Davi pede que Deus o livre dos seus inimigos

1 Contende, Jeová, com os que *Sl 18.43;Is 49.25comigo contendem;

peleja contra os que *Sl 56.2contra mim pelejam.

2 Toma o *Sl 91.4escudo e o pavês

e levanta-te em *Sl 44.26meu auxílio.

3 Tira da lança e embarga o passo aos que me perseguem.

Dize à minha alma: Eu sou a *Sl 62.2tua salvação.

4 *Sl 70.2Sejam envergonhados e cobertos de desonra os que buscam tirar-me a vida;

*Sl 40.14;129.5sejam obrigados a voltar atrás e sejam confundidos os que tramam fazer-me o mal.

5 *Sl 83.13;Jó 21.18;Is 29.5Sejam como a moinha diante do vento,

acossando-os o anjo de Jeová.

6 Torne-se o seu caminho escuro e *Sl 73.18;Jr 23.12escorregadio,

perseguindo-os o anjo de Jeová.

7 *Sl 69.4;109.3;140.5Pois, sem causa, esconderam para mim um laço;

sem causa, abriram para a minha alma uma cova.

8 *Sl 55.23;Is 47.11;1Ts 5.3Venha sobre ele a destruição, quando menos pensa;

apanhe-o *Sl 9.15o próprio laço que escondeu.

Nele caia para a sua *Sl 73.18destruição.

9 A minha alma *Is 61.10exultará em Jeová,

*Sl 9.14;13.5;Lc 1.47regozijar-se-á na sua salvação.

sobre coisas que ignoro, me interrogam.

Livra a minha alma *Sl 35.7das suas violências;

dos leões, a minha *Sl 22.20-21predileta.

18 *Sl 22.22Dar-te-ei graças na grande congregação;

entre muito povo te *Sl 22.25louvarei.

19 *Sl 13.4;30.1;38.16Não se regozijem *Sl 38.19;69.4;119.78injustamente sobre mim os meus inimigos,

20 Pois não falam paz,

mas tramam *Sl 55.21;Jr 9.8;Mq 6.12enganos contra os que estão quietos sobre a terra.

disseram: *Sl 40.15;70.3Ainda bem! Ainda bem! Os nossos olhos o viram.

Senhor, *Sl 10.1;22.11;38.21;71.12não te afastes de mim.

23 *Sl 7.6;44.23;59.4;80.2Acorda e desperta para o meu julgamento,

para a minha causa, Deus meu e Senhor meu.

24 *Sl 9.4;26.1;43.1Julga-me, Jeová, Deus meu, segundo a tua retidão;

*Sl 35.19e não se regozijem eles sobre mim.

25 Não digam eles em seu coração:

*Sl 35.21Ainda bem! Cumpriu-se o nosso desejo.

Não digam eles: *Sl 56.1;124.3;Pv 1.12;Lm 2.16Nós o devoramos.

26 *Sl 40.14Sejam envergonhados e confundidos juntamente os *Sl 38.16;Jó 19.5que se regozijam com o meu mal;

cubram-se de vergonha e de ignomínia os que se engrandecem contra mim.

27 *Sl 32.11Cantem de júbilo e se alegrem os que têm prazer *Sl 9.4na minha retidão;

*Sl 40.16;70.4digam continuamente: Seja magnificado Jeová,

*Sl 147.11;149.4que se deleita na prosperidade do seu servo!

28 A *Sl 51.14;71.15,24minha língua celebrará a tua justiça

e o teu louvor durante o dia todo.

1 Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me.

Fight against those who fight against me.

2 Take hold of shield and buckler,

and stand up for my help.

3 Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me.

Tell my soul, "I am your salvation."

4 Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor.

Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.

5 Let them be as chaff before the wind,

Yahweh’s angel driving them on.

6 Let their way be dark and slippery,

Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.

7 For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me.

Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

8 Let destruction come on him unawares.

Let his net that he has hidden catch himself.

Let him fall into that destruction.

9 My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh.

It shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, "Yahweh, who is like you,

who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him;

yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?"

11 Unrighteous witnesses rise up.

They ask me about things that I don’t know about.

12 They reward me evil for good,

to the bereaving of my soul.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth.

I afflicted my soul with fasting.

My prayer returned into my own bosom.

14 I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother.

I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.

15 But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together.

The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it.

They tore at me, and didn’t cease.

16 Like the profane mockers in feasts,

they gnashed their teeth at me.

17 Lord, how long will you look on?

Rescue my soul from their destruction,

my precious life from the lions.

18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly.

I will praise you among many people.

19 Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me;

neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.

20 For they don’t speak peace,

but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.

21 Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me.

They said, "Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!"

22 You have seen it, Yahweh. Don’t keep silent.

Lord, don’t be far from me.

23 Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God!

My Lord, contend for me!

24 Vindicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness.

Don’t let them gloat over me.

25 Don’t let them say in their heart, "Aha! That’s the way we want it!"

Don’t let them say, "We have swallowed him up!"

26 Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity.

Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.

27 Let those who favor my righteous cause shout for joy and be glad.

Yes, let them say continually, "May Yahweh be magnified,

who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!"

28 My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.
