1 "You shall not utter a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man, to be a malicious witness.2 You shall not follow a multitude to do evil; nor shall you bear witness in a suit, turning aside after a multitude, so as to pervert justice;3 nor shall you be partial to a poor man in his suit.4 "If you meet your enemy's ox or his ass going astray, you shall bring it back to him.5 If you see the ass of one who hates you lying under its burden, you shall refrain from leaving him with it, you shall help him to lift it up.6 "You shall not pervert the justice due to your poor in his suit.7 Keep far from a false charge, and do not slay the innocent and righteous, for I will not acquit the wicked.8 And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the officials, and subverts the cause of those who are in the right.9 "You shall not oppress a stranger; you know the heart of a stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.10 "For six years you shall sow your land and gather in its yield;11 but the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the wild beasts may eat. You shall do likewise with your vineyard, and with your olive orchard.12 "Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; that your ox and your ass may have rest, and the son of your bondmaid, and the alien, may be refreshed.13 Take heed to all that I have said to you; and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let such be heard out of your mouth.14 "Three times in the year you shall keep a feast to me.15 You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread; as I commanded you, you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, for in it you came out of Egypt. None shall appear before me empty-handed.16 You shall keep the feast of harvest, of the first fruits of your labor, of what you sow in the field. You shall keep the feast of ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in from the field the fruit of your labor.17 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord GOD.18 "You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leavened bread, or let the fat of my feast remain until the morning.19 "The first of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. "You shall not boil a kid in its mother's milk.20 "Behold, I send an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared.21 Give heed to him and hearken to his voice, do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression; for my name is in him.22 "But if you hearken attentively to his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.23 "When my angel goes before you, and brings you in to the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Per'izzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jeb'usites, and I blot them out,24 you shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works, but you shall utterly overthrow them and break their pillars in pieces.25 You shall serve the LORD your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of you.26 None shall cast her young or be barren in your land; I will fulfil the number of your days.27 I will send my terror before you, and will throw into confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.28 And I will send hornets before you, which shall drive out Hivite, Canaanite, and Hittite from before you.29 I will not drive them out from before you in one year, lest the land become desolate and the wild beasts multiply against you.30 Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you are increased and possess the land.31 And I will set your bounds from the Red Sea to the sea of the Philistines, and from the wilderness to the Euphra'tes; for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.32 You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.33 They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against me; for if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you."

1 — Não espalhe notícias falsas e não minta no tribunal para ajudar alguém. 2 Não siga a maioria quando ela faz o que é errado e não dê testemunho falso para ajudar a maioria a torcer a justiça. 3 Não faça injustiça, nem mesmo para favorecer o pobre.

4 — Se você vir o boi ou o jumento do seu inimigo andando perdido, leve-o de volta para ele. 5 Se o jumento dele cair debaixo da carga, não o deixe ali, mas ajude o dono a pôr o animal de pé.

6 — Quando um pobre comparecer ao tribunal, não cometa injustiça contra ele. 7 Não faça acusações falsas, nem condene à morte uma pessoa inocente. Pois eu condenarei aquele que fizer essas coisas más. 8 Não aceite dinheiro para torcer a justiça, pois esse dinheiro faz com que as pessoas fiquem cegas e não vejam o que é direito, prejudicando assim a causa daqueles que são inocentes.

9 — Não maltratem os estrangeiros que moram no meio de vocês. Vocês sabem como eles sofrem por serem estrangeiros, pois vocês foram estrangeiros no Egito.

10 — Durante seis anos você semeará as suas terras e colherá o que elas produzirem. 11 Porém no sétimo ano deixe que a terra descanse e não colha nada que crescer nela. Mas os pobres poderão comer o que crescer ali, e os animais selvagens comerão o que sobrar. Faça isso também com as suas plantações de uvas e de azeitonas.

12 — Trabalhe seis dias por semana, mas no sétimo dia não faça nenhum trabalho para que os seus escravos, os seus animais e os estrangeiros que trabalham para você possam descansar.

13 — Deem atenção a tudo o que eu, o Senhor, tenho dito a vocês. Não façam orações a outros deuses, nem mesmo falem os nomes deles.

14 — Três vezes por ano vocês comemorarão uma festa em minha honra. 15 No mês de abibe, o mês em que vocês saíram do Egito, comemorem a Festa dos Pães sem Fermento como eu ordenei. Durante os sete dias da festa não comam pão feito com fermento. Que ninguém venha me adorar sem trazer uma oferta.

16 — Comemorem a Festa da Colheita logo que vocês começarem a colher o que plantaram.

— Comemorem a Festa das Barracas no outono, quando vocês colherem as uvas e as frutas dos pomares. 17 Três vezes por ano, nessas três festas, todos os homens devem vir adorar a mim, o Senhor Deus.

18 — Quando vocês oferecerem um animal em sacrifício a mim, não me tragam pão feito com fermento. A gordura dos animais mortos nos sacrifícios, durante as minhas festas, deverá ser queimada no mesmo dia.

19 — Todos os anos tragam à casa do Senhor, seu Deus, os primeiros cereais que colherem.

— Não cozinhem um cabrito ou um carneirinho no leite da sua própria mãe .

20 — Eu enviarei um anjo adiante de vocês para protegê-los na viagem e para levá-los ao lugar que lhes preparei. 21 Deem atenção e obedeçam ao anjo. Não se revoltem contra ele, pois ele age em meu nome e não perdoará revoltas. 22 Se vocês lhe obedecerem e fizerem tudo o que ele mandar, eu lutarei contra todos os inimigos de vocês. 23 O meu anjo irá adiante de vocês e os levará até a terra dos amorreus, dos heteus, dos perizeus, dos cananeus, dos heveus e dos jebuseus. E eu destruirei todos esses povos. 24 Não se curvem diante dos deuses deles, nem os adorem, e não sigam os seus costumes religiosos. Destruam os deuses deles e quebrem as colunas do deus Baal. 25 Se vocês adorarem a mim, o Senhor, seu Deus, eu os abençoarei, dando-lhes comida e água, e tirarei de vocês todas as doenças. 26 Na terra de vocês nenhuma mulher terá aborto, nem ficará sem ter filhos. E eu darei a vocês uma vida longa.

27 — Farei com que os povos que são contra vocês tenham medo de mim. Farei com que haja confusão entre os povos contra quem vocês vão lutar e farei com que os inimigos fujam de vocês. 28 Farei com que os seus inimigos fiquem apavorados. E, quando vocês forem avançando, eu expulsarei os heveus, os cananeus e os heteus. 29 Não os expulsarei num ano só; se eu fizesse isso, a terra ficaria deserta, e os animais selvagens se tornariam numerosos demais, prejudicando vocês. 30 Pelo contrário, eu expulsarei esses povos pouco a pouco, até que vocês se tornem mais numerosos e tomem posse da terra. 31 Farei com que os limites da terra de vocês vão desde o golfo de Ácaba até o rio Eufrates e do mar Mediterrâneo até o deserto. Eu lhes darei poder para dominarem os povos daquelas terras, e vocês irão avançando e os expulsando. 32 Não façam nenhum acordo com eles, nem com os seus deuses. 33 Não deixem que esses povos vivam na terra de vocês. Se deixarem, eles farão com que vocês pequem contra mim. Se vocês adorarem os deuses deles, isso será uma armadilha mortal para vocês.
