1 Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:2 "Filho do homem, faça um lamento a respeito de Tiro.3 Diga a Tiro, que está junto à entrada para o mar, mercadora de povos em muitos litorais: ‘Assim diz o Soberano Senhor: " ‘Você diz, ó Tiro: "Minha beleza é perfeita".4 Seu domínio abrangia o coração dos mares; seus construtores levaram a sua beleza à perfeição.5 Eles fizeram todo o seu madeiramento com pinheiros de Senir; apanharam um cedro do Líbano para fazer-lhe um mastro.6 Dos carvalhos de Basã fizeram os seus remos; de cipreste procedente das costas de Chipre fizeram seu convés, revestido de mármore.7 De belo linho bordado, procedente do Egito foram feitas as suas velas e lhe serviu de bandeira; seus toldos, em vermelho e azul, provinham das costas de Elisá.8 Habitantes de Sidom e Arvade eram os seus remadores; os seus homens hábeis, ó Tiro, estavam a bordo na qualidade de marinheiros.9 Artesãos veteranos de Gebal estavam a bordo como construtores de barcos para calafetarem as suas juntas. Todos os navios do mar e seus marinheiros vinham para negociar as mercadorias que você tem.10 " ‘Os persas, os lídios e os homens de Fute serviam como soldados em seu exército. Eles penduravam os seus escudos e capacetes nos seus muros, trazendo-lhe esplendor.11 Homens de Arvade e de Heleque guarneciam os seus muros em todos os lados; homens de Gamade estavam em suas torres. Eles penduravam os seus escudos em seus muros ao redor; levaram a beleza de você à perfeição.12 " ‘Társis fez negócios com você, tendo em vista os seus muitos bens; eles deram prata, ferro, estanho e chumbo em troca de suas mercadorias.13 " ‘Javã, Tubal e Meseque fizeram comércio com você; trocaram escravos e utensílios de bronze pelos seus bens.14 " ‘Homens de Bete-Togarma trocaram cavalos de carga, cavalos de guerra e mulas pelas suas mercadorias.15 " ‘Os homens de Rodes fizeram comércio com você, e muitas regiões costeiras se tornaram seus clientes; eles lhe pagaram com presas de marfim e com ébano.16 " ‘Arã fez negócios com você atraídos por seus muitos produtos; em troca de suas mercadorias deram-lhe turquesa, tecido vermelho, trabalhos bordados, linho fino, coral e rubis.17 " ‘Judá e Israel fizeram comércio com você; pelos seus bens eles trocaram trigo de Minite, confeitos, mel, azeite e bálsamo.18 " ‘Damasco, em razão dos muitos produtos de que você dispõe e da grande riqueza de seus bens, fez negócios com você, pagando-lhe com vinho de Helbom e lã de Zaar.19 " ‘Também Dã e Javã de Uzal, compraram mercadorias de vocês, trocando-as por ferro, cássia e cálamo.20 " ‘Dedã negociou com você mantos de sela.21 " ‘A Arábia e todos os príncipes de Quedar eram seus clientes; fizeram negócios com você, fornecendo-lhes cordeiros, carneiros e bodes.22 " ‘Os mercadores de Sabá e de Raamá fizeram comércio com você; pelas mercadorias que você vende eles trocaram o que há de melhor em toda espécie de especiarias, pedras preciosas, e ouro.23 " ‘Harã, Cane e Éden e os mercadores de Sabá, Assur e Quilmade fizeram comércio com você.24 No seu mercado eles negociaram com você lindas roupas, tecido azul, trabalhos bordados e tapetes multicoloridos com cordéis retorcidos e de nós firmes.25 " ‘Os navios de Társis transportam os seus bens. Você está cheia de carga pesada no coração do mar.26 Seus remadores a levam para alto mar. Mas o vento oriental a despedaçará no coração do mar.27 Sua riqueza, suas mercadorias e seus bens, seus marujos, seus homens do mar e seus construtores de barcos, seus mercadores e todos os seus soldados, todos quantos estão a bordo sucumbirão no coração do mar no dia do seu naufrágio.28 As praias tremerão quando os seus marujos clamarem.29 Todos os que manejam os remos abandonarão os seus navios; os marujos e todos os marinheiros ficarão na praia.30 Erguerão a voz e gritarão com amargura por sua causa; espalharão poeira sobre as suas cabeças e rolarão na cinza.31 Raparão a cabeça por sua causa e porão vestes de lamento. Chorarão por você com angústia na alma e com pranto amargurado.32 Quando estiverem gritando e pranteando por você, erguerão este lamento a seu respeito: "Quem chegou a ser silenciada como Tiro, cercada pelo mar? "33 Quando as suas mercadorias saíam para o mar, você satisfazia muitas nações; com sua grande riqueza e com seus bens você enriqueceu os reis da terra.34 Agora, destruída pelo mar, você jaz nas profundezas das águas; seus bens e todos os que a acompanham afundaram com você.35 Todos os que moram nas regiões litorâneas estão chocados com o que aconteceu com você; seus reis arrepiam-se horrorizados e os seus rostos estão desfigurados de medo.36 Os mercadores entre as nações gritam de medo, ao vê-la; chegou o seu terrível fim, e você não mais existirá’ ".

