1 Balança enganosa é abominação para o Senhor,
mas o peso justo é o seu prazer.
2 Em vindo a soberba, sobrevém a desonra,
mas com os humildes está a sabedoria.
3 A integridade dos retos os guia;
mas, aos pérfidos, a sua mesma falsidade os destrói.
4 As riquezas de nada aproveitam no dia da ira,
mas a justiça livra da morte.
5 A justiça do íntegro endireita o seu caminho,
mas pela sua impiedade cai o perverso.
6 A justiça dos retos os livrará,
mas na sua maldade os pérfidos serão apanhados.
7 Morrendo o homem perverso, morre a sua esperança,
e a expectação da iniquidade se desvanece.
8 O justo é libertado da angústia,
e o perverso a recebe em seu lugar.
9 O ímpio, com a boca, destrói o próximo,
mas os justos são libertados pelo conhecimento.
10 No bem-estar dos justos exulta a cidade,
e, perecendo os perversos, há júbilo.
11 Pela bênção que os retos suscitam, a cidade se exalta,
mas pela boca dos perversos é derribada.
12 O que despreza o próximo é falto de senso,
mas o homem prudente, este se cala.
13 O mexeriqueiro descobre o segredo,
mas o fiel de espírito o encobre.
14 Não havendo sábia direção, cai o povo,
mas na multidão de conselheiros há segurança.
15 Quem fica por fiador de outrem sofrerá males,
mas o que foge de o ser estará seguro.
16 A mulher graciosa alcança honra,
como os poderosos adquirem riqueza.
17 O homem bondoso faz bem a si mesmo,
mas o cruel a si mesmo se fere.
18 O perverso recebe um salário ilusório,
mas o que semeia justiça terá recompensa verdadeira.
19 Tão certo como a justiça conduz para a vida,
assim o que segue o mal, para a sua morte o faz.
20 Abomináveis para o Senhor são os perversos de coração,
mas os que andam em integridade são o seu prazer.
21 O mau, é evidente, não ficará sem castigo,
mas a geração dos justos é livre.
22 Como joia de ouro em focinho de porco,
assim é a mulher formosa que não tem discrição.
23 O desejo dos justos tende somente para o bem,
mas a expectação dos perversos redunda em ira.
24 A quem dá liberalmente, ainda se lhe acrescenta mais e mais;
ao que retém mais do que é justo, ser-lhe-á em pura perda.
25 A alma generosa prosperará,
e quem dá a beber será dessedentado.
26 Ao que retém o trigo, o povo o amaldiçoa,
mas bênção haverá sobre a cabeça do seu vendedor.
27 Quem procura o bem alcança favor,
mas ao que corre atrás do mal, este lhe sobrevirá.
28 Quem confia nas suas riquezas cairá,
mas os justos reverdecerão como a folhagem.
29 O que perturba a sua casa herda o vento,
e o insensato é servo do sábio de coração.
30 O fruto do justo é árvore de vida,
e o que ganha almas é sábio.
31 Se o justo é punido na terra,
quanto mais o perverso e o pecador!

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.2 When pride comes, then comes shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivers from death.5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.7 When a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perishes.8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked comes in his stead.9 An hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.12 He that is void of wisdom despises his neighbor: but a man of understanding holds his peace.13 A talebearer reveals secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit conceals the matter.14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hates indebtedness is sure.16 A gracious woman retains honor: and strong men retain riches.17 The merciful man does good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubles his own flesh.18 The wicked works a deceitful work: but to him that sows righteousness shall be a sure reward.19 As righteousness tends to life: so he that pursues evil pursues it to his own death.20 They that are of a fraudulent heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.22 As a jewel of gold in a swine' snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.23 The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.24 There is that scatters, and yet increases; and there is that withholds more than is meet, but it tends to poverty.25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that waters shall be watered also himself.26 He that withholds corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be on the head of him that sells it.27 He that diligently seeks good procures favor: but he that seeks mischief, it shall come to him.28 He that trusts in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.29 He that troubles his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that wins souls is wise.31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
