1 [To the chief Musician. 'Destroy not.' A Psalm of Asaph: a Song.] Unto thee we give thanks, O God, we give thanks; and thy name is near: thy marvellous works declare it.2 When I shall receive the assembly, I will judge with equity.3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I have established its pillars. Selah.4 I said unto the boastful, Boast not; and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:5 Lift not up your horn on high; speak not arrogantly with a {stiff} neck.6 For not from the east nor from the west, nor yet from the south doth exaltation {come}:7 For God is the judge; he putteth down one and exalteth another.8 For in the hand of Jehovah there is a cup, and it foameth with wine, it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same; yea, the dregs thereof shall all the wicked of the earth drain off, {and} drink.9 But as for me, I will declare for ever; I will sing psalms to the God of Jacob.10 And all the horns of the wicked will I cut off; {but} the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

1 Graças te rendemos, ó Deus; Graças te rendemos, pois próximo está o teu nome: Os homens anunciam as tuas maravilhas.2 Quando chegar o tempo marcado, Eu julgarei com eqüidade.3 Ainda que se estejam dissolvendo a terra e todos os seus habitantes, Sou eu quem lhe firma as colunas. (Selá)4 Eu disse aos arrogantes: Não sejais arrogantes, E aos perversos: Não levanteis a vossa fronte.5 Não levanteis ao alto a vossa fronte, Não faleis arrogantemente contra a Rocha.6 Pois não é do oriente, nem do ocidente, Nem dos desertos das montanhas que vem auxílio.7 Mas Deus é o juiz: A um abate, a outro exalta.8 Porque há na mão de Jeová um copo, cujo vinho espuma; É cheio de mistura, e ele dá a beber da mesma: De certo as suas fezes, todos os perversos da terra as hão de absorver e de beber.9 Mas quanto a mim, para sempre declararei, Cantarei louvores ao Deus de Jacó.10 Todas as forças dos perversos, abatê-las-ei; Mas as forças do justo serão exaltadas.
