Imitai a Cristo. A simpatia e o altruísmo

1 Ora, nós que somos fortes, devemos suportar as fraquezas dos *Rm 14.1; cp.Gl 6.2;1Ts 5.14fracos e não agradar a nós mesmos. 2 Cada um de nós *1Co 10.33; cp.9.22;10.24;2Co 13.9agrade ao seu próximo, a fim de lhe fazer o bem para a *Rm 14.19;1Co 10.23;14.3-4,26;2Co 12.19;Ef 4.12,29edificação; 3 porque *2Co 8.9também Cristo não se agradou a si mesmo; antes, como está escrito: *Sl 69.9As injúrias dos que te ultrajavam, caíram sobre mim. 4 Pois *Rm 4.23s.;2Tm 3.16tudo quanto foi escrito anteriormente para o nosso ensino foi escrito, a fim de que, pela paciência e pela consolação das Escrituras, tenhamos esperança. 5 *2Co 1.3O Deus de paciência e consolação vos conceda *Rm 12.16o mesmo sentimento uns para com os outros, segundo Cristo Jesus, 6 para que, unânimes e a uma boca, glorifiqueis ao *Ap 1.6Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo. 7 Por isso, *Rm 14.1acolhei-vos uns aos outros, como também Cristo nos acolheu para promoverdes a glória de Deus. 8 Pois digo que Cristo se tornou ministro da *cp.Mt 15.24;At 3.26circuncisão por amor da verdade de Deus, para confirmar *cp.Rm 4.16;2Co 1.20as promessas feitas a nossos pais 9 e para que *cp.Rm 3.29;11.30os gentios *Mt 9.8glorifiquem a Deus pela misericórdia dele, *Sl 18.49;2Sm 22.50conforme está escrito:

Por isso, eu te glorificarei entre os gentios

e cantarei louvores ao teu nome.

10 Outra vez disse:

*Dt 32.43Alegrai-vos, ó gentios, com o seu povo.

11 E ainda:

*Sl 117.1Louvai ao Senhor, todos os gentios,

e todos os povos o louvem.

12 *Is 11.10Também Isaías disse:

Haverá *cp.Ap 5.5;22.16a raiz de Jessé,

e aquele que se levanta para governar os gentios;

*Mt 12.21nele esperarão os gentios.

13 Ora, o Deus de esperança vos encha de todo o *cp.Rm 14.17gozo e paz na vossa fé, para que abundeis na esperança *Rm 15.19;1Co 2.4;1Ts 1.5pelo poder do Espírito Santo.

Paulo explica o motivo das admoestações

14 Eu mesmo estou persuadido a vosso respeito, irmãos meus, que também vós mesmos estais cheios de *Ef 5.9;2Ts 1.11bondade, cheios de *1Co 1.5;13.2; cp.8.1,7,10;12.8toda a ciência e capazes de admoestar uns aos outros. 15 Mas vos escrevo em parte mais ousadamente, como trazendo-vos isso de novo à memória, por causa da *Rm 12.3graça que me foi dada por Deus, 16 para ser o *Rm 11.13;At 9.15ministro de Cristo Jesus entre os gentios, ministrando *Rm 15.19; cp.Rm 15.20;Rm 1.1o evangelho de Deus, a fim de que, bem aceita, se torne *Ef 5.2;Fp 2.17; cp.Rm 12.1a oblação dos gentios, sendo santificada pelo Espírito Santo. 17 Tenho, pois, a minha *Fp 3.3glória em Cristo Jesus nas *Hb 2.17;5.1coisas pertencentes a Deus; 18 porque não ousarei falar de coisa alguma, senão daquelas que *cp.At 15.12;21.19;Rm 1.5;2Co 3.5Cristo fez por meio de mim, para obediência dos gentios, por palavra e por obra, 19 no poder de *Jo 4.48milagres e prodígios, *Rm 15.13no poder do Espírito Santo; de maneira que, *At 22.17-21desde Jerusalém e terras vizinhas *cp.At 20.1s.até Ilírico, tenho divulgado o evangelho de Cristo, 20 esforçando-me, desse modo, por *Rm 1.15;10.15; cp.Rm 15.16pregar o evangelho, não onde já se havia feito menção de Cristo, *2Co 10.15s.; cp.1Co 3.10para não edificar sobre fundamento de outro; 21 mas, como está escrito:

e os que não ouviram entenderão.

