1 E a palavra do SENHOR veio a mim, dizendo:
2 Filho do homem, o que é a árvore da videira mais do que qualquer outra árvore, ou do que um galho que está entre as árvores da floresta?
3 Será a madeira tirada de lá para se fazer alguma obra? Ou homens tomarão um pino dela para pendurar-lhe algum vaso?
4 Eis que é lançado no fogo, por combustível; o fogo devora ambas as suas extremidades, e o meio dela é queimado; servirá para qualquer obra?
5 Eis que, quando estava inteiro, não servia para obra alguma, quanto menos agora, quando o fogo o tiver devorado, e estiver queimado! Servirá para algo?
6 Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Como a árvore da videira entre as árvores da floresta, que entreguei ao fogo por combustível, assim entregarei os habitantes de Jerusalém.
7 E eu colocarei a minha face contra eles; eles sairão de um fogo e outro fogo os devorará; e sabereis que eu sou o SENHOR, quando eu colocar a minha face contra eles.
8 E tornarei a terra assolada, porque cometeram uma transgressão, diz o Senhor DEUS.
1 And the Word of the LORD came to me, saying,
2 Son of man, how is the vine tree more than any other tree, [or than] a branch which is among the trees of the forest?
3 Shall wood be taken from it to do work? Or will [men] take from it [for] a peg to hang any vessel on it?
4 Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel. The fire devours both its ends, and its middle is charred. Is it fit for [any] work?
5 Behold, when it was whole, it was not made for work. How much less when the fire has devoured it, and it is charred? Shall it yet be made to work?
6 Therefore so says the Lord Jehovah, As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give the people of Jerusalem.
7 And I will set My face against them; they shall go out from the fire, and the fire shall devour them. And you shall know that I [am] the LORD when I set My face against them.
8 And I will make the land [to be] desolate, because they have committed a treacherous act, says the Lord Jehovah.
