1 *Compadece-te de mim, ó Deus, segundo a tua benignidade;

*segundo a multidão das tuas ternas misericórdias, *apaga as minhas transgressões.

2 *Lava-me completamente da minha iniquidade

*e purifica-me do meu pecado.

3 Pois as minhas transgressões, eu as *reconheço;

e o meu pecado está sempre diante de mim.

4 *Contra ti, contra ti só, pequei

e fiz o que é *mal diante dos teus olhos,

para *que sejas justificado quando falares,

e puro quando julgares.

5 Eis que fui *nascido em iniquidade,

e em pecado me concebeu minha mãe.

6 Eis que desejas *a verdade no íntimo

e, no oculto, me *farás conhecer a sabedoria.

7 Expurga-me com *hissopo, e ficarei limpo;

lava-me, e ficarei *mais branco que a neve.

8 Faze-me ouvir *gozo e alegria,

para que se regozijem os *ossos que esmagaste.

9 *Esconde dos meus pecados o teu rosto

e apaga todas as minhas iniquidades.

10 *Cria em mim, ó Deus, *um coração limpo

e renova, dentro de mim, um espírito *estável.

11 *Não me lances fora da tua presença

e não tires de mim o *teu Santo Espírito.

12 Restitui-me a *alegria da minha salvação

e sustenta-me com um *espírito voluntário.

13 *Ensinarei aos transgressores os teus caminhos,

e os pecadores *se converterão a ti.

14 Livra-me dos *crimes de sangue, ó Deus, *Deus da minha salvação,

*e a minha língua cantará a tua justiça.

15 *Senhor, abre os meus lábios,

e a minha boca *manifestará o teu louvor.

16 Pois tu não te *comprazes em sacrifícios; do contrário, eu to ofereceria;

não te deleitas em holocaustos.

17 Os sacrifícios a Deus são o espírito *quebrantado;

ao coração quebrantado e contrito, ó Deus, tu não o desprezarás.

18 *Faze o bem a Sião, segundo a tua boa vontade;

*edifica os muros de Jerusalém.

19 Então, te deleitarás com *os sacrifícios de retidão, com *holocaustos e com ofertas queimadas;

então, se oferecerão novilhos sobre o teu altar.

1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.*

6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.*

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.*

15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.*

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
