1 These are the statutes and the judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land which the LORD, the God of thy fathers, hath given thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth. 2 Ye shall surely destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: 3 and ye shall break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods; and ye shall destroy their name out of that place. 4 Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God. 5 But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come: 6 and thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock: 7 and there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee. 8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes: 9 for ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God causeth you to inherit, and he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety; 11 then it shall come to pass that the place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD: 12 and ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates, forasmuch as he hath no portion nor inheritance with you. 13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest: 14 but in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee. 15 Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh within all thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart. 16 Only ye shall not eat the blood; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water. 17 Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thine oil, or the firstlings of thy herd or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, nor the heave offering of thine hand: 18 but thou shalt eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. 19 Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon thy land. 20 When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul desireth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, after all the desire of thy soul. 21 If the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat within thy gates, after all the desire of thy soul. 22 Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat thereof: the unclean and the clean shall eat thereof alike. 23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou shalt not eat the life with the flesh. 24 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it out upon the earth as water. 25 Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD. 26 Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose: 27 and thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh. 28 Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the eyes of the LORD thy God. 29 When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest in to possess them, and thou possessest them, and dwellest in their land; 30 take heed to thyself that thou be not ensnared to follow them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods. 32 What thing soever I command you, that shall ye observe to do: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

1 — São estes os estatutos e juízos que vocês devem ter o cuidado de cumprir todos os dias que viverem na terra que o Senhor, o Deus dos seus pais, lhes deu por herança. 2 Destruam por completo todos os lugares onde as nações que vocês irão expulsar serviram os seus deuses, sobre as altas montanhas, sobre as colinas e debaixo de toda árvore frondosa. 3 Derrubem os seus altares, quebrem as suas colunas sagradas, queimem os postes da deusa Aserá, despedacem as imagens esculpidas dos seus deuses e façam com que o nome desses deuses desapareça daquele lugar.

4 — Não é assim que vocês devem adorar o Senhor, seu Deus. 5 Pelo contrário, busquem o lugar que o Senhor, seu Deus, escolher entre todas as tribos, para ali pôr o seu nome e sua habitação; é para lá que vocês devem ir. 6 A esse lugar vocês devem levar os seus holocaustos, os seus sacrifícios, os seus dízimos, as ofertas que vocês prepararam, as ofertas prometidas, as ofertas voluntárias e os primogênitos das vacas e das ovelhas de vocês. 7 Ali, vocês comerão diante do Senhor, seu Deus, e se alegrarão em tudo o que fizerem, vocês e as suas famílias, no que o Senhor, seu Deus, os tiver abençoado.

8 — Vocês não farão como hoje estamos fazendo aqui, cada um segundo melhor lhe parece, 9 porque ainda não entraram no descanso e na herança que o Senhor, seu Deus, lhes dará. 10 Mas vocês irão passar o Jordão e morar na terra que o Senhor, seu Deus, lhes dará por herança. Ele lhes dará descanso de todos os seus inimigos ao redor, e vocês viverão seguros. 11 Então haverá um lugar que o Senhor, seu Deus, escolherá para ali fazer habitar o seu nome. A esse lugar vocês levarão tudo o que eu lhes ordeno: os seus holocaustos, os seus sacrifícios, os seus dízimos, as ofertas que vocês prepararam e tudo o que tiverem decidido oferecer ao Senhor em cumprimento a um voto. 12 E vocês se alegrarão diante do Senhor, seu Deus, vocês, os seus filhos, as suas filhas, os seus servos e as suas servas e os levitas que moram nas cidades em que vocês vivem e que não têm porção nem herança entre vocês. 13 Cuidado! Não ofereçam os seus holocaustos em qualquer lugar que encontrarem, 14 mas, no lugar que o Senhor escolher numa das tribos de vocês, ali vocês devem oferecer os seus holocaustos e ali farão tudo o que lhes ordeno.

15 — Porém, sempre que desejarem, vocês podem matar animais e comer carne nas cidades em que estiverem morando, segundo a bênção do Senhor, seu Deus. Todos vocês, tanto os que estiverem impuros como os que estiverem puros, poderão comer, assim como se come carne de gazela ou de veado. 16 Tão somente não comam o sangue; este deve ser derramado na terra como se fosse água. 17 Nas suas cidades, vocês não poderão comer o dízimo do cereal, nem do vinho, nem do azeite, nem os primogênitos das vacas e das ovelhas, nem nenhuma das ofertas que tiverem prometido, nem as ofertas voluntárias, nem as ofertas que vocês prepararam. 18 Estas ofertas só poderão ser comidas diante do Senhor, seu Deus, no lugar que o Senhor, o Deus de vocês, escolher. Isto se aplica a vocês, a seus filhos e filhas, a seus servos e servas, e aos levitas que moram nas cidades onde vocês vivem. Vocês se alegrarão diante do Senhor, seu Deus, em tudo o que fizerem. 19 Tenham o cuidado de não desamparar o levita durante todo o tempo em que vocês viverem naquela terra.

20 — Quando o Senhor, seu Deus, ampliar o território de vocês, como ele lhes prometeu, e vocês disserem: "Queremos comer carne", porque este é o seu desejo, vocês poderão comer carne, segundo o seu desejo. 21 Se estiver longe de vocês o lugar que o Senhor, seu Deus, escolher para ali fazer habitar o seu nome, vocês poderão matar das vacas e ovelhas que o Senhor lhes tiver dado, conforme lhes ordenei; e comerão a carne nas cidades em que estiverem morando, segundo todo o seu desejo. 22 Porém, vocês devem comer destas carnes como se come carne de gazela ou de veado; e delas tanto as pessoas impuras como as puras podem comer. 23 Somente tenham o cuidado de não comer o sangue, porque o sangue é a vida, e vocês não devem comer a vida com a carne. 24 Não comam o sangue; este deve ser derramado na terra como se fosse água. 25 Não o comam, para que tudo vá bem com vocês e com os seus filhos depois de vocês, quando fizerem o que é reto aos olhos do Senhor. 26 Porém as coisas que tiverem consagrado daquilo que lhes pertence e as ofertas prometidas vocês devem pegar e levar para o lugar que o Senhor escolher. 27 E ali, sobre o altar do Senhor, seu Deus, vocês oferecerão os seus holocaustos, a carne e o sangue. Derramem o sangue dos seus sacrifícios sobre o altar do Senhor, seu Deus; porém a carne vocês podem comer. 28 Guardem e cumpram todas estas palavras que eu lhes ordeno, para que tudo vá bem com vocês e com os seus filhos depois de vocês, para sempre, quando fizerem o que é bom e reto aos olhos do Senhor, seu Deus.

29 — Quando o Senhor, seu Deus, eliminar de diante de vocês as nações que moram na terra em que vocês vão entrar para dela tomar posse, e vocês desalojarem essas nações para habitar na terra delas, 30 cuidem para que vocês não caiam na cilada de imitar essas nações, depois que elas foram eliminadas de diante de vocês. Não procurem saber a respeito dos deuses dessas nações, dizendo: "Assim como estas nações serviram os seus deuses, também nós queremos fazer!" 31 Não é assim que vocês devem adorar o Senhor, seu Deus, porque eles adoraram os seus deuses, fazendo tudo o que é abominável ao Senhor e que ele odeia; até seus filhos e suas filhas eles queimaram aos seus deuses.

32 — Tudo o que eu lhes ordeno vocês devem observar; não acrescentem nem diminuam nada.
