1 Estes são os decretos e ordenanças que vocês devem ter o cuidado de cumprir enquanto viverem na terra que o Senhor, o Deus dos seus antepassados, deu a vocês como herança.2 Destruam completamente todos os lugares nos quais as nações que vocês estão desalojando adoram os seus deuses, tanto nos altos montes como nas colinas e à sombra de toda árvore frondosa.3 Derrubem os seus altares, esmigalhem as suas colunas sagradas e queimem os seus postes sagrados; despedacem os ídolos dos seus deuses e eliminem os nomes deles daqueles lugares.4 Vocês, porém, não adorarão ao Senhor, o seu Deus, como eles.5 Mas procurarão o local que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher dentre todas as tribos para ali pôr o seu nome para sua habitação. Para lá vocês deverão ir6 e levar holocaustos e sacrifícios, dízimos e dádivas especiais, o que em voto tiverem prometido, as suas ofertas voluntárias e a primeira cria de todos os rebanhos.7 Ali, na presença do Senhor, do seu Deus, vocês e suas famílias comerão e se alegrarão com tudo o que tiverem feito, pois o Senhor, o seu Deus, os terá abençoado.8 Vocês não agirão como estamos agindo aqui, cada um fazendo o que bem entende,9 pois ainda não chegaram ao lugar de descanso e à herança que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes está dando.10 Mas vocês atravessarão o Jordão e se estabelecerão na terra que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes dá como herança, e ele lhes concederá descanso de todos os inimigos que os cercam, para que vocês vivam em segurança.11 Então, para o lugar que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher como habitação do seu Nome, vocês levarão tudo o que eu lhes ordenar: holocaustos e sacrifícios, dízimos e dádivas especiais e tudo o que tiverem prometido em voto ao Senhor.12 E regozijem-se ali perante o Senhor, o seu Deus, vocês, os seus filhos e filhas, os seus servos e servas e os levitas que vivem nas cidades de vocês, por não terem recebido terras nem propriedades.13 Tenham o cuidado de não sacrificar os seus holocaustos em qualquer lugar que lhes agrade.14 Ofereçam-nos somente no local que o Senhor escolher numa das suas tribos, e ali ponham em prática tudo o que eu lhes ordenar.15 No entanto, vocês poderão abater os seus animais em qualquer das suas cidades e comer quanta carne desejarem, como se fosse carne de gazela ou de veado, de acordo com a bênção que o Senhor, o seu Deus, lhes der. Tanto os cerimonialmente impuros quanto os puros poderão comê-la.16 Mas não poderão comer o sangue; derramem-no no chão como se fosse água.17 Vocês não poderão comer em suas próprias cidades o dízimo do cereal, do vinho novo e do azeite, nem a primeira cria dos rebanhos, nem o que, em voto, tiverem prometido, nem as suas ofertas voluntárias ou dádivas especiais.18 Ao invés disso, vocês os comerão na presença do Senhor, do seu Deus, no local que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher; vocês, os seus filhos e filhas, os seus servos e servas, e os levitas das suas cidades. Alegrem-se perante o Senhor, o seu Deus, em tudo o que fizerem.19 Tenham o cuidado de não abandonar os levitas enquanto vocês viverem na sua terra.20 Quando o Senhor, o seu Deus, tiver aumentado o seu território conforme lhes prometeu, e vocês desejarem comer carne e disserem: "Gostaríamos de um pouco de carne", poderão comer o quanto quiserem.21 Se o local que o Senhor, o seu Deus, escolher para pôr o seu Nome ficar longe demais, vocês poderão abater animais de todos os rebanhos que o Senhor lhes der, conforme lhes ordenei, e em suas próprias cidades poderão comer quanta carne desejarem.22 Vocês a comerão como comeriam carne de gazela ou de veado. Tanto os cerimonialmente impuros quanto os puros poderão comer.23 Mas não comam o sangue, porque o sangue é a vida, e vocês não poderão comer a vida com o sangue.24 Vocês não comerão o sangue; derramem-no no chão como se fosse água.25 Não o comam, para que tudo vá bem com vocês e com os seus filhos, porque estarão fazendo o que é justo perante o Senhor.26 Todavia, apanhem os seus objetos consagrados e o que, em voto, tiverem prometido, e dirijam-se ao local que o Senhor escolher.27 Apresentem os seus holocaustos colocando-os no altar do Senhor, do seu Deus, tanto a carne quanto o sangue. O sangue dos seus sacrifícios será derramado ao lado do altar do Senhor, do seu Deus, mas vocês poderão comer a carne.28 Tenham o cuidado de obedecer a todos estes regulamentos que lhe estou dando, para que sempre vá tudo bem com vocês e com os seus filhos, porque estarão fazendo o que é bom e certo perante o Senhor, o seu Deus.29 O Senhor, o seu Deus, eliminará da sua presença as nações que vocês estão a ponto de invadir e expulsar. Mas, quando vocês as tiverem expulsado e tiverem se estabelecido na terra delas,30 e depois que elas forem destruídas, tenham cuidado para não serem enganados e para não se interessarem pelos deuses delas, dizendo: "Como essas nações servem aos seus deuses? Faremos o mesmo".31 Não adorem ao Senhor, ao seu Deus, como fazem essas nações, porque, ao adorarem os seus deuses, elas fazem todo tipo de coisas repugnantes que o Senhor odeia, como queimar seus filhos e filhas no fogo em sacrifícios aos seus deuses.32 Apliquem-se a fazer tudo o que eu lhes ordeno; não lhe acrescentem nem lhe tirem coisa alguma.

