1 E tu, ó filho do homem, profetiza aos montes de Israel, e dize: Montes de Israel, ouvi a palavra do Senhor.2 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Pois que disse o inimigo contra vós: Ah! Ah! Até as alturas eternas serão nossa herança;3 Portanto, profetiza, e dize: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Porquanto vos assolaram e devoraram de todos os lados, para que ficásseis feitos herança do restante dos gentios, e tendes andado em lábios tagarelas, e em infâmia do povo,4 Portanto, ouvi, ó montes de Israel, a palavra do Senhor Deus: Assim diz o Senhor Deus aos montes e aos outeiros, aos rios e aos vales, aos lugares assolados e solitários, e às cidades desamparadas que se tornaram em rapina e em escárnio para o restante dos gentios que lhes estão em redor;5 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Certamente no fogo do meu zelo falei contra o restante dos gentios, e contra todo o Edom, que se apropriaram da minha terra, com toda a alegria de seu coração, e com menosprezo da alma, para a lançarem fora à rapina.6 Portanto, profetiza sobre a terra de Israel, e dize aos montes, e aos outeiros, aos rios e aos vales: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Eis que falei no meu zelo e no meu furor, porque levastes sobre vós o opróbrio dos gentios.7 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor Deus: Eu levantei a minha mão, para que os gentios, que estão ao redor de vós, levem o seu opróbrio.8 Mas vós, ó montes de Israel, produzireis os vossos ramos, e dareis o vosso fruto para o meu povo de Israel; porque estão prestes a vir.9 Porque eis que eu estou convosco, e eu me voltarei para vós, e sereis lavrados e semeados.10 E multiplicarei homens sobre vós, a toda a casa de Israel, a toda ela; e as cidades serão habitadas, e os lugares devastados serão edificados.11 E multiplicarei homens e animais sobre vós, e eles se multiplicarão, e frutificarão. E farei com que sejais habitados como dantes e vos tratarei melhor que nos vossos princípios; e sabereis que eu sou o Senhor.12 E farei andar sobre vós homens, o meu povo de Israel; eles te possuirão, e serás a sua herança, e nunca mais os desfilharás.13 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Porquanto vos dizem: Tu és uma terra que devora os homens, e és uma terra que desfilha as suas nações;14 Por isso tu não devorarás mais os homens, nem desfilharás mais as tuas nações, diz o Senhor Deus.15 E farei que nunca mais tu ouças a afronta dos gentios; nem levarás mais sobre ti o opróbrio das gentes, nem mais desfilharás a tua nação, diz o Senhor Deus.16 E veio a mim a palavra do Senhor, dizendo:17 Filho do homem, quando a casa de Israel habitava na sua terra, então a contaminaram com os seus caminhos e com as suas ações. Como a imundícia de uma mulher em sua separação, tal era o seu caminho perante o meu rosto.18 Derramei, pois, o meu furor sobre eles, por causa do sangue que derramaram sobre a terra, e dos seus ídolos, com que a contaminaram.19 E espalhei-os entre os gentios, e foram dispersos pelas terras; conforme os seus caminhos, e conforme os seus feitos, eu os julguei.20 E, chegando aos gentios para onde foram, profanaram o meu santo nome, porquanto se dizia deles: Estes são o povo do Senhor, e saíram da sua terra.21 Mas eu os poupei por amor do meu santo nome, que a casa de Israel profanou entre os gentios para onde foi.22 Dize portanto à casa de Israel: Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Não é por respeito a vós que eu faço isto, ó casa de Israel, mas pelo meu santo nome, que profanastes entre as nações para onde fostes.23 E eu santificarei o meu grande nome, que foi profanado entre os gentios, o qual profanastes no meio deles; e os gentios saberão que eu sou o Senhor, diz o Senhor Deus, quando eu for santificado aos seus olhos.24 E vos tomarei dentre os gentios, e vos congregarei de todas as terras, e vos trarei para a vossa terra.25 Então aspergirei água pura sobre vós, e ficareis purificados; de todas as vossas imundícias e de todos os vossos ídolos vos purificarei.26 E dar-vos-ei um coração novo, e porei dentro de vós um espírito novo; e tirarei da vossa carne o coração de pedra, e vos darei um coração de carne.27 E porei dentro de vós o meu Espírito, e farei que andeis nos meus estatutos, e guardeis os meus juízos, e os observeis.28 E habitareis na terra que eu dei a vossos pais e vós sereis o meu povo, e eu serei o vosso Deus.29 E livrar-vos-ei de todas as vossas imundícias; e chamarei o trigo, e o multiplicarei, e não trarei fome sobre vós.30 E multiplicarei o fruto das árvores, e a novidade do campo, para que nunca mais recebais o opróbrio da fome entre os gentios.31 Então vos lembrareis dos vossos maus caminhos, e dos vossos feitos, que não foram bons; e tereis nojo em vós mesmos das vossas iniquidades e das vossas abominações.32 Não é por amor de vós que eu faço isto, diz o Senhor Deus; notório vos seja; envergonhai-vos, e confundi-vos por causa dos vossos caminhos, ó casa de Israel.33 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: No dia em que eu vos purificar de todas as vossas iniquidades, então farei com que sejam habitadas as cidades e sejam edificados os lugares devastados.34 E a terra assolada será lavrada, em lugar de estar assolada aos olhos de todos os que passavam.35 E dirão: Esta terra assolada ficou como jardim do Éden: e as cidades solitárias, e assoladas, e destruídas, estão fortalecidas e habitadas.36 Então saberão os gentios, que tiverem ficado ao redor de vós, que eu, o Senhor, tenho reedificado as cidades destruídas, e plantado o que estava devastado. Eu, o Senhor, o disse e o farei.37 Assim diz o Senhor Deus: Ainda por isso serei solicitado pela casa de Israel, que lho faça; multiplicar-lhes-ei os homens, como a um rebanho.38 Como o rebanho santificado, como o rebanho de Jerusalém nas suas solenidades, assim as cidades desertas se encherão de rebanhos de homens; e saberão que eu sou o Senhor.

