1 No décimo dia do décimo mês do nono ano, a palavra do Senhor veio a mim. Disse ele:2 "Filho do homem, registre esta data, a data de hoje, porque o rei da Babilônia sitiou Jerusalém exatamente neste dia.3 Conte a essa nação rebelde uma parábola e diga-lhes: ‘Assim diz o Soberano Senhor: " ‘Ponha a panela para esquentar; ponha-a para esquentar e coloque água nela.4 Ponha dentro dela pedaços de carne, os melhores pedaços da coxa e da espádua. Encha-a com o melhor desses ossos;5 apanhe o melhor do rebanho. Empilhe lenha debaixo dela para os cozinhar; faça-a ferver a água e cozinhe tudo o que está na panela.6 " ‘Porque assim diz o Soberano Senhor: " ‘Ai da cidade sanguinária, da panela que agora tem uma crosta, cujo resíduo não desaparecerá! Esvazie-a pedaço por pedaço, sem sorteá-los.7 " ‘Pois o sangue que ela derramou está no meio dela: Ela o derramou na rocha nua; não o derramou no chão, onde o pó o cobriria.8 Para atiçar a minha ira e me vingar, pus o sangue dela sobre a rocha nua, para que ele não fosse coberto.9 " ‘Portanto assim diz o Soberano Senhor: " ‘Ai da cidade sanguinária! Eu também farei uma pilha de lenha, uma pilha bem alta.10 Por isso amontoem a lenha e acendam o fogo. Cozinhem bem a carne, misturando os temperos; e reduzam os ossos a cinzas.11 Ponham depois a panela vazia sobre as brasas para que se esquente até que o seu bronze fique incandescente, e as suas impurezas se derretam, e o seu resíduo seja queimado e desapareça.12 Mas ela frustrou todos os esforços; nem o fogo pôde eliminar seu resíduo espesso!13 " ‘Ora, a sua impureza é a lascívia. Como eu desejei purificá-la mas você não quis ser purificada de sua impureza, você não voltará a estar limpa, enquanto não se abrandar a minha ira contra você.14 " ‘Eu, o Senhor, falei. Chegou a hora de eu agir. Não me conterei; não terei piedade, nem voltarei atrás. Você será julgada de acordo com o seu comportamento e com as suas ações, palavra do Soberano Senhor’ ".15 Veio a mim esta palavra do Senhor:16 "Filho do homem, com um único golpe estou para tirar de você o prazer dos seus olhos. Contudo não lamente nem chore nem derrame nenhuma lágrima.17 Não permita que ninguém ouça o seu gemer; não pranteie pelos mortos. Mantenha apertado o seu turbante e as sandálias nos pés; não cubra o rosto nem coma a comida costumeira dos pranteadores".18 Por isso falei de manhã ao povo, e à tarde a minha mulher morreu. No dia seguinte fiz o que me havia sido ordenado.19 Então o povo me perguntou: "Você não vai nos dizer que relação essas coisas têm conosco? "20 E eu lhes respondi: "Esta palavra do Senhor veio a mim:21 Diga à nação de Israel: ‘Assim diz o Soberano Senhor: Estou a ponto de profanar o meu santuário, a fortaleza de que vocês se orgulham, o prazer dos seus olhos, o objeto da sua afeição. Os filhos e as filhas que vocês deixaram lá, cairão pela espada.22 E vocês farão o que eu fiz. Vocês não cobrirão o rosto nem comerão a comida costumeira dos pranteadores.23 Vocês manterão os turbantes na cabeça e as sandálias nos pés. Não prantearão nem chorarão, mas irão consumir-se por causa de suas iniqüidades e gemerão uns pelos outros.24 Ezequiel será um sinal para vocês; vocês farão o que ele fez. Quando isso acontecer, vocês saberão que eu sou o Soberano Senhor’.25 "E você, filho do homem, no dia em que eu tirar deles a sua fortaleza, sua alegria e sua glória, o prazer dos seus olhos, e também os seus filhos e as suas filhas, o maior desejo de suas vidas,26 naquele dia um fugitivo virá dar-lhe a notícia.27 Naquela hora sua boca será aberta; você falará com ele e não ficará calado. E assim você será um sinal para eles, e eles saberão que eu sou o Senhor".

1 Again, in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth [day] of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,2 Son of Man, write for yourself the name of the day, [even] of this very same day: the king of Babylon drew close to Jerusalem this very same day.3 And utter a parable to the rebellious house, and say to them, Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh, Set on the cauldron, set it on, and also pour water into it:4 gather its pieces into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.5 Take the choice of the flock, and also pile the bones under it; make it boil well; yes, its bones were boiled in the midst of it.6 Therefore thus says the Sovereign Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city, to the cauldron whose rust is in it, and whose rust has not gone out of it! Take out of it piece after piece; No lot has fallen on it.7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground, to cover it with dust.8 That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood on the bare rock, that it should not be covered.9 Therefore thus says the Sovereign Yahweh: Woe to the bloody city! I also will make the pile great.10 Heap on the wood, make the fire hot, boil well the flesh, and make thick the broth, and let the bones be burned.11 Then set it empty on its coals, that it may be hot, and its bronze may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the rust of it may be consumed.12 It has frustrated the efforts [to clean it]; yet her great rust does not go forth out of her; her rust [does not go forth] by fire.13 In your filthiness is lewdness: because I have cleansed you and you were not cleansed, you will not be cleansed from your filthiness anymore, until I have caused my wrath toward you to rest.14 I, Yahweh, have spoken it: it will come to pass, and I will do it: I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to your ways, and according to your doings, they will judge you, says the Sovereign Yahweh.15 Also the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,16 Son of Man, look, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet you will neither mourn nor weep, neither will your tears run down.17 Sigh, but not aloud, make no mourning for the dead; bind your headtire on you, and put your sandals on your feet, and don't cover your lips, and don't eat the bread of men.18 So I spoke to the people in the morning; and at evening my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.19 And the people said to me, Will you not tell us what these things are to us, that you do so?20 Then I said to them, The word of Yahweh came to me, saying,21 Speak to the house of Israel, Thus says the Sovereign Yahweh: Look, I will profane my sanctuary, the pride of your{+} power, the desire of your{+} eyes, and that which your{+} soul pities; and your{+} sons and your{+} daughters whom you{+} have left behind will fall by the sword.22 And you{+} will do as I have done: you{+} will not cover your{+} lips, nor eat the bread of men.23 And your{+} tires will be on your{+} heads, and your{+} sandals on your{+} feet: you{+} will not mourn nor weep; but you{+} will pine away in your{+} iniquities, and moan one toward another.24 Thus Ezekiel will be to you{+} a sign; according to all that he has done you{+} will do: when this comes, then you{+} will know that I am the Sovereign Yahweh.25 And you, Son of Man, will it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that on which they set their heart, their sons and their daughters,26 that in that day he who escapes will come to you, to cause you to hear it with your ears?27 In that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped, and you will speak, and be mute no more: so you will be a sign to them; and they will know that I am Yahweh.