1 These are the statutes and the ordinances which you{+} will observe to do in the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess it, all the days that you{+} live on the earth.2 You{+} will surely destroy all the places where the nations that you{+} will dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains, and on the hills, and under every green tree:3 and you{+} will break down their altars, and dash in pieces their pillars, and burn their Asherim with fire; and you{+} will cut down the graven images of their gods; and you{+} will destroy their name out of that place.4 You{+} will not do so to Yahweh your{+} God.5 But to the place which Yahweh your{+} God will choose out of all your{+} tribes, to put his name there to stay, you{+} will seek, and there you will come;6 and there you{+} will bring your{+} burnt-offerings, and your{+} sacrifices, and your{+} tithes, and the heave-offering of your{+} hand, and your{+} vows, and your{+} freewill-offerings, and the firstborns of your{+} herd and of your{+} flock:7 and there you{+} will eat before Yahweh your{+} God, and you{+} will rejoice in all that you{+} put your{+} hand to, you{+} and your{+} households, in which Yahweh your God has blessed you.8 You{+} will not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatever is right in his own eyes;9 for you{+} have not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which Yahweh your God gives you.10 But when you{+} go over the Jordan, and dwell in the land which Yahweh your{+} God causes you{+} to inherit, and he gives you{+} rest from all your{+} enemies round about, so that you{+} dwell in safety;11 then it will come to pass that to the place which Yahweh your{+} God will choose to make his name stay there, there you{+} will bring all that I command you{+}: your{+} burnt-offerings, and your{+} sacrifices, your{+} tithes, and the heave-offering of your{+} hand, and all your{+} choice vows which you{+} vow to Yahweh.12 And you{+} will rejoice before Yahweh your{+} God, you{+}, and your{+} sons, and your{+} daughters, and your{+} male slaves, and your{+} female slaves, and the Levite who is inside your{+} gates, since he has no portion nor inheritance with you{+}.13 You be careful not to offer your burnt-offerings in every place that you see;14 but in the place which Yahweh will choose in one of your tribes, there you will offer your burnt-offerings, and there you will do all that I command you.15 Notwithstanding, you may kill and eat flesh inside all your gates, after all the desire of your soul, according to the blessing of Yahweh your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may eat of it, as of the gazelle, and as of the hart.16 Only you{+} will not eat the blood; you will pour it out on the earth as water.17 You may not eat inside your gates the tithe of your grain, or of your new wine, or of your oil, or the firstborns of your herd or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vow, nor your freewill-offerings, nor the heave-offering of your hand;18 but you will eat them before Yahweh your God in the place which Yahweh your God will choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your male slave, and your female slave, and the Levite who is inside your gates: and you will rejoice before Yahweh your God in all that you put your hand to.19 You be careful not to forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.20 When Yahweh your God will enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you will say, I will eat flesh, because your soul desires to eat flesh; you may eat flesh, after all the desire of your soul.21 If the place which Yahweh your God will choose, to put his name there, is too far from you, then you will kill of your herd and of your flock, which Yahweh has given you, as I have commanded you; and you may eat inside your gates, after all the desire of your soul.22 Even as the gazelle and as the hart is eaten, so you will eat of it: the unclean and the clean may eat of it alike.23 Only be sure that you don't eat the blood: for the blood is the life; and you will not eat the life with the flesh.24 You will not eat it; you will pour it out on the earth as water.25 You will not eat it; that it may go well with you, and with your sons after you, when you will do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh.26 Only your holy things which you have, and your vows, you will take, and go to the place which Yahweh will choose:27 and you will offer your burnt-offerings, the flesh and the blood, on the altar of Yahweh your God; and the blood of your sacrifices will be poured out on the altar of Yahweh your God; and you will eat the flesh.28 Observe and hear all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you, and with your sons after you forever, when you do that which is good and right in the eyes of Yahweh your God.29 When Yahweh your God will cut off the nations from before you, where you go in to dispossess them, and you dispossess them, and dwell in their land;30 You be careful not to be ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you; or else you will inquire after their gods, saying, How do these nations serve their gods? Even so I will do likewise.31 You will not do so to Yahweh your God: for every disgusting thing to Yahweh, which he hates, they have done to their gods; for even their sons and their daughters do they burn in the fire to their gods.32 Whatever thing I command you{+}, that you{+} will observe to do: you will not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
