1 O pecado de Judá está escrito com um ponteiro de ferro e com a ponta dum diamante; gravado está na tábua do seu coração e nos chifres dos vossos altares;2 enquanto os seus filhos se lembram dos seus altares, e dos seus aserins junto às árvores frondosas sobre os altos outeiros.3 Ó meu monte que te elevas sobre o campo, a tua substância e todos os teus tesouros, bem como os teus altos, dá-los-ei como despojo por causa do pecado, em todos os teus termos.4 Tu abandonarás a tua herança que te dei; e farei que sirvas aos teus inimigos na terra que não conheces; porque ateaste um fogo na minha ira, o qual arderá para sempre.5 Assim diz Jeová: Maldito é o homem que confia no homem, e põe a carne por seu braço, e cujo coração se desvia de Jeová.6 Porque será como o junípero no deserto, e não verá quando vier o bem; mas habitará nos lugares áridos do ermo, numa terra de salsugem e despovoada.7 Bendito é o homem que confia em Jeová, e de quem Jeová é a confiança.8 Porque será como a árvore plantada junto às águas, que estende as suas raízes à margem dum ribeiro; não temerá quando vier o calor, mas a sua folha será verde; no ano de seca não andará cuidadoso, nem deixará de dar fruto.9 Enganoso é o coração acima de todas as coisas, e gravemente enfermo; quem o poderá conhecer?10 Eu, Jeová, esquadrinho o coração, provo os rins, para dar a cada um segundo os seus caminhos, segundo o fruto dos seus feitos.11 Como a perdiz que ajunta pintainhos que não são do seu ninho, assim é o que ajunta riquezas, porém não com direito; no meio dos seus dias as deixará, e no seu fim se mostrará insensato.12 Um trono de glória, exaltado desde o princípio, é o lugar do nosso santuário.13 Ó Jeová, esperança de Israel, todos os que te abandonarem, serão envergonhados; os que se desviarem de ti, serão escritos sobre a terra, porque abandonaram a Jeová, fonte das águas vivas.14 Cura-me, Jeová, e serei curado; salva-me, e serei salvo: porque tu és o meu louvor.15 Eis que eles me dizem: Onde está a palavra de Jeová? que venha agora.16 Quanto a mim, não me apressei em deixar de ser pastor após ti, nem tão pouco desejei o dia calamitoso; tu sabes: o que saiu dos meus lábios foi diante da tua face.17 Não me sejas motivo de pavor; meu refúgio és tu no dia da calamidade.18 Sejam envergonhados os que me perseguem, porém não seja eu envergonhado; assombrem-se eles, porém não me assombre eu: faze vir sobre eles o dia da calamidade, e quebra-os com dobrado quebrantamento.19 Assim me disse Jeová: Vai, e põe-te na porta dos filhos do povo, pela qual entram os reis de Judá, e pela qual saem, como também em todas as portas de Jerusalém;20 e dize-lhes: Ouvi a palavra de Jeová, reis de Judá, e todo Judá, e todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, que entrais por estas portas.21 Assim diz Jeová: Guardai-vos a vós mesmos, e não queirais trazer cargas no dia do sábado, nem as introduzais pelas portas de Jerusalém;22 nem das vossas casas tireis cargas no dia do sábado, nem façais trabalho algum; antes santificai o dia do sábado, como ordenei a vossos pais.23 Porém não escutaram nem inclinaram os seus ouvidos, mas endureceram a sua cerviz, para não me ouvirem, para não receberem instruções.24 Se diligentemente me ouvirdes, diz Jeová, para não introduzirdes cargas pelas portas desta cidade no dia do sábado, mas para santificardes o dia do sábado, sem fazerdes nele trabalho algum;25 pelas portas desta cidade entrarão reis e príncipes que se assentarão sobre o trono de Davi, e andarão em carros e montados em cavalos, eles e os seus príncipes, os homens de Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém: e esta cidade permanecerá para sempre.26 Virão das cidades de Judá, e dos contornos de Jerusalém, e da terra de Benjamim, e da planície, e da região montanhosa, e do Neguebe, trazendo à casa de Jeová holocaustos, e sacrifícios, e oblações, e incenso, trazendo também sacrifícios de ação de graças.27 Se, porém, não me ouvirdes para santificardes o dia do sábado, e para no dia do sábado cessardes de trazer carga e entrar com ela pelas portas de Jerusalém; acenderei fogo nas portas dela, fogo que devorará os palácios de Jerusalém e não se apagará.

1 Jehovah says: Judah's sin is written with an iron pen. It is engraved with a diamond point on the tablet of their hearts and on the horns strengthauthority of their altars.2 Even their children remember their altars and their poles images dedicated to the goddess Asherah beside large trees on high hills3 and on mountains in the open country. I will turn your wealth and all your treasures into loot. I will do this because of your worship sites and your sin throughout all your territory.4 You will lose the inheritance that I gave you. I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you have not heard of. I will do this because you have stirred up the fire of my anger. It will burn for a very long time.5 This is what Jehovah says: »Cursed is the person who trusts humans, who makes flesh and blood his strength and whose heart turns away from Jehovah.6 »He will be like a bush in the desert and will not see when prosperity comes. He will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, a land of salt without inhabitant.7 »Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah, whose refuge and security confidence and hope is Jehovah.8 »For he will be like a tree planted by the water. It extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes. Its leaves will be green. It will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit.9 »The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately corrupt. Who can understand it?10 »I, Jehovah, search the heart and examine the mind inner man. I give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.11 »A person who gets rich dishonestly is like a partridge that hatches eggs it did not lay. During his lifetime, he will lose his wealth. In the end, he will be a wicked fool.«12 From the very beginning our sanctuary was a glorious throne on high.13 You will put to shame all that forsake you, O Jehovah, the hope of Israel. Those who turn away on earth will be written down, for they have forsaken Jehovah, the fountain of living water.14 Heal me, O Jehovah, and I will be healed! Save me and I will be saved! For you are my song of praise.15 Look, they keep saying to me: Where is the word of Jehovah? Let it come now!16 I have not hurried away from being your shepherd. I have not longed for the day of destruction. You know what I used to say.17 Do not cause me fear and anxiety. For you are my refuge in the day of disaster.18 Let those who persecute me be put to shame. Do not let me be put to shame. Let them be dismayed, but let me not be dismayed. Bring on them a day of disaster. Crush them with twofold destruction!19 Jehovah said to me: »Go and stand in the public gate, through which the kings of Judah come in and go out, as well as in all the gates of Jerusalem.20 Say to them: »Listen to the word of Jehovah, kings of Judah, and all Judah and all inhabitants of Jerusalem who come in through these gates:21 »Jehovah says: ‘Take heed for yourselves, and do not carry any load on the Sabbath day or bring anything in through the gates of Jerusalem.22 »You shall not bring a load out of your houses on the Sabbath day nor do any work. You should keep the Sabbath day holy, as I commanded your forefathers.23 »Yet they did not listen or incline their ears. They stiffened their necks in order not to listen or take correction.24 »But it will come about, if you listen attentively to me, declares Jehovah, to bring no load in through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but to keep the Sabbath day holy by doing no work on it,25 then there will come in through the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on the throne of David. They will ride in chariots and on horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. This city will be inhabited for a very long time.26 »They will come in from the cities of Judah and from the environs of Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, from the lowland, from the hill country and from the Negev. They will bring burnt offerings, sacrifices, grain offerings and incense. They will also bring sacrifices of thanksgiving to the house of Jehovah.27 »If you do not listen to me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load and coming in through the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will kindle a fire in its gates and it will devour the palaces of Jerusalem. And it will not be quenched.« ’«