22 Por isso, fui muitas vezes *Rm 1.13; cp.1Ts 2.18impedido de ir ter convosco; 23 mas, agora, não tendo mais o que me detenha nestas regiões *At 19.21;Rm 1.10s.; cp.Rm 15.29,32e desejando, há muitos anos, visitar-vos, 24 o farei quando eu *Rm 15.28for à Espanha (porque espero ver-vos de passagem e ser por vós *At 15.3encaminhado para lá, depois de haver primeiro *cp.Rm 1.12gozado um pouco da vossa companhia); 25 mas, agora, *At 19.21vou a Jerusalém *At 24.17a serviço dos santos. 26 Pois aprouve à *1Co 16.5;2Co 1.16;2.13;7.5;8.1;9.2,4;11.9;Fp 4.15;1Ts 1.7s.;4.10;1Tm 1.3;At 16.9Macedônia e à *At 18.12; cp.19.21Acaia fazer uma contribuição para os pobres dentre os santos que estão em Jerusalém. 27 Aprouve-lhes fazer isso, e lhes são devedores; porque, *1Co 9.11se os gentios têm sido participantes das coisas espirituais dos judeus, devem também servir a estes nas coisas materiais. 28 Tendo, pois, concluído isso e havendo-lhes *cp.Jo 3.33posto o meu selo nesse fruto, *Rm 15.24irei à Espanha, passando por vós; 29 e sei que, quando *At 19.21;Rm 1.10s.; cp.Rm 15.23,32for ter convosco, irei na plenitude da bênção de Cristo.

30 Rogo-vos, irmãos, por nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo e pelo *cp.Gl 5.22;Cl 1.8amor do Espírito, *Cl 4.12; cp.2Co 1.11que luteis juntamente comigo nas orações por mim a Deus, 31 para que eu *2Co 1.10;2Ts 3.2;2Tm 3.11;4.17seja livre dos incrédulos na Judeia, e o meu *Rm 15.25s.;2Co 8.4;9.1ministério em Jerusalém se torne aceitável *At 9.13;Rm 15.15aos santos, 32 *Rm 15.23a fim de que, *Rm 1.10; cp.At 18.21pela vontade de Deus, indo com gozo ter convosco, eu ache descanso na vossa companhia. 33 *Rm 16.20;2Co 13.11;Fp 4.9;1Ts 5.23;Hb 13.20; cp.2Ts 3.16O Deus de paz seja com todos vós! Amém.

But, as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."✝15:3 Psalms 69:9 4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that through perseverance and through encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now the God of perseverance and of encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 that with one accord you may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Therefore accept one another, even as Christ also accepted you,*15:7 TR reads "us" instead of "you" to the glory of God. 8 Now I say that Christ has been made a servant of the circumcision for the truth of God, that he might confirm the promises given to the fathers, 9 and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written,

"Therefore I will give praise to you among the Gentiles

and sing to your name."✝15:9 2 Samuel 22:50; Psalms 18:49

10 Again he says,

"Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people."✝15:10 Deuteronomy 32:43

11 Again,

"Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!

Let all the peoples praise him."✝15:11 Psalms 117:1

12 Again, Isaiah says,

"There will be the root of Jesse,

he who arises to rule over the Gentiles;

in him the Gentiles will hope."✝15:12 Isaiah 11:10

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.

14 I myself am also persuaded about you, my brothers,*15:14 The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings." that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish others. 15 But I write the more boldly to you in part as reminding you, because of the grace that was given to me by God, 16 that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles, serving as a priest of the Good News of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. 17 I have therefore my boasting in Christ Jesus in things pertaining to God. 18 For I will not dare to speak of any things except those which Christ worked through me for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed, 19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of God’s Spirit; so that from Jerusalem and around as far as to Illyricum, I have fully preached the Good News of Christ; 20 yes, making it my aim to preach the Good News, not where Christ was already named, that I might not build on another’s foundation. 21 But, as it is written,

"They will see, to whom no news of him came.

They who haven’t heard will understand."✝15:21 Isaiah 52:15

22 Therefore also I was hindered these many times from coming to you, 23 but now, no longer having any place in these regions, and having these many years a longing to come to you, 24 whenever I travel to Spain, I will come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while. 25 But now, I say, I am going to Jerusalem, serving the saints. 26 For it has been the good pleasure of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are at Jerusalem. 27 Yes, it has been their good pleasure, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they owe it to them also to serve them in material things. 28 When therefore I have accomplished this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will go on by way of you to Spain. 29 I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of the Good News of Christ.

30 Now I beg you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, 31 that I may be delivered from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 that I may come to you in joy through the will of God, and together with you, find rest. 33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
