 In Judah is God*GodHebrew: Elohim known, his name is great in Israel; 2 And in Salem is his tent, and his dwelling-place in Zion. 3 There broke he the flashings of the bow, shield and sword and battle. Selah. 4 More glorious art thou, more excellent, than the mountains of prey. 5 The stout-hearted are made a spoil, they have slept their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands. 6 At thy rebuke, O God*GodHebrew: Elohim of Jacob, both chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.

7 Thou, thou art to be feared, and who can stand before thee when once thou art angry? 8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from the heavens; the earth feared, and was still, 9 When God*GodHebrew: Elohim rose up to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah. 10 For the fury of man shall praise thee; the remainder of fury wilt thou gird on thyself. 11 Vow and pay unto Jehovah your God*GodHebrew: Elohim let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that is to be feared. 12 He cutteth off the spirit of princes; he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
