O plano para tirar a vida a Jesus

1 *vd.Mt 7.28Tendo Jesus acabado todo esse discurso, disse a seus discípulos: 2 *Mt 26.2-5;Mc 14.1-2;Lc 22.1-2Sabeis que, de hoje a dois dias, celebrar-se-á *Jo 11.55;13.1a Páscoa; e o Filho do Homem será entregue para ser crucificado. 3 *Jo 11.47Depois, se reuniram os principais sacerdotes e os anciãos do povo no *Mt 26.58,69;Mc 14.54,66;15.16;Lc 11.21;22.55;Jo 18.15; cp.Mt 27.27pátio da casa do sumo sacerdote, chamado *Mt 26.57;Lc 3.2;Jo 11.49;18.13-14,24,28;At 4.6Caifás, 4 e *vd.Mt 12.14deliberaram prender a Jesus à traição e tirar-lhe a vida. 5 Mas diziam: Durante a festa, não, *Mt 27.24para que não haja tumulto entre o povo.

Jesus ungido em Betânia

6 *Mt 26.6-13;Mc 14.3-9; cp.Jo 12.1-8;Lc 7.37-39Estando Jesus em *vd.Mt 21.7Betânia, na casa de Simão, o leproso, 7 chegou-se a ele uma mulher que trazia um vaso de alabastro com precioso perfume e lho derramou sobre a cabeça, quando ele estava à mesa. 8 Vendo isso, seus discípulos indignaram-se e disseram: 9 Para que este desperdício? Pois o perfume podia ser vendido por muito dinheiro e ser este dado aos pobres. 10 Mas Jesus, percebendo isso, disse-lhes: Por que molestais essa mulher? Ela me fez uma boa obra. 11 Pois *Mc 14.7;Jo 12.8;Dt 15.11os pobres, sempre os tendes convosco, mas a mim nem sempre me tendes; 12 derramando ela este perfume sobre o meu corpo, fê-lo *vd.Jo 19.40para a minha sepultura. 13 Em verdade vos digo *Mc 14.9que, onde quer que for pregado em todo o mundo este evangelho, será também contado para memória sua o que ela fez.

O pacto da traição

14 *Mt 26.14-16;Mc 14.10-11;Lc 22.3-6Então, um dos doze, chamado *Mt 10.4;26.25,47;Mt 27.3;Jo 6.71;12.4;13.26;At 1.16Judas Iscariotes, procurou os principais sacerdotes 15 e lhes disse: Que me quereis dar, e eu vo-lo entregarei? *cp.Zc 11.12;Êx 21.32Eles lhe pesaram trinta moedas de prata. 16 Desde então, Judas buscava oportunidade para o entregar.

Os discípulos preparam a Páscoa

17 *Mt 26.17-19;Mc 14.12-16;Lc 22.7-13No primeiro dia dos *Êx 12.18-20Pães Asmos, vieram os discípulos a Jesus perguntar-lhe: Onde queres que façamos os preparativos para comeres a Páscoa? 18 Respondeu-lhes: Ide à cidade ter com *Mc 14.13;Lc 22.10certo homem e dizei-lhe que o Mestre diz: *cp.Jo 7.6,8O meu tempo está próximo; em tua casa celebrarei a Páscoa com meus discípulos. 19 Eles fizeram como Jesus lhes havia ordenado, e prepararam a Páscoa.

