Abrão volta do Egito e separa-se de Ló

1 Saiu do Egito Abrão com sua mulher e com tudo o que tinha, e Ló, com ele, para o *Gn 12.9Neguebe. 2 Abrão era muito rico em gado, em prata e em ouro. 3 Fez as suas jornadas do Neguebe até Betel, até o lugar onde primeiro estivera a sua tenda, *Gn 12.8entre Betel e Ai, 4 até o lugar do altar, que dantes ali havia feito; ali, invocou Abrão o nome de Jeová. 5 *Gn 12.5Ló também, que ia com Abrão, tinha rebanhos, gado e tendas. 6 *Gn 36.7A terra não podia sustentá-los, de maneira que habitassem juntos, *Gn 12.5,16;13.2porque eram muitos os seus bens; de modo que não podiam habitar juntos. 7 Houve *Gn 26.20contenda entre os pastores do gado de Abrão e os pastores do gado de Ló; naquele tempo, habitavam *Gn 12.6;15.19-21os cananeus e os ferezeus na terra. 8 *Pv 15.18;20.3Disse Abrão a Ló: Não haja contenda entre mim e ti, e entre os meus pastores e os teus, porque somos irmãos. 9 Porventura, não está toda a terra diante de ti? Rogo-te que te apartes de mim: se tu fores para a esquerda, eu irei para a direita; porém, se tu fores para a direita, eu irei para a esquerda. 10 Ló levantou os olhos e viu toda a *Gn 19.17-29;Dt 34.3planície do Jordão, e que era toda bem regada (antes de haver Jeová destruído Sodoma e Gomorra), como o *Gn 2.8jardim de Jeová, como *Gn 47.6a terra do Egito, até chegar a *Gn 14.8;Dt 34.3Zoar. 11 Assim Ló escolheu para si toda a planície do Jordão e partiu para o oriente; apartaram-se um do outro. 12 Habitou Abrão na terra de Canaã, e Ló, nas *Gn 14.2;19.24-25cidades da planície e foi armando a sua tenda até chegar a Sodoma. 13 Ora, os homens de Sodoma eram maus e *Gn 39.9;Nm 32.23;2Pe 2.7-8grandes pecadores contra Jeová.

Jeová promete-lhe a terra de Canaã

14 Disse Jeová a Abrão, depois que Ló se separou dele: *Dt 3.27;34.1-4Levanta, agora, os olhos, e desde o lugar onde estás olha para o norte, para o sul, para o oriente e para o ocidente; 15 *Gn 12.7porque toda essa terra que vês *Gn 13.17;15.7-8;17.8te hei de dar a ti e à tua semente, para sempre. 16 Farei a tua semente *Gn 16.10;28.14;Nm 23.10como o pó da terra; de maneira que se alguém poder contar o pó da terra, então, também poderá ser contada a tua semente. 17 Levanta-te, *Nm 13.17-24percorre essa terra no seu comprimento e na sua largura: porque *Gn 13.15a hei de dar a ti. 18 Abrão mudou a sua tenda e foi habitar perto dos terebintos de *Gn 14.13Manre, que está em Hebrom, e ali edificou um *Gn 8.20;12.7-8altar a Jeová.

1 Abram went up out of Egypt—he, his wife, all that he had, and Lot with him—into the South. 2 Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold. 3 He went on his journeys from the South as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai, 4 to the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first. There Abram called on Yahweh’s name. 5 Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, herds, and tents. 6 The land was not able to bear them, that they might live together; for their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together. 7 There was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites lived in the land at that time. 8 Abram said to Lot, "Please, let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are relatives. 9 Isn’t the whole land before you? Please separate yourself from me. If you go to the left hand, then I will go to the right. Or if you go to the right hand, then I will go to the left."

10 Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw all the plain of the Jordan, that it was well-watered everywhere, before Yahweh destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, like the garden of Yahweh, like the land of Egypt, as you go to Zoar. 11 So Lot chose the Plain of the Jordan for himself. Lot traveled east, and they separated themselves from one another. 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, and Lot lived in the cities of the plain, and moved his tent as far as Sodom. 13 Now the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinners against Yahweh.

14 Yahweh said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, "Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, 15 for I will give all the land which you see to you and to your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can count the dust of the earth, then your offspring may also be counted. 17 Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its width; for I will give it to you."

18 Abram moved his tent, and came and lived by the oaks of Mamre, which are in Hebron, and built an altar there to Yahweh.
