A corrupção do gênero humano

1 Quando os homens começaram a multiplicar-se sobre a terra e lhes nasceram filhas, 2 viram os filhos de Deus que as filhas dos homens eram formosas e tomaram para si mulheres de todas as que escolheram. 3 Então, disse Jeová: *1Pe 3.20O meu Espírito não permanecerá para sempre no homem; por causa do seu errar, é ele carne; portanto, os seus dias serão cento e vinte anos. 4 Ora, naqueles dias, estavam os nefilins na terra e também depois, quando os filhos de Deus conheceram as filhas dos homens, as quais lhes deram filhos. Os nefilins eram os valentes que houve na antiguidade, varões de renome.

5 Viu Jeová que era grande a maldade do homem na terra e que *Gn 8.21;Sl 14.1-3toda a imaginação dos pensamentos do seu coração era má continuamente. 6 Então, *Jr 18.7-10se arrependeu Jeová de ter feito o homem na terra, e pesou-lhe em seu coração. 7 Disse Jeová: *Dt 28.63;29.20Farei desaparecer da face da terra o homem que criei, desde o homem até o animal, até os répteis e até as aves do céu; porque *Am 7.3,6me arrependo de os haver feito. 8 Porém Noé *Êx 33.17achou graça aos olhos de Jeová.

9 Estas são as gerações de Noé. Noé foi *Sl 37.39um homem justo e *Gn 17.1;Dt 18.13;Jó 1.1perfeito nas suas gerações; Noé *Gn 5.24andou com Deus. 10 Gerou três filhos: Sem, Cam e Jafé. 11 A terra estava *Dt 31.29;Jz 2.19corrompida diante de Deus e *Ez 8.17cheia de violência. 12 Viu Deus a terra, e eis que estava corrompida; porque *Sl 14.1-3toda a carne tinha corrompido o seu caminho sobre a terra.

Deus anuncia o dilúvio

13 Disse Deus a Noé: *Is 34.1-4;Ez 7.2-3Hei resolvido dar cabo de toda a carne, porque a terra está cheia da violência dos homens; eis que eu os farei perecer juntamente com a terra. 14 Faze para ti uma arca de madeira de gofer; compartimentos farás na arca e untá-la-ás com betume por dentro e por fora. 15 Desta maneira a farás: o comprimento da arca será de trezentos cúbitos, a sua largura, de cinquenta e a sua altura, de trinta. 16 Farás para a arca uma janela e lhe darás um cúbito de alto; a porta da arca porás no seu lado; fa-la-ás com andares, um embaixo, um segundo e um terceiro. 17 Eis que eu vou trazer o dilúvio de águas sobre a terra, para fazer perecer de debaixo do céu toda a carne, em que há o espírito de vida; tudo o que há na terra morrerá. 18 Porém, contigo estabelecerei a *Gn 9.9-16;17.7minha aliança; *Gn 7.7entrarás na arca, tu com teus filhos, tua mulher e as mulheres de teus filhos. 19 *Gn 7.2,14-15De tudo o que vive de toda a carne, dois de cada espécie farás entrar na arca, para os conservar vivos contigo; macho e fêmea serão. 20 *Gn 7.3Das aves segundo as suas espécies, do gado segundo as suas espécies, e de todo o réptil da terra segundo as suas espécies, dois de cada espécie virão a ti, para os conservares em vida. 21 Leva contigo de tudo o que se come e ajunta-o para ti; ser-te-á para alimento, a ti e a eles. 22 *Gn 7.5Assim fez Noé; segundo tudo o que Deus lhe ordenou, assim o fez.

1 When men began to multiply on the surface of the ground, and daughters were born to them, 2 God’s sons saw that men’s daughters were beautiful, and they took any that they wanted for themselves as wives. 3 Yahweh said, "My Spirit will not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; so his days will be one hundred twenty years." 4 The Nephilim*6:4 or, giants were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when God’s sons came in to men’s daughters and had children with them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

5 Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of man’s heart was continually only evil. 6 Yahweh was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart. 7 Yahweh said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the surface of the ground—man, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky—for I am sorry that I have made them." 8 But Noah found favor in Yahweh’s eyes.

9 This is the history of the generations of Noah: Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God. 10 Noah became the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

13 God said to Noah, "I will bring an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them and the earth. 14 Make a ship of gopher wood. You shall make rooms in the ship, and shall seal it inside and outside with pitch. 15 This is how you shall make it. The length of the ship shall be three hundred cubits,*6:15 A cubit is the length from the tip of the middle finger to the elbow on a man’s arm, or about 18 inches or 46 centimeters. its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 You shall make a roof in the ship, and you shall finish it to a cubit upward. You shall set the door of the ship in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third levels. 17 I, even I, will bring the flood of waters on this earth, to destroy all flesh having the breath of life from under the sky. Everything that is in the earth will die. 18 But I will establish my covenant with you. You shall come into the ship, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 Of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ship, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, of the livestock after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every sort will come to you, to keep them alive. 21 Take with you some of all food that is eaten, and gather it to yourself; and it will be for food for you, and for them." 22 Thus Noah did. He did all that God commanded him.
