Te Mana Ariki o te Atua
1 Anō rā ko Pirirara Huhi, i mea ia:
2 "Kei a ia te kīngitanga me te wehi:
ko ia hei hohou i te rongo i ōna wāhi tiketike.
3 E taea rānei āna ope te tatau?
Ko wai hoki i kore te whitingia e tōna mārama?
4 Ā, mā te aha rā te tangata ka whakatikaia mai ai e te Atua?
Mā te aha ka mā ai te whānau a te wahine?
5 Nanā, ko te marama, kāhore ōna tīahotanga,
kāhore hoki ngā whetū kia mā ki tāna titiro;
6 kia iti rawa iho tō te tangata, he kutukutu nei!
Tō te tama ā te tangata, he iro nei!"
1 Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2 Dominion and fear are with him;
He maketh peace in his high places.
3 Is there any number of his armies?
And upon whom doth not his light arise?
4 How then can man be just with God?
Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?
5 Behold, even the moon hath no brightness,
And the stars are not pure in his sight:
6 How much less man, that is a worm!
And the son of man, that is a worm!
