1 "Agora, filho do homem, apanhe uma tabuinha de barro, coloque-a à sua frente e nela desenhe a cidade de Jerusalém.2 Cerque-a então, e erga obras de cerco contra ela; construa uma rampa, monte acampamentos e ponha aríetes ao redor dela.3 Depois apanhe uma panela de ferro, coloque-a como muro de ferro entre você e a cidade e ponha-se de frente para ela. Ela estará cercada, e você a sitiará. Isto será um sinal para a nação de Israel.4 "Deite-se então sobre o seu lado esquerdo e sobre você ponha a iniqüidade da nação de Israel. Você terá que carregar a iniqüidade dela durante o número de dias em que estiver deitado sobre o lado esquerdo.5 Determinei que o número de dias seja equivalente ao número de anos da iniqüidade dela, ou seja, durante trezentos e noventa dias você carregará a iniqüidade da nação de Israel.6 "Terminado esse prazo, deite-se sobre o seu lado direito, e carregue a iniqüidade da nação de Judá,7 durante quarenta dias, tempo que eu determinei para você, um dia para cada ano. Olhe para o cerco de Jerusalém e, com braço desnudo, profetize contra ela.8 Vou amarrá-lo com cordas para que você não possa virar-se de lado enquanto não cumprir os dias da sua aflição.9 "Pegue trigo e cevada, feijão e lentilha, painço e espelta; ponha-os numa vasilha e com eles faça pão para você. Você deverá comê-lo durante os trezentos e noventa dias em que estiver deitado sobre o seu lado.10 Pese duzentos e quarenta gramas do pão por dia e coma-o em horas determinadas.11 Também meça meio litro de água e beba-a em horas determinadas.12 Coma o pão como você comeria um bolo de cevada; asse-o à vista do povo, usando fezes humanas como combustível".13 O Senhor disse: "Desse modo os israelitas comerão sua comida imunda entre as nações para onde eu os expulsar".14 Então eu disse: "Ah! Soberano Senhor! Eu jamais me contaminei. Desde a minha infância até agora, jamais comi qualquer coisa achada morta ou que tivesse sido despedaçada por animais selvagens. Jamais entrou em minha boca qualquer carne impura".15 "Está bem", disse ele, "deixarei que você asse o seu pão em cima de esterco de vaca, e não em cima de fezes humanas. "16 E acrescentou: "Filho do homem, cortarei o suprimento de comida em Jerusalém. O povo comerá com ansiedade comida racionada e beberá com desespero água racionada,17 pois haverá falta de comida e de água. Ficarão chocados ao se verem uns aos outros, e definharão por causa de sua iniqüidade.

1 You also, Son of Man, take for yourself a tile, and lay it before you, and portray on it a city, even Jerusalem:2 and lay siege against it, and build forts against it, and cast up a mound against it; set camps also against it, and plant battering rams against it round about.3 And you take to yourself an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city: and set your face toward it, and it will be besieged, and you will lay siege against it. This will be a sign to the house of Israel.4 Moreover you lie on your left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel on it; [according to] the number of the days that you will lie on it, you will bear their iniquity.5 For I have appointed the years of their iniquity to be to you a number of days, even three hundred and ninety days: so you will bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.6 And again, when you have accomplished these, you will lie on your right side, and will bear the iniquity of the house of Judah: forty days, each day for a year, I have appointed it to you.7 And you will set your face toward the siege of Jerusalem, with your arm uncovered; and you will prophesy against it.8 And, look, I lay bands on you, and you will not turn from one side to the other, until you have accomplished the days of your siege.9 You take also to yourself wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel, and make yourself bread of them; [according to] the number of the days that you will lie on your side, even three hundred and ninety days, you will eat of it.10 And your food which you will eat will be by weight, twenty shekels a day: from time to time you will eat it.11 And you will drink water by measure, the sixth part of a hin: from time to time you will drink.12 And you will eat it as barley cakes, and you will bake it in their sight with dung that comes out of man.13 And Yahweh said, Even thus will the sons of Israel eat their bread unclean, among the nations where I will drive them.14 Then I said, Ah Sovereign Yahweh! Look, my soul has not been polluted; for from my youth up even until now I have not eaten of that which dies of itself, or is torn of beasts; neither has there come contaminated flesh into my mouth.15 Then he said to me, See, I have given you cow's dung for man's dung, and you will prepare your bread on it.16 Moreover he said to me, Son of Man, look, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they will eat bread by weight, and with fearfulness; and they will drink water by measure, and in dismay:17 that they may want bread and water, and be dismayed a man and his brother, and pine away in their iniquity.
