1 Do homem são as preparações do coração, mas do Senhor a resposta da língua.2 Todos os caminhos do homem são puros aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pesa o espírito.3 Confia ao Senhor as tuas obras, e teus pensamentos serão estabelecidos.4 O Senhor fez todas as coisas para atender aos seus próprios desígnios, até o ímpio para o dia do mal.5 Abominação é ao Senhor todo o altivo de coração; não ficará impune mesmo de mãos postas.6 Pela misericórdia e verdade a iniquidade é perdoada, e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do pecado.7 Sendo os caminhos do homem agradáveis ao Senhor, até a seus inimigos faz que tenham paz com ele.8 Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que a abundância de bens com injustiça.9 O coração do homem planeja o seu caminho, mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos.10 Nos lábios do rei se acha a sentença divina; a sua boca não transgride quando julga.11 O peso e a balança justos são do Senhor; obra sua são os pesos da bolsa.12 Abominação é aos reis praticarem impiedade, porque com justiça é que se estabelece o trono.13 Os lábios de justiça são o contentamento dos reis; eles amarão o que fala coisas retas.14 O furor do rei é mensageiro da morte, mas o homem sábio o apaziguará.15 No semblante iluminado do rei está a vida, e a sua benevolência é como a nuvem da chuva serôdia.16 Quão melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! E quão mais excelente é adquirir a prudência do que a prata!17 Os retos fazem o seu caminho desviar-se do mal; o que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua alma.18 A soberba precede a ruína, e a altivez do espírito precede a queda.19 Melhor é ser humilde de espírito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.20 O que atenta prudentemente para o assunto achará o bem, e o que confia no Senhor será bem-aventurado.21 O sábio de coração será chamado prudente, e a doçura dos lábios aumentará o ensino.22 O entendimento para aqueles que o possuem, é uma fonte de vida, mas a instrução dos tolos é a sua estultícia.23 O coração do sábio instrui a sua boca, e aumenta o ensino dos seus lábios.24 As palavras suaves são favos de mel, doces para a alma, e saúde para os ossos.25 Há um caminho que parece direito ao homem, mas o seu fim são os caminhos da morte.26 A alma daquele que trabalha, trabalha para si mesmo, porque a sua boca o incita.27 O homem ímpio cava o mal, e nos seus lábios há como que uma fogueira.28 O homem perverso instiga a contenda, e o intrigante separa os maiores amigos.29 O homem violento coage o seu próximo, e o faz deslizar por caminhos nada bons.30 O que fecha os olhos para imaginar coisas ruins, ao cerrar os lábios pratica o mal.31 Coroa de honra são os cabelos brancos, quando eles estão no caminho da justiça.32 Melhor é o que tarda em irar-se do que o poderoso, e o que controla o seu ânimo do que aquele que toma uma cidade.33 A sorte se lança no regaço, mas do Senhor procede toda a determinação.

1 Unto man belong the resolves of the heart; but from the Lord cometh the expression of the tongue.2 Every one of the ways of a man is pure in his own eyes; but the Lord measureth the spirits.3 Commit unto the Lord thy works, and thy plans will be firmly established.4 Every thing hath the Lord wrought for its destined end; yes, even the wicked for the day of unhappiness.5 An abomination of the Lord is every one that is proud of heart: the hand of God being against his hand, he shall not go unpunished.6 Through kindness and truth is iniquity atoned for; and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil.7 When the Lord receiveth in favor a man’s ways, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.8 Better is a little with righteousness, than great incomes through injustice.9 A man’s heart deviseth his way; but the Lord directeth firmly his steps.10 There should be a wise sentence on the lips of the king: his mouth should never commit a trespass in judging.11 A just balance and scales belong to the Lord: his work are all the weights in the bag.12 It should be an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; for through righteousness alone can a throne be established.13 Righteous lips should obtain the favor of kings; and him that speaketh uprightly should they love.14 The fury of a king is like the messengers of death; but a wise man will appease it.15 In the light of the king’s countenance there is life; and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.16 How much better is it to obtain wisdom than gold! and to obtain understanding is preferable to silver!17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he preserveth his soul that watcheth his way.18 Before downfall goeth pride, and before stumbling, haughtiness of spirit.19 Better is it to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide spoil with the proud.20 He that reflecteth on a matter wisely will find happiness; and whoso trusteth in the Lord––happiness attend him!21 The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips increaseth information.22 Intelligence is a source of life unto its possessor; but the correction of fools is folly.23 The heart of the wise maketh his mouth intelligent, and upon his lips he increaseth information.24 Like the droppings of honey are pleasant sayings, sweet to the soul, and healing to the bones.25 There is many a way which seemeth even before a man, but its end are the ways unto death.26 The desire of the laborer laboreth for him; for his mouth imposeth it on him.27 An ungodly man diggeth up mischief, and on his lips there is as it were a scathing fire.28 A perverse man scattereth strife; and a whisperer separateth confident friends.29 The man of violence misleadeth his neighbor, and maketh him go on a way which is not good.30 He shutteth his eyes to devise perverse things: when he compresseth his lips then hath he fully resolved on evil.31 An ornamental crown is the hoary head, on the way of righteousness can it be found.32 One that is slow to anger is better than a hero; and he that ruleth his spirit, than the conqueror of a city.33 In the lap the lot is cast: but from the Lord cometh the whole of its decision.
