Salmos 18

Cântico de louvor a Deus por ter concedido vitória e domínio

Ao cantor-mor. Salmo de Davi, servo de Jeová, o qual falou a Jeová as palavras deste cântico no dia em que Jeová o livrou de todos os seus inimigos e da mão de Saul. Ele disse:

1 Com fervor te amo, Jeová, *Sl 59.17força minha.

2 Jeová é a *Sl 18.31,46;28.1;31.3;42.9;71.3;78.15;Dt 32.18;1Sm 2.2minha rocha, a minha *Sl 144.2fortaleza e o meu *Sl 19.14libertador;

o meu Deus, o meu rochedo em que me refugio;

o meu *Sl 28.7;33.20;59.11;84.9,11;Pv 30.5escudo, o meu Salvador poderoso, meu alto *Sl 59.9refúgio.

3 Invocando a Jeová, que é *Sl 48.1;96.4;145.3digno de ser louvado,

dos meus inimigos sou *Sl 34.6salvo.

4 Rodearam-me *Sl 116.3cordas de morte,

e *Sl 69.2;124.3-4torrentes de perdição me amedrontaram.

5 Cercaram-me *Sl 116.3cordas do Sheol,

laços de morte me sobrevieram.

6 Na minha *Sl 50.15;120.1angústia, invoquei a Jeová

e clamei por socorro ao meu Deus.

Ele ouviu, *Sl 3.4do seu templo, a minha voz,

e o *Sl 34.15clamor que lhe fiz entrou nos seus ouvidos.

7 Abalou-se, então, *Sl 68.7-8;Jz 5.4;Is 13.13;Ag 2.6a terra e tremeu;

também os *Sl 114.4,6fundamentos dos montes se moveram

e se abalaram, porque se acendeu a sua ira.

8 Subiu fumaça dos seus narizes,

e *Sl 50.3fogo devorador saiu da sua boca;

dele saíram brasas ardentes.

9 Ele *Sl 114.5abaixou os céus e desceu,

tendo debaixo dos seus pés *Sl 97.2densa escuridão.

10 Montou num *Sl 80.1;99.1querubim e voou;

sim, voou velozmente sobre as *Sl 104.3asas do vento.

11 Fez das *Dt 4.11trevas o seu retiro secreto, seu pavilhão ao redor de si;

escuridade de águas, espessas nuvens dos céus.

12 Do *Sl 104.2resplendor que diante dele havia saíam, pelas suas espessas nuvens,

saraiva e *Sl 140.10;Hc 3.5carvão de fogo.

13 Então, Jeová *Sl 29.3;104.7trovejou nos céus;

e o Altíssimo fez soar a sua voz:

saraiva e carvões de fogo.

14 *Sl 144.6;Hc 3.11Enviou as suas setas e os dispersou;

amiudados raios, e os conturbou.

15 Então, apareceu o *Sl 106.9leito das águas,

e foram descobertos os fundamentos do mundo

pela tua *Sl 76.6repreensão, Jeová,

pelo *Sl 18.8sopro dos ventos dos teus narizes.

16 Ele *Sl 144.7estendeu lá do alto o braço, me tomou

e me tirou das *Sl 32.6muitas águas.

17 *Sl 59.1Livrou-me do meu inimigo forte

e dos que me odiaram, porque foram *Sl 35.10;142.6mais poderosos que eu.

18 Eles me acometeram no *Sl 59.16dia da minha calamidade,

mas *Sl 16.8Jeová tornou-se o meu amparo.

19 Ele me tirou para um lugar *Sl 4.1;31.8;118.5espaçoso;

livrou-me, porque tinha *Sl 37.23;41.11prazer em mim.

20 *Sl 7.8;Jó 33.26Recompensou-me Jeová segundo a minha retidão,

retribuiu-me segundo a *Sl 24.4;Jó 22.30pureza das minhas mãos.

21 Pois tenho *Sl 37.34;119.33;Pv 8.32guardado o caminho de Jeová

e não me tenho apartado *2Cr 34.33;Sl 119.102impiamente do meu Deus.

22 Porque todos os seus *Sl 119.30juízos estão diante de mim,

e não afasto de mim os seus *Sl 119.83estatutos.

23 Fui *Sl 18.32perfeito para com ele

e me *Sl 19.12-13;25.11;66.18guardei da iniquidade.

24 Por isso, Jeová me *Sl 18.20retribuiu segundo a minha retidão,

segundo a pureza das minhas mãos, aos seus olhos.

25 Com o *Sl 62.12;Mt 5.7benigno, te mostrarás benigno;

com o homem perfeito, te *Sl 18.20mostrarás perfeito;

26 com o puro, te mostrarás *Jó 25.5;Hc 1.13puro;

com o perverso, *Lv 26.23-24;Pv 3.34te mostrarás contrário.