O traidor é indicado

20 *Mt 26.20-24;Mc 14.17-21À tarde, estava ele sentado à mesa com os doze discípulos. 21 Enquanto comiam, declarou Jesus: *Lc 22.21-23;Jo 13.21s.Em verdade vos digo que um de vós me trairá. 22 Eles, muitíssimo contristados, começaram um por um a perguntar-lhe: Porventura sou eu, Senhor? 23 Ele respondeu: *Jo 13.26; cp.Mt 18O que põe comigo a mão no prato, este é o que me trairá. 24 O Filho do Homem vai-se, *Mt 26.31,54,56;Mc 9.12;Lc 24.25-27,46;At 17.2s.;26.22s.;1Co 15.3;1Pe 1.10s.segundo está escrito a seu respeito, mas ai daquele por quem o Filho do Homem é traído! *Mc 14.21; cp.Mt 18.7Melhor fora para esse homem se não houvesse nascido. 25 *Mt 26.14Judas, que o traiu, perguntou: Porventura sou eu, *vd.Mt 23.7,10Mestre? Respondeu-lhe Jesus: *Mt 26.64;Mt 27.11;Lc 22.70Tu o disseste.

A ceia do Senhor

26 *Mt 26.26-29;Mc 14.22-25;Lc 22.17-20;1Co 11.23-25; cp.1Co 10.16Estando eles comendo, tomou Jesus o pão e, *vd.Mt 14.19tendo dado graças, partiu-o e deu aos discípulos, dizendo: Tomai e comei; este é o meu corpo. 27 Tomando o cálice, rendeu graças e deu-lho, dizendo: Bebei dele todos; 28 porque *cp.Hb 9.20este é o meu sangue, o sangue da aliança, que é derramado por *vd.Mt 20.28muitos para remissão de pecados. 29 Mas digo-vos que, desta hora em diante, não beberei deste fruto da videira, até aquele dia em que o hei de beber, novo, convosco no reino de meu Pai.

Pedro é avisado

31 Então lhes disse Jesus: A todos vós *vd.Mt 11.6;Zc 13.7serei esta noite uma pedra de tropeço, pois está escrito: Ferirei o pastor, e as ovelhas do rebanho *cp.Jo 16.32ficarão dispersas; 32 mas, depois que eu ressuscitar, *Mt 28.7,10,16;Mc 16.7irei adiante de vós para a Galileia. 33 Disse-lhe Pedro: Ainda que sejas para todos uma pedra de tropeço, nunca o serás para mim. 34 Declarou-lhe Jesus: *Jo 13.38;Mt 26.75Em verdade te digo que *cp.Mc 14.30esta noite, antes de cantar o galo, três vezes me negarás. 35 Replicou-lhe Pedro: *Jo 13.37Ainda que me seja necessário morrer contigo, de nenhum modo te negarei. Todos os discípulos disseram o mesmo.

Jesus em Getsêmani

36 *Mt 26.36-46;Mc 14.32-42;Lc 22.40-46Em seguida, foi Jesus com eles a um lugar chamado *Mc 14.32; cp.Lc 22.39;Jo 18.1Getsêmani e disse a seus discípulos: Sentai-vos aqui, enquanto eu vou ali orar. 37 Levando consigo a *Mt 17.1;Mc 5.37; cp.Mt 4.21Pedro e aos dois filhos de Zebedeu, começou a entristecer-se e angustiar-se. 38 Então lhes disse: *Jo 12.27A minha alma está numa tristeza mortal; ficai aqui e *Mt 26.40-41vigiai comigo. 39 Adiantando-se um pouco, prostrou-se com o rosto em terra e orou: Pai meu, se é possível, passe de mim *vd.Mt 20.22este cálice; *Mt 26.42;Mc 14.36;Lc 22.42;Jo 6.38todavia, não seja como eu quero, mas como tu queres. 40 Depois, voltou para seus discípulos e, encontrando-os dormindo, perguntou a Pedro: Nem ao menos *Mt 26.38uma hora pudestes vigiar comigo? 41 Vigiai e orai, para que não entreis em tentação; o *Mc 14.38espírito, na verdade, está pronto, mas a carne é fraca. 42 Tornando a retirar-se, orou: Pai meu, se este cálice não pode passar sem que eu o beba, faça-se a tua vontade. 43 Voltando outra vez, encontrou-os dormindo, porque estavam com os olhos pesados. 44 Deixando-os novamente, foi orar pela terceira vez, repetindo as mesmas palavras. 45 Então, voltou para os discípulos, dizendo-lhes: Agora, dormi e descansai; *Mc 14.41;Jo 12.27;13.1está próxima a hora, e o Filho do Homem está sendo traído nas mãos de pecadores. 46 Levantai-vos, vamo-nos! Pois o que me trai se aproxima.