1 The word of Yahweh came again to me, saying,2 And you, Son of Man, take up a lamentation over Tyre;3 and say to Tyre, O you that dwell at the entry of the sea, that are the merchant of the peoples to many isles, thus says the Sovereign Yahweh: You, O Tyre, have said, I am perfect in beauty.4 Your borders are in the heart of the seas; your builders have perfected your beauty.5 They have made all your planks of fir-trees from Senir; they have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you.6 Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars; they have made your benches of ivory inlaid in cypress-wood, from the isles of Kittim.7 Of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was your sail, that it might be to you for an ensign; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was your awning.8 The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers: your wise men, O Tyre, were in you, they were your pilots.9 The old men of Gebal and its wise men were in you, your caulkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to deal in your merchandise.10 Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, your men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in you; they set forth your comeliness.11 The men of Arvad with your army were on your walls round about, and valorous men were in your towers; they hanged their shields on your walls round about; they have perfected your beauty.12 Tarshish was your merchant by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded for your wares.13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were your traffickers; they traded the souls of man and vessels of bronze for your merchandise.14 They of the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses and warhorses and mules.15 The sons of Rodan were your traffickers; many isles were the mart of your hand: they brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.16 Syria was your merchant by reason of the multitude of your handiworks: they traded for your wares with emeralds, purple, and embroidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and rubies.17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were your traffickers: they traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnith, and pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.18 Damascus was your merchant for the multitude of your handiworks, by reason of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with the wine of Helbon, and white wool,19 and the earthenware wine jars of Izalla, for your wares: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were among your merchandise.20 Dedan was your trafficker in precious cloths for riding.21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they were the merchants of your hand; in lambs, and rams, and goats, in these they were your merchants.22 The traffickers of Sheba and Raamah, they were your traffickers; they traded for your wares with the chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.23 Haran and Canneh and Eden, the traffickers of Sheba, Asshur [and] Chilmad, were your traffickers.24 These were your traffickers in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and embroidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, these were your merchandise.25 The ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise: and you were replenished, and made very glorious in the heart of the seas.26 Your rowers have brought you into great waters: the east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas.27 Your riches, and your wares, your merchandise, your mariners, and your pilots, your caulkers, and the dealers in your merchandise, and all your men of war, who are in you, with all your company which is in the midst of you, will fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your ruin.28 At the sound of the cry of your pilots the suburbs will shake.29 And all who handled the oar, the mariners, [and] all the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships; they will stand on the land,30 and will cause their voice to be heard over you, and will cry bitterly, and will cast up dust on their heads, they will wallow themselves in the ashes:31 and they will make themselves bald for you, and gird them with sackcloth, and they will weep for you in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.32 And in their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you, and lament over you, [saying], Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea?33 When your wares went forth out of the seas, you filled many peoples; you did enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of your riches and of your merchandise.34 In the time that you were broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, your merchandise and all your company fell in the midst of you.35 All the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at you, and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance.36 The merchants among the peoples hiss at you; you have become a terror, and you will nevermore have any being.
