1 [To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] How long, Jehovah, wilt thou forget me for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, with sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?3 Consider, answer me, O Jehovah my God! lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the {sleep of} death;4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him! {lest} mine adversaries be joyful when I am moved.5 As for me, I have confided in thy loving-kindness; my heart shall be joyful in thy salvation.6 I will sing unto Jehovah, for he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Por quanto tempo ainda desviareis de mim os vossos olhares?2 Até quando aninharei a angústia na minha alma, e, dia após dia, a tristeza no coração?3 Até quando se levantará o meu inimigo contra mim? Olhai! Ouvi-me, Senhor, ó meu Deus!4 Iluminai meus olhos com vossa luz, para eu não adormecer na morte, para que meu inimigo não venha a dizer: Venci-o;5 e meus adversários não triunfem no momento de minha queda, eu que confiei em vossa misericórdia. Antes possa meu coração regozijar-se em vosso socorro!6 Então cantarei ao Senhor pelos benefícios que me concedeu.