Jesus é preso

47 *Mt 26.47-56;Mc 14.43-50;Lc 22.47-53;Jo 18.3-11Enquanto ele ainda falava, chegou *Mt 26.14Judas, um dos doze, e, com ele, uma grande multidão armada de espadas e varapaus, enviada pelos principais sacerdotes e pelos anciãos do povo. 48 O traidor lhes havia dado um sinal, dizendo: Aquele a quem eu beijar, esse é que é; prendei-o. 49 No mesmo instante, chegou-se a Jesus e disse: Salve, *vd.Mt 23.7;26.25Mestre! E o beijou. 50 Jesus perguntou-lhe: *Mt 20.13;22.12Amigo, a que vieste? Nisto se aproximou a escolta e, pondo as mãos em Jesus, prendeu-o. 51 *cp.Jo 18.10;Mc 14.47;Lc 22.50Um dos que estavam com Jesus estendeu a mão, puxou da *Lc 22.38espada e, dando um golpe no servo do sumo sacerdote, decepou-lhe uma orelha. 52 Então, Jesus lhe disse: Embainha a tua espada *cp.Gn 9.6;Ap 13.10pois todos os que tomam a espada morrerão à espada. 53 Acaso pensas que não posso rogar a meu Pai, e que ele não me mandará neste momento mais de doze *cp.Mc 5.9,15;Lc 8.30legiões de *cp.Mt 4.11anjos? 54 Como, pois, *Mt 26.24se cumpririam as Escrituras, que dizem que assim deve acontecer? 55 Naquela hora, disse Jesus à multidão: Viestes armados de espadas e varapaus para me prender, como se eu fora salteador? Todos os dias, *cp.Mc 12.35;14.49;Lc 4.20;19.47;20.1;21.37;Jo 7.14,28;8.2,20;18.20sentado no templo, eu ensinava, e não me prendestes. 56 Mas tudo isso aconteceu para que se cumprissem as Escrituras dos profetas. Então, todos os discípulos o deixaram e fugiram.

Jesus perante o Sinédrio

57 *Mt 26.57-68;Mc 14.53-65;Jo 18.12-13,19-24Aqueles que tinham prendido a Jesus levaram-no à casa *Mt 26.3de Caifás, sumo sacerdote, onde se haviam reunido os escribas e os anciãos. 58 *cp.Jo 18.15Pedro, porém, o ia seguindo de longe até *Mt 26.3o pátio da casa do sumo sacerdote e, entrando, sentou-se entre *Mt 5.25;Jo 7.32,45s.;18.3, etc.;19.6;At 5.22,26os oficiais de justiça para ver o fim. 59 Os principais sacerdotes e todo o *vd.Mt 5.22Sinédrio buscavam algum falso testemunho contra Jesus, para o entregarem à morte; 60 e não o acharam, não obstante se terem apresentado muitas testemunhas falsas. Mas, afinal, compareceram *Dt 19.15duas, afirmando: 61 Ele disse: *Mt 27.40;Mc 14.53;15.29;Jo 2.19; cp.At 6.14Posso destruir o santuário de Deus e reedificá-lo em três dias. 62 Levantando-se o sumo sacerdote, perguntou: Nada respondes? Que é o que estes depõem contra ti? 63 Jesus, porém, *Mt 27.12,14;Jo 19.9conservou-se calado. *Mt 26.63-66; cp.Lc 22.67-71O sumo sacerdote disse-lhe: *Lv 5.1Eu te conjuro *vd.Mt 16.16pelo Deus vivo que nos digas se tu és o Cristo, *vd.Mt 4.3o Filho de Deus. 64 Respondeu Jesus: *Mt 26.25Tu o disseste; contudo, vos declaro que vereis mais tarde o Filho do Homem sentado à direita do Todo-Poderoso e *vd.Mt 16.27s.vindo sobre as nuvens do céu. 65 Então, o sumo sacerdote *Mc 14.63;Nm 14.6;At 14.14rasgou as suas vestes, dizendo: Blasfemou! Acabais de ouvir agora mesmo a blasfêmia. 66 Que vos parece? Responderam eles: *Lv 24.16;Jo 19.7É réu de morte. 67 *Mt 26.67-68; cp.Lc 22.63-65;Jo 18.22Então, uns lhe *Mt 27.30;Mc 10.34cuspiram no rosto e lhe deram punhadas, e outros o esbofetearam, 68 dizendo: *Mc 14.65;Lc 22.64Adivinha-nos, ó Cristo, quem é o que te deu?

