1 O Israel, return unto Jehovah thy God*GodHebrew: Elohim for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. 2 Take with you words, and turn to Jehovah; say unto him, Forgive all iniquity, and receive us graciously; so will we render the calves of our lips. 3 Assyria shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Thou art our God*GodHebrew: Elohim because in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely; for mine anger is turned away from him. 5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall blossom as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. 6 His shoots shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive-tree, and his smell as Lebanon. 7 They shall return and sit under his shadow; they shall revive as corn, and blossom as the vine: the renown thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

8 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? (I answer him, and I will observe him.) I am like a green fir-tree. — From me is thy fruit found. 9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? intelligent, and he shall know them? For the ways of Jehovah are right, and the just shall walk in them; but the transgressors shall fall therein.

Căci mânia Mea s-a abătut de la ei! 5 Voi fi ca roua*Iov 29:19.Prov. 19:12. pentru Israel; el va înflori ca crinul și va da rădăcini ca Libanul. 6 Ramurile lui se vor întinde; măreția lui va fi ca a măslinului*Ps. 52:8;128:3. și miresmele*Gen. 27:27.Cânt. 4:11. lui, ca ale Libanului. 7 Iarăși vor locui*Ps. 91:1. la umbra lui, iarăși vor da viață grâului, vor înflori ca via și vor avea faima vinului din Liban. 8 Ce mai*Vers. 3. are Efraim a face cu idolii? Îl voi asculta*Ier. 31:18. și-l voi privi, voi fi pentru el ca un chiparos verde; de la Mine îți vei primi rodul*Iac. 1:17.." 9 Cine este înțelept*Ps. 107:43.Ier. 9:12.Dan. 12:10.Ioan 8:47;18:37. să ia seama la aceste lucruri! Cine este priceput să le înțeleagă! Căci căile Domnului sunt drepte*Prov. 10:29.Luca 2:34.2 Cor. 2:16.1 Pet. 2:7,8. și cei drepți umblă pe ele, dar cei răzvrătiți cad pe ele.
