A assolação de Jerusalém e a súplica de socorro

1 Ó Deus, *Lm 1.10as nações entraram *Sl 74.2na tua herança;

profanaram *Sl 74.3,7o teu santo templo,

*2Rs 25.9-10;Jr 26.18;Mq 3.12reduziram Jerusalém a ruínas.

2 Deram *Dt 28.26;Jr 7.33;16.4;19.7;34.20os cadáveres dos teus servos para servirem de pasto às aves do céu,

a carne dos teus santos, aos animais da terra.

3 Derramaram como água o sangue deles em redor de Jerusalém,

e não havia *Jr 14.16;16.4quem lhes desse sepultura.

4 Somos *Sl 44.13;80.6;Dn 9.16feitos o opróbrio dos nossos vizinhos,

o escárnio e a zombaria dos que nos rodeiam.

5 *Sl 13.1;74.1,10;85.5;89.46Até quando, Jeová, estarás tu sempre irado?

Arderá o *Dt 29.20;Ez 36.5;38.19teu zelo *Sl 89.46como fogo?

depressa nos venham *Sl 21.3ao encontro as tuas ternas misericórdias,

1 O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.*79.1 of: or, for

2 The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3 Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

5 How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6 Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

7 For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

8 O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.*79.8 former…: or, the iniquities of them that were before us

9 Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