Pedro nega a Jesus

69 *Mt 26.69-75;Mc 14.66-72;Lc 22.55-62;Jo 18.16-18,25-27Entretanto, Pedro estava sentado fora *Mt 26.3no pátio; e uma criada, aproximando-se, disse-lhe: Também tu estavas com Jesus, o galileu. 70 Mas ele o negou diante de todos, exclamando: Não sei o que dizes. 71 Saindo para o alpendre, uma outra viu-o e disse aos que ali se achavam: Este também estava com Jesus, o nazareno. 72 Outra vez, Pedro o negou com juramento: Não conheço esse homem. 73 Logo depois, se aproximaram de Pedro os que ali estavam e disseram-lhe: Também tu és, certamente, um deles, pois até *Mc 14.70;Lc 22.59; cp.Jo 18.26a tua fala o revela. 74 Então, começou a praguejar e a jurar: Não conheço esse homem. Imediatamente, cantou o galo. 75 Pedro lembrou-se das palavras que Jesus proferira: *Mt 26.34Antes de cantar o galo, três vezes me negarás; e, saindo dali, chorou amargamente.

1 When Jesus had finished all these words, he said to his disciples, 2 "You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified."

3 Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas. 4 They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit and kill him. 5 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people."

6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7 a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. 8 But when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste? 9 For this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor."

10 However, knowing this, Jesus said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? She has done a good work for me. 11 For you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me. 12 For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13 Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her."

14 Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, "What are you willing to give me if I deliver him to you?" So they weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver. 16 From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

17 Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?"

18 He said, "Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Teacher says, "My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples."’"

19 The disciples did as Jesus commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.

20 Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 As they were eating, he said, "Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me."

22 They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, "It isn’t me, is it, Lord?"

23 He answered, "He who dipped his hand with me in the dish will betray me. 24 The Son of Man goes even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born."

25 Judas, who betrayed him, answered, "It isn’t me, is it, Rabbi?"

He said to him, "You said it."

26 As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for*26:26 TR reads "blessed" instead of "gave thanks for" it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." 27 He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, "All of you drink it, 28 for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom."

30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

31 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’✝26:31 Zechariah 13:7 32 But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee."

33 But Peter answered him, "Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble."

34 Jesus said to him, "Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times."

35 Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you." All of the disciples also said likewise.

36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, "Sit here, while I go there and pray." 37 He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled. 38 Then Jesus said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me."

39 He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire."

40 He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

42 Again, a second time he went away and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done."

43 He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words. 45 Then he came to his disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand."

47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who betrayed him had given them a sign, saying, "Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him." 49 Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him.

50 Jesus said to him, "Friend, why are you here?"

Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him. 51 Behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?"

55 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. 56 But all this has happened that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled."

Then all the disciples left him and fled.

57 Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But Peter followed him from a distance to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.