1 But thou, son of man, prophesy unto the mountains of Israel, and say, O mountains of Israel, hear ye the word of the Lord.2 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because the enemy hath said regarding you, Aha, even the ancient high–places are become ours as a possession:3 Therefore prophesy and say, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because, even because men have made you desolate, and sought to swallow you up on every side, that ye might become a possession unto the residue of the nations, and ye are taken up as a talk for tongues, and an evil report of the people:4 Therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear ye the word of the Lord Eternal, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal to the mountains, and to the hills, to the ravines, and to the valleys, to the desolate ruins, and to the cities that are forsaken, which are become a prey and derision to the residue of the nations that are round about:5 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Idumea, that have appropriated my land unto themselves as a possession with the joy of all their heart, with derision in their soul, in order to drive it out that it may be for a prey.6 Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the mountains, and to the hills, to the ravines, and to the valleys, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Behold, In my zealousness and in my fury have I spoken, because ye have borne the reproach of the nations:7 Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, I have indeed lifted up my hand, that the nations who are round about you–– these shall bear their shame.8 But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall send forth your boughs, and your fruit shall ye bear for my people Israel, for they are near at hand to come.9 For, behold, I will be for you, and I will turn unto you, and ye shall be tilled and ye shall be sown;10 And I will multiply upon you men, all the house of Israel–– altogether; and the cities shall be inhabited again, and the ruins shall be rebuilt;11 And I will multiply upon you men and beast, and they shall increase and be fruitful; and I will cause you to be inhabited after your old estates, and will do more good unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.12 Yea, I will cause to walk upon you men, even my people Israel, and they shall possess thee, and thou shalt be unto them as an inheritance, and thou shalt not any more henceforth cast them out.13 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Because they say unto you, Thou land devourest up men, and hast been one that hath ever cast out thy nations:14 Therefore shalt thou not devour up men any more, and thy nations shalt thou not cast out any more, saith the Lord Eternal.15 And I will not let be heard against thee any more the reproach of the nations, and the disgrace of the people shalt thou not bear any more, and thy nations shalt thou not cast out any more, saith the Lord Eternal.16 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,17 Son of man, the house of Israel, when they dwelt in their own land, defiled it through their way and through their doings: like the uncleanness of a woman in her separation was their way before me.18 And I poured out my fury over them because of the blood that they had shed in the land, and because through their idols they had polluted it;19 And I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the countries: according to their way and according to their doings did I judge them.20 And when they were come unto the nations, whither they were gone, they profaned my holy name; because they said of them, These are the people of the Lord, and out of his land are they gone forth.21 But I had pity for my holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations, whither they were gone.22 Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Not for your sake do I this, O house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy name, which ye have profaned among the nations, whither ye are gone.23 And I will sanctify my great name, which was profaned among the nations, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord Eternal, when I will be sanctified through you before your eyes.24 And I will take you from among the nations, and I will gather you out of all the countries, and I will bring you unto your own land.25 And I will sprinkle upon you clean water, and ye shall be clean: from all your impurities, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will remove the heart of stone out of your body, and I will give you a heart of flesh.27 And my spirit I will put within you, and I will cause that you shall walk in my statutes, and that my ordinances ye shall keep, and do them.28 And ye shall dwell in the land which I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be unto me for a people, and I truly will be unto you as a God.29 And I will save you from all kinds of your impurities; and I will call unto the corn, and increase it, and I will not lay famine upon you.30 And I will multiply the fruit of the trees, and the products of the field: in order that ye may receive no more reproach on account of famine among the nations.31 Then shall ye remember your ways that they were evil, and your doings that were not good; and ye shall loathe yourselves on account of your iniquities and on account of your abominations.32 Not for your sake do I this, saith the Lord Eternal, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded because of your ways, O house of Israel.33 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, On the day of my cleansing you from all your iniquities, when I cause the cities to be inhabited, and when the ruins are built up,34 And when the desolate land is tilled, instead that it was a waste before the eyes of every passer by:35 Then shall they say, This land, that was desolate, is become like the garden of ‘Eden; and the cities that were ruined, and desolate, and broken down, are become fortified, and inhabited.36 And the nations that are left round about you shall know that I the Lord have built up the broken–down places, have planted the desolate land: I the Lord have spoken this, and have done it.37 Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Also in this will I yet suffer myself to be entreated of by the house of Israel, to do it for them, I will increase them with men like flocks in multitude.38 As the flocks of the holy things, as the flocks of Jerusalem on her appointed feasts, so shall the ruined cities be full of flocks of men: and they shall know that I am the Lord.
