1 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Jehovah, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do, 2 that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon. 3 And Jehovah said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. 4 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances; 5 then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever, according as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel. 6 But if ye shall turn away from following me, ye or your children, and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; 7 then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 8 And though this house is so high, yet shall every one that passeth by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house? 9 and they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath Jehovah brought all this evil upon them.

10 And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the two houses, the house of Jehovah and the king’s house 11 (now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar-trees and fir-trees, and with gold, according to all his desire), that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. 12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not. 13 And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day. 14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

15 And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised, to build the house of Jehovah, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer. 16 Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a portion unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife. 17 And Solomon built Gezer, and Beth-horon the nether, 18 and Baalath, and Tamar in the wilderness, in the land, 19 and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion. 20 As for all the people that were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the children of Israel; 21 their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel were not able utterly to destroy, of them did Solomon raise a levy of bondservants unto this day. 22 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondservants; but they were the men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

23 These were the chief officers that were over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, who bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

24 But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

25 And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt-offerings and peace-offerings upon the altar which he built unto Jehovah, burning incense therewith, upon the altar that was before Jehovah. So he finished the house.

26 And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom. 27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon. 28 And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.

Mei și inima Mea vor fi acolo pe vecie. 4 Și tu, dacă vei umbla*Gen. 17:1. înaintea Mea cum*Cap. 11:4,6,38;14:8;15:5. a umblat tatăl tău, David, cu inimă curată și cu neprihănire, făcând tot ce ți-am poruncit, dacă vei păzi legile și poruncile Mele, 5 voi întări pe vecie scaunul de domnie al împărăției tale în Israel, cum*2 Sam. 7:12,16. Cap. 2:4;6:12.1 Cron. 22:10.Ps. 132:12. am spus tatălui tău, David, când am zis: ‘Nu vei fi lipsit niciodată de un urmaș pe scaunul de domnie al lui Israel.’ 6 Dar*2 Sam. 7:14.2 Cron. 7:19,20.Ps. 89:30., dacă vă veți abate de la Mine voi și fiii voștri, dacă nu veți păzi poruncile Mele și legile Mele pe care vi le-am dat și dacă vă veți duce să slujiți altor dumnezei și să vă închinați înaintea lor, 7 voi*Deut. 4:26.2 Împ. 17:33;25:21. nimici pe Israel din țara pe care i-am dat-o, voi lepăda de la Mine casa pe care am sfințit-o Numelui*Ier. 7:14. Meu, și Israel va ajunge de râs*Deut. 28:37.Ps. 44:14. și de pomină printre toate popoarele. 8 Și oricât de înaltă este casa*2 Cron. 7:21. aceasta, oricine va trece pe lângă ea va rămâne încremenit și va fluiera. Și va zice: ‘Pentru ce*Deut. 29:24-26.Ier. 22:8,9. a făcut Domnul așa țării acesteia și casei acesteia?’ 9 Și i se va răspunde: ‘Pentru că au părăsit pe Domnul Dumnezeul lor, care a scos pe părinții lor din țara Egiptului, pentru că s-au alipit de alți dumnezei, s-au închinat înaintea lor și le-au slujit, de aceea a făcut Domnul să vină peste ei toate aceste rele.’"

10 După douăzeci*Cap. 6:37,38;7:1.1 Cron. 8:1. de ani, Solomon zidise cele două case: Casa Domnului și casa împăratului. 11 Atunci, fiindcă Hiram*2 Cron. 8:2., împăratul Tirului, dăduse lui Solomon lemne de cedru și lemne de chiparos și aur cât a voit, împăratul Solomon a dat lui Hiram douăzeci de cetăți în țara Galileii. 12 Hiram a ieșit din Tir să vadă cetățile pe care i le dădea Solomon. Dar nu i-au plăcut 13 și a zis: „Ce cetăți mi-ai dat, frate?" Și le-a numit*Ios. 19:27. Țara Cabul, nume pe care l-au păstrat până în ziua de azi. 14 Hiram trimisese împăratului o sută douăzeci de talanți de aur. 15 Iată cum stau lucrurile cu privire la oamenii de corvoadă*Cap. 5:13. pe care i-a luat împăratul Solomon pentru zidirea Casei Domnului și a casei sale Milo*Vers. 24.2 Sam. 5:9. și a zidului Ierusalimului, Hațorului*Ios. 19:36., Meghidoului*Ios. 17:11. și Ghezerului*Ios. 16:10.Jud. 1:29.. 16 Faraon, împăratul Egiptului, venise și cucerise Ghezerul, îi dăduse foc și omorâse pe canaaniții*Ios. 16:10. care locuiau în cetate. Apoi, îl dăduse de zestre fetei lui, nevasta lui Solomon. 17 Și Solomon a zidit Ghezerul, Bet-Horonul*Ios. 16:3;21:22.2 Cron. 8:5. de jos, 18 Baalatul*Ios. 19:44.2 Cron. 8:4,6. și Tadmorul în pustia țării, 19 toate cetățile slujindu-i ca magazii și fiind ale lui: cetățile pentru*Cap. 4:26. care, cetățile pentru călărime și tot ce a găsit cu*Vers. 1. cale Solomon să zidească la Ierusalim, la Liban și în toată țara peste care împărățea. 20 Iar*2 Cron. 8:7. pe tot poporul care mai rămăsese din amoriți, hetiți, fereziți, heviți și iebusiți, nefăcând parte din copiii lui Israel, 21 pe urmașii lor care mai rămăseseră*Jud. 1:21,27,29;3:1. după ei în țară și pe care*Ios. 15:63;17:12. copiii lui Israel nu-i putuseră nimici cu desăvârșire, Solomon i-a luat*Jud. 1:28. ca robi de corvoadă*Gen. 9:25,26.Ezra 2:55,58.Neem. 7:57;11:3., și așa au fost până în ziua de astăzi. 22 Dar Solomon n-a întrebuințat ca robi*Lev. 25:39. de corvoadă pe copiii lui Israel, căci ei erau oameni de război, slujitorii lui, căpeteniile lui, căpitanii lui, cârmuitorii carelor și călărimii lui. 23 Căpeteniile puse de Solomon peste lucrări erau în număr de cinci sute cincizeci*2 Cron. 8:10., însărcinați să privegheze pe lucrători. 24 Fata*Cap. 3:1.2 Cron. 8:11. lui Faraon s-a suit din cetatea lui David în casa*Cap. 7:8.2 Sam. 5:9. ei, pe care i-o zidise Solomon. Atunci a zidit el Milo*Cap. 11:2.2 Cron. 32:5.. 25 Solomon aducea*2 Cron. 8:12,13,16. de trei ori pe an arderi-de-tot și jertfe de mulțumire pe altarul pe care-l zidise Domnului și ardea tămâie pe cel care era înaintea Domnului. Și a isprăvit astfel casa. 26 Împăratul*2 Cron. 8:17,18. Solomon a mai făcut și corăbii la Ețion-Gheber*Num. 33:35.Deut. 2:8. Cap. 22:48., lângă Elot, pe țărmurile Mării Roșii, în țara Edomului. 27 Și Hiram*Cap. 10:11. a trimis cu aceste corăbii, la slujitorii lui Solomon, pe înșiși slujitorii lui, marinari care cunoșteau marea. 28 S-au dus la Ofir*Iov 22:24. și au luat de acolo aur, patru sute douăzeci de talanți, pe care i-au adus împăratului Solomon.
