1 For, look, the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah support and means of support, the whole support of bread, and the whole support of water;2 the mighty man, and the man of war; the judge, and the prophet, and the fortune-teller, and the elder;3 the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the expert artificer, and the expert charmer.4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes will rule over them.5 And the people will be oppressed, man against man, and a man by his fellow man: the child will behave himself proudly against the old man, and the base against the honorable.6 When a man will take hold of his brother in the house of his father, [saying], You have clothing, be our ruler, and let this ruin be under your hand;7 in that day he will lift up [his voice], saying, I will not be a healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: you{+} will not make me ruler of the people.8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.9 The expression of their face witnesses against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have done evil to themselves.10 Say{+} of the righteous, that [it will be] well [with him]; for they will eat the fruit of their doings.11 Woe to the wicked! [It will be] ill [with him]; for what his hands have done will be done to him.12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and usurers rule over them. O my people, those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths.13 Yahweh stands up to contend, and stands to judge the peoples.14 Yahweh will enter into judgment with the elders of his people, and its princes: It is you{+} who have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your{+} houses:15 what do you{+} mean that you{+} crush my people, and grind the face of the poor? says the Lord, Yahweh of hosts.16 Moreover Yahweh said, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet;17 therefore the Lord will strike with a scab the top of the head of the daughters of Zion, and Yahweh will lay bare their secret parts.18 In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, and the cauls, and the crescents;19 the pendants, and the bracelets, and the mufflers;20 the headtires, and the ankle chains, and the sashes, and the perfume-boxes, and the amulets;21 the rings, and the nose-jewels;22 the festival robes, and the mantles, and the shawls, and the satchels;23 the hand-mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the veils.24 And it will come to pass, that instead of sweet spices there will be rottenness; and instead of a belt, a rope; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a robe, a girding of sackcloth; branding instead of beauty.25 Your men will fall by the sword, and your mighty in the war.26 And her gates will lament and mourn; and she will sit on the ground emptied.

1 Vejam! O Soberano, o Senhor dos Exércitos, logo irá retirar de Jerusalém e de Judá todo o seu sustento, tanto o suprimento de comida como o suprimento de água,2 e também o herói e o guerreiro, o juiz e o profeta, o adivinho e a autoridade,3 o capitão e o nobre, o conselheiro, o conhecedor de magia e o perito em maldições.4 Porei jovens no governo; irresponsáveis dominarão.5 O povo oprimirá a si mesmo: homem contra homem, cada um contra o seu próximo. O jovem se levantará contra o idoso, o desprezível contra o nobre.6 Um homem agarrará seu irmão; um da família de seu pai, e lhe dirá: "Você pelo menos tem um manto, seja o nosso governante; assuma o poder sobre este monte de ruínas! "7 Mas naquele dia ele exclamará: "Não tenho remédios, não há comida nem roupa em minha casa; não me nomeiem governante do povo".8 Jerusalém está em ruínas, e o povo de Judá está caído; suas palavras e suas ações são contra o Senhor, desafiando a sua presença gloriosa.9 O jeito que olham testifica contra eles; mostram seu pecado como Sodoma, sem nada esconder. Ai deles! Pois trouxeram desgraça sobre si mesmos.10 Digam aos justos que tudo lhes irá bem, pois comerão do fruto de suas ações.11 Mas, ai dos ímpios! Pois tudo lhes irá mal! Terão a retribuição pelo que fizeram as suas mãos.12 Meu povo é oprimido por uma criança; mulheres dominam sobre ele. Meu povo, os seus guias o enganam, e o desviam do caminho.13 O Senhor toma o seu lugar no tribunal; levanta-se para julgar os povos.14 O Senhor entra em juízo contra as autoridades e contra os líderes do seu povo. "Vocês arruinaram a vinha, e o que foi roubado dos necessitados está nas suas casas.15 Que pretendem vocês, ao esmagarem o meu povo, e ao moerem o rosto dos necessitados? " Quem pergunta é o Senhor, o Senhor dos Exércitos.16 O Senhor diz: "Por causa da arrogância das mulheres de Sião, que caminham de cabeça erguida, flertando com os olhos, desfilando com passos curtos, com enfeites tinindo em seus calcanhares,17 o Senhor rapará a cabeça das mulheres de Sião; o Senhor porá a descoberto as suas vergonhas".18 Naquele dia o Senhor arrancará os enfeites delas: as pulseiras, as testeiras e os colares;19 os pendentes, os braceletes e os véus,20 os enfeites de cabeça, as correntinhas de tornozelo, os cintos, os talismãs e os amuletos;21 os anéis e os enfeites para o nariz;22 as roupas caras, as capas, as mantilhas, e as bolsas;23 os espelhos, as roupas de linho, as tiaras e os xales.24 Em vez de perfume haverá mau cheiro, em vez de cintos, corda, em vez de belos penteados, calvície, em vez de roupas finas, vestes de lamento, em vez de beleza, cicatrizes.25 Seus homens cairão ao fio da espada; seus guerreiros morrerão no combate.26 As portas de Sião lamentarão e prantearão por causa disso; e sem nada, ela se assentará no chão.