27 Porque tu *Sl 72.12salvarás ao povo humilde,

mas os olhos *Sl 101.5;Pv 6.17altivos, tu os abaterás.

28 Pois tu *1Rs 15.4;Jó 18.6;Sl 132.17acendes a minha lâmpada;

Jeová, meu Deus, é quem *Sl 27.1alumia as minhas trevas.

29 Pois, com o teu auxílio, *Sl 118.10-12dou numa tropa;

com o auxílio do meu Deus, *Sl 18.33;40.2salto uma muralha.

30 Quanto a Deus, *Sl 19.7;145.17perfeito é o seu caminho;

a *Sl 12.6palavra de Jeová é provada.

Ele é *Sl 91.4escudo para todos os que nele se refugiam.

31 Pois *Sl 86.8-10;Is 45.5quem é Deus a não ser Jeová?

E quem é *Sl 18.2;62.2;Dt 32.31rocha, senão o nosso Deus?

32 O Deus que me *Sl 18.39;Is 45.5veste de força

e torna *Sl 18.23perfeito o meu caminho.

33 Ele *Hc 3.19faz os meus pés como os das corças

e me coloca em pé em meus lugares altos.

34 Ele *Sl 144.1adestra as minhas mãos para a peleja,

a ponto de *Jó 29.20vergarem os meus braços um arco de bronze.

35 Deste-me também os *Sl 33.20escudos da minha salvação;

a tua *Sl 63.8;119.117direita me susteve,

e a tua *Sl 138.6condescendência me engrandeceu.

36 *Sl 18.33Alargaste os meus passos diante de mim,

e não resvalaram os meus *Sl 66.9pés.

37 *Sl 44.5Persegui os meus inimigos e os alcancei;

não voltei até *Sl 37.20haver acabado com eles.

38 Dei neles até que *Sl 36.12não puderam levantar-se;

caíram *Sl 47.3debaixo dos meus pés.

39 Pois me *Sl 18.32cingiste de força para a peleja;

*Sl 18.47submeteste-me os que se levantaram contra mim.

40 Também fizeste que os meus inimigos me *Sl 21.12dessem as costas.

E, quanto aos que me odeiam, eu os *Sl 94.23exterminei.

41 gritaram por socorro, porém não houve *Sl 50.22quem os salvasse;

Gritaram a Jeová, mas *Jó 27.9;Pv 1.28ele não lhes respondeu.

42 Então, os esmiucei como o *Sl 83.13pó diante do vento,

lancei-os fora como a lama das ruas.

43 Livraste-me das *Sl 35.1;2Sm 3.1;2Sm 19.9contendas do povo;

fizeste-me *Sl 89.27cabeça das nações.

Um *Is 55.5povo, que não conheci, me serviu.

44 Mal ouviram, logo me prestaram obediência;

os estrangeiros a mim se *Sl 66.3submeteram.

45 Os estrangeiros *Sl 37.2sumiram-se

e *Mq 7.17saíram tremendo das suas fortificações.

46 *Jó 19.25Vive Jeová, e bendita seja a *Sl 18.2minha rocha!

E exaltado seja *Sl 51.14o Deus da minha salvação!

47 O Deus que por mim *Sl 94.1tomou vingança

*Sl 18.43;47.3;144.2e sujeitou povos debaixo de mim.

48 Ele me *Sl 3.7livrou dos meus inimigos.

Tu me *Sl 27.6elevaste acima dos que se levantaram contra mim;

livraste-me do homem *Sl 11.5violento.

49 Portanto, Jeová, eu te *Rm 15.9darei graças entre as nações

e *Sl 108.1cantarei louvores ao teu nome.

50 Pois Jeová dá grande *Sl 21.1livramento ao seu rei,

e usa de benignidade para com o *Sl 28.8seu ungido,

para com Davi e *Sl 89.4sua semente, para sempre.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, the servant of the LORD, who spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: And he said,

1 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.*18.2 my strength: Heb. my rock

3 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.*18.4 ungodly men: Heb. Belial

5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.*18.5 sorrows: or, cords

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.*18.8 out of his nostrils: Heb. by his, etc

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.

10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.

13 The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.

14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.*18.16 many: or, great

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.

18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.

23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.*18.23 before: Heb. with

24 Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.*18.24 in…: Heb. before his eyes

25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;

26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.*18.26 shew thyself froward: or, wrestle

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.*18.28 candle: or, lamp

29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.*18.29 run…: or, broken

30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.*18.30 tried: or, refined

31 For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.

34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.

35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.*18.35 thy gentleness…: or, with thy meekness thou hast multiplied me

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.*18.36 my feet: Heb. mine ankles

37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.

39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.*18.39 subdued: Heb. caused to bow

40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.

41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.

42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.

43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.

48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.*18.48 violent…: Heb. man of violence

49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.*18.49 give…: or, confess

50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
